As a casual gamer that's new to this era of handheld devices I must say the market is ridiculously flooded. I just purchased a Steam Deck oled as an upgrade to my Switch oled & I refuse to purchase another device for a while because they seem to announce a new one every week...
I was planning on buying the steam deck Oled then saw the msi claw. Held back for a bit and wanted to see how it will perform. If it works well, the upside would be me keeping my current msi ecosystem.
I get that, I do love msi haha I just got the MSI 4070 ti Suprim and love it. I think they are entering this kinda strangely but who knows that chip might pay off for them
@@gamersdigester dang the suprim is a really sexy card. I personally have the gaming x trio 4070 ti. Here's to hoping that it can actually deliver, but hey I still have that money so if it doesn't pan out. I can always get the steam deck Oled which is finally near msrp locally.
as someone whos considering purchasing a gamng handheld as a student away from home something that makes me consider the claw is the compatibility with gpus, im aware the ally has the asus system but it's propriaty and expensive. What does make me want an ally tho is the fact the software is pretty flushed out now whereas inevitably msi's software will take 6 months or so before it becomes a pleasnt usable experience. I guess we will see what happends.
lookin to get a rog ally soon, want to game at work and might as well get paid for it lol i agree claw isnt lookin too different from what we have now. At least you can get the ally for 450 thru best buy open box option and thats prolly what ill do
Can someone answer this question please , is it possible we see new ally with intel in near future ? or its not going to happen at all ? Im about to buy current ally but for reasons i prefer intel version...but i dont know if its coming in 2024 or beyond 2024 ...
my biggest problem with intel is drivers i remember when i got my 2n1 intel XE laptop i tried to play OG resident evil 4 and the fire affects would destory the fps otherwise it ran fine so im a bit worried about other games having simallar problems
I don't know what it is about the claw, but I just dislike the look of it, the ally looks great, the steam deck looks eh its in the middle of the road it's not bad but it's not the best, and then the claw just looks bad the only reason I even kind of considered it is the hall effect sticks and bigger battery, if the ally had both of those I wouldn't want any other handheld.
i mean saying this is like saying “oh if the steam deck had better perfomance and a better screen i wouldnt want the ally” it doesnt… neither does the ally when u compare to the claw i think thats the beauty of it. not one console is perfect. the msi claw imo is better looking than the ally, thats cuz looks are objective
@@akapeegly6463 I realize not every one of these handhelds is perfect and that's why I don't have one yet, I'm waiting for the perfect one and I'm getting nervous because I can't think of very many major companies that are left to make handhelds.
It’s hit or miss. I purchased one from Best Buy new, before sales ended, it was R5 version. Updated to the latest software and BIOS, and SD card slot fried in a few hours of playing. I know I can send it to repair. But it was already my 6th Ally. Finally gave up on Ally and moved to Legion Go. So far no issue.
I have legion go, Ally, and OLED steam deck. I think the Claw is exciting just because it’s a new chip. Every single handheld over the last year+ has been the same chip. I’m excited to see what it can do. The z1 extreme eats battery power like crazy at 25+ watt settings so if this is more efficient at higher wattages then it’ll be great. For instance at 25watts the z1 extreme actually pulls 35-45watts which kills playtime. It also has potential to perform better than the z1 extreme. Supposedly it’s better at game performance so we will see. I play a lot of the time plugged into the wall in bed so if it can go to higher wattages and hit higher frame rates then it’s a plus for me.
@@joshpacker6635 The legion go in some games can perform better and get some better battery life. But the software is more stable and easier to navigate on the Ally. The Ally is lighter and more comfortable in handheld play. The kickstand and playing in a tabletop mode is really nice on the Go and of course the gorgeous screen. So for ease of use, vrr screen, and lighter weight go Ally. For everything else I’d pick the Go. I play the Go far more than the Ally now. Being able to set it down and play with the side controllers or another controller with the kickstand is nice. It’s getting lots of updates too and keeps getting better as far as software and features. Oh and unlike my Ally it doesn’t kill SD cards
What more did you expect? Genuine question. The performance gap between (select any 2 hand-helds) is not vast at all. They all are about the same in different shells. This is just Intel. The only thing there is to do here is test. See if they can meet claims. It’s ok to be skeptical but geezus lol
I understand your concern about the chip and how its not as efficient so as a result it will be more power hungry and will drain that battery faster but msi's claims are supposedly tested at the maximum settings
I'm willing to bet that MSI just used the same OEM to manufacture the Claw as Asus did for the Ally and they made small tweaks to try and avoid a lawsuit which I honestly would be shocked if Asus does not sue over this.
What they are showing is just a concept engineering handheld device, the real product is not even out yet so its just stupid to say already to msi claw this isn't looking good 🙄
I just want the steam deck OLED, but I don't have all the money right now. When I do buy one I'm going to give my LCD steam deck to my girlfriend, No sense in selling it dirt cheap like I see everyone else doing 😂
I don’t know why this video came off as if the very existence of the claw was threatening something. this excited me just as much as the ally. Eh. I was really only excited for the ally because I could return it IF I wanted with no hassle and it had support. We are not going to see a major leap in performance for these hand held for a while and even then you only see that upgrade in performance if you manage not to buy one every time they released a new one.
Mate steam deck suck! It's just not performing as the competition! I had Rog Ally, and i bought Steam deck oled! It sucks! The ally is way smoother! But the screen on the deck is way better! I have no patience to buy MSI Claw when it arrives at my country! I just want to compare them and choose the king! The rest is going to be sold at half the price just to get rid of them!
