      Kind of the same here. My mother is Thai and I was born in America. It wasn't until I was older that I started becoming curious about my Thai heritage. I wish I had started earlier in life. BTW, since you have Thai parents, did you know you can actually apply for Thai citizenship and not have to denounce your American citizenship. I have two passports and also a Thai ID card. Makes getting into the airport a lot easier and you get all Thai citizen rates at national parks, etc.

    Given the super long walk from terminal to the station, and 20 minute+ wait for a train, I reckon the quicker & cheaper method back to the city right now is A1/A2 express bus to Mo Chit, and then hop on the MRT or BTS.

      NOTE: If you are travelling with one or two heavy suitcases - not only is there a huge amount of walking, there is a staircase you have to climb at Don Mueang, which you can see at the 6:16 point of this excellent video. The airport bus option is much more doable and involves a lot less walking. If you wait for a taxi, make sure you get a van if you have bags - the regular sedans usually have a trunk full of LPG tank...so there is no room for bags and always tell the driver to use the meter.

Wait for the AIrport Bus A1 or A2 at the roadside by the sign that says A1 and A2 (in very small writing). Get on the bus at the front since that is where the bags are stored. Also note that the airport bus drops off and picks up at door 6 - which is the international airport side of Don Mueng, so there is a 5-10 minute walk to the Domestic checkin desks - depending on which airline you are flying with. Absolutely, but if you travel with a family of 4 it does not differ that much.

    Can I use the SRT from Dmk airport to downtown (as you showed in this video) *with one medium sized luggage 🧳? Or should I take the express bus to Mo Chit and take MRT/ BTS there? Thanks.

    Dank je Jeroen, for sure we will use your detailed information. We arrive around 16:00 hrs from a domestic flight. ( okay I also want to see Bang Sue Grand Station . :-) ) BTW what was the Taxi time?

    • @globaltravelmate
      @globaltravelmate  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Taxi was about 45 minutes. It really depends on traffic downtown.

    Honestly, I don't mind the walk to the SRT Red Line. Happy that there is a train line to DMK now. However, they should install escalator on that part where it is just stairs and also install more walkalators.

    No more TM6! Is that for residents or all foreign travelers? What is the replacement process? Fill out information at kiosks or another reprocess? We don’t fly into Don Mueang much, so this is great info. Thank you!

      Just no more paperwork to fill in. You scan your fingerscan and that's it.

    Thanks for the video! The last time I went to Bangkok was back in 2017, and the taxi line was too long! Maybe things have turned out to be better but I’m looking for an alternative. This may be a better choice if I reach at peak hour! Anyone knows how much a taxi roughly is from Don Mueang Airport to the city (around Pratunam) now?

    Well this changed my plan. But then again the traffic would be bad enough, so maybe the train won't be so bad

    I enjoyed this informative video. Being from London, I like the fact there was a British flag on the ticket machine for those wanting English. It will probably upset Americans that Thais chose a British flag over an American one.😃You can't ask for anything better when paying only 73 baht from Don Mueang Airport to Sukhumvit in just over an hour. I wonder how much a taxi cost from Don Mueang Airport to Sukhumvit?

    • @globaltravelmate
      @globaltravelmate  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jacob, the taxi would be around 250 plus 50 thb airport surcharge. So around 300 THB. If you travel with more people the taxi is actually still a great deal as well.

    In November of last year, my wife and I went to Bang Sue just to look around. It seemed a lot of it was closed off and they were using it for vaccinations. Good to see that huge complex being used now. So are all the trains that used to be at Hua Lampong now at Bang Sue?

    • @globaltravelmate
      @globaltravelmate  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hua Lampong is still open. The closed parts at Bang Sue are for the high speed train in the future.

      Yes, but you need to check which train. The old train station is still next door to the big one and all regional trains pass through that one.
