      @@typallotta756 have you ever looked at the centrimachines, signetic or seedgears, the seed 2. I think they are solenoidtattoomachines. Basicly single coilmachines ;-) in a new jacket? I was wondering what you think about them? Thanks for all the info btw. Learning a lot again.

    More reviews please! This is gold. Never clicked so fast. Keep up the good work. Also any opinion on using even shorter strokes for soft black and grey? Fk irons have more different stroke lenghts available. I have the sol nova and the xion at the moment and i cant really decide wich one i like better for my soft shading. I feel like the sol nova is more precise but there are good reasons for the xion as well.

    What do you guys consider a big liner? I'm pulling 11rl with the xion right now. They are single pass and crispy at 8.5 for clicks back off no give.

      I'm also able to work fairly quickly. I've heard of guys running the xion at 11-13 volts. That's gotta be like 135-155 cos at least. No clue how they work so fast lol.

    Is it possible to put 2.5 cam for tiny tatts?
    Im stuck in between 3 machines and cant make my mind - fk xion, valhalla or onkjexta flit nano, im doing lot of tiny and micro tatts, scripts amd plynesian :/

    • @artbyddp
      @artbyddp 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Xion S is a micro beauty version of the pen. Maybe try that, but for Polynesian, you may need a longer stroke like the 3.7 in the regular Xion.

    It depends on who you ask about the xion. One of the things I like the most ,is the grip. It allows you to get closer to the needle without compromising the angle of your needle. It feels more like holding a pencil. In my opinion. And the grooves in it allow me to hold the grip more comfortable. And the grooves help to keep it from sliding around my work station.

    Been using the Xion for a year and a half. 2 months ago the motor started sputtering and skipping, JUST 2 months after the warranty was voided. Paid for new motor and it did not lock into my original body snuggly. After a lot of hastling back and forth with fk irons i had it sent in for repairs. What the don't tell you is the motor has a 1 year warranty but the body has a lifetime warranty. So i now have a new motor and new body which is nice. The month and a half to get it back to working order was a bummer, though. All in all i do enjoy the machine but, but having the body andmotor go bad after a year and a half, while being $800 invested after buying the new motor was a bummer

      Nathan Brinker That sucks. The downside of electric motors. Your reliability as a machine builder is only as good as Maxon’s or Faulhaber’s motors.

    Literally have been looking into buying the xion vs a dmc DK. This really helped. I greatly appreciate it

    • @aceadam1828
      @aceadam1828 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you are looking for a liner get the dk machine. I have no dmc but i have the swingliner and a sidewinder aswell as the xion and i hate the xion for lining.

      Julio Gutierrez If I get my hands on a DMC I’ll be happy to review it after extensive use. He is an amazing machine builder and should be taken just as seriously as these big companies.

      Personally, I have both! But I started with the Xion - it’s what I bought at the start of my apprenticeship. It’s a solid, work horse of a machine - but getting bold lines as a traditional effect took me some time to figure out. Once I got to a good place with that, I picked up a DMC, which I absolutely adore. It’s another great all around machine, but it’s sick with those single pass lines like a coil. I really enjoy packing with the DMC as well. At this point, I like to line and shade with the DMC, then rock color with the Xion. I use cartridge needles, so it’s easy to switch out while working - though they have their own cons.
      Moral of the story - they’re both splendid machines. I think the order in which I got acquainted with them really worked for me.
      Parting thought - as Dan Kubin says of the DMC it’s great for anything you can do with your hand. As of the first 30 days, it has eclipsed my Xion as the go-to machine.

      Arcana of the Fool that’s great to hear!
      I’m really going for the traditional lining style and I think the dmc will be perfect.
      Another question that comes to mind, do you use disposable tubes? I’m wondering what the weight distribution will feel like compared to a pen style machine.

    • @brrrmanza
      @brrrmanza 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Julio Gutierrez I use disposable cart grips - personally I like kingpin the most, so far... I tried another company and their plunger bars were too long and makes switching carts a major pain. The more disposable - the better. One of the best criticisms about the Xion, as Ty makes in the video.

  • @peter_panarchy
    @peter_panarchy 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I love my xion, but he's absolutely right about the grip! it sucks that you have to pay way more to accommodate having small hands, such a problem for women tattooers that not many companies seem to care about. FK Irons even makes "slim" grip version, but it only comes with the stroke set up for permanent makeup, because I guess girls only do cosmetic tattoos?
