“Wow! Trebizond playthrough! Wait, what are you doing? Georgia? No-no-no! You were a chosen one! You were chosen to restore a Komnenoi empire, and not to turn it into one more fucking Georgia! Nooooo!”
one of the funny quirks of the heretic royal marriages is that it doesn't have any malus for having too many relations, so securing an alliance with mamluks and ajam is a near guarantee. Personally I made it so my first war was against the Ottomans, because if they even slightly start to scale, they become a complete headache. Took me a lot of savescumming though. All in all, going Trebizond > Georgia > Byzantium makes quite the powerful Byzantium. Much harder start though.
didn't know about the relation slots, so that's cool! what you did vs ottos makes sense and i'm all up for "all in" type of start, but i wanted to make this run specifically a "realistic no restarts relatable" one for change of pace
Definitely continue this, was really fun to see you expand so quickly and straining your country to do so, and beating the ottomans will be good to see. Absolutely diplo or influence would be great in your circumstances, using favors for money and manpower is clearly the strat right now.
A very entertaining chaotic run. It is very enjoyable to see you fight against the odds. I do have a few ideas that might help : 1- If you have a mission or a decision that grants you manpower, always slacken recruitement before taking it because you will get more that way. 2- You were close all game to 50 power projection. I am not sure you embargoed all of your rivals. That could get you over 50 for free. 3- Buying renaissance instead of developping it would have been a better idea. In the long run, the development of your capital is irrelevant since you will change it later down the line.
You can spawn gold in Trebizond so it's always good to develop it imo. Continued the run and it massively helped restoring the economy. I appreciate the tips tho bro!
Honestly, restarted a bunch until AQ didn't ally the Ottos before the 11th of December. Then, you get the 10 Anatolian provinces for the mission "March of the Vengeful" via Dulkadir, Hisn Kayfa, Ramazan, Candar and/or Karaman. After that you go against Georgia and use heathen royal marriage, dip rep advisor and improve relations to get Ajam and Great Horde on your side. After that the world is your oyster once the Ottos are distracted. It is now 1545 and I have Anatolia, Causasia, Egypt and half of the Balkans + stole Naples from Spain (went Espionage for that). Your video shows what happened to me on my first run: shit out of luck and almost bankrupt😄
Yeah you should have released some subjects, less admin expended so no corruption from unbalanced research, more force limit, less fort maintenance so more money, less rebels so more manpower
For tactic, the same as byz, ally as fast as possible big, than claim on Candar, DOW on them, start Siege on there capital, vassal them, get your big allies into a defence war. It is even worse to go over dip slot limit, for "short term" op allies. Any little target in your defence war is useful
After playing trebezond and restarting my campaigns I have developed a easier and less Rng dependant strategy 1.never rival Circassia, ay quyulu or georgia (the higher relations you have with Circassia the less likely they are to be a tributary of the great hoard, ay quyulu almost always guarantees you, and Georgia is a very easy ally to maintain), only rival them if you are ready to attack them 2. improve relations with circaucasia until you are ready to declar war, ally the Mamluks and improve relations with Georgia until it is 190 for the mission 3. get mil access through Crimea and Genoa if possible, then wait till mill tech 4 afterwards attack circaucasia(they usually ally theorodo so don't bother allying Theodoro as you can just outright vassalize them), try to imediatly have your army Sieg down all of circaucasia or atleast have the province go to you before calling in Georgia as they tend to have claims on the entirety of the area by 1450. try to finish the war as fast as possible, the AI will declare war on theodoro or circaucasia preventing you from fully annexing circaucasia of vassalizeing theodoro 4. at this point start expanding, and prepare your self for the eventual confontation with quara quyulu, they will always attack Georgia at some point as they are only allied to you In my playthrough I own 1\3 of anatolia, and the entirety of the Caucasuses, only have 5 loans and have 32 corruption, alliances with the ausrians Mamluks and Muscovy, sorry for any misspellings I'm on my phone
untill 1502 i got a worst situation but with muscovy and mamluks i was able to vut in 3 the ottomans, thanks a lot, one of my fav campagni untill now (1516)!
I would go for AQ and restart until they don't get that alliance. If you can get Mamluks early, after wiping AQ, you can go and vassalize Duldakir and Karaman, maybe snipe Ramazan as well, thus denying the Ottos. Biggest issue for me was having some economy, i almost never was a on plus with so many cultures and religions in the region.
I have not played the new Trebizond yet, but I have heard that you can spawn a gold mine in your capital through a mission. This could perhaps solve your financial difficulties? 🤷🏼♂️
I had a good rng once. I kept Georgia as ally for couple years at the start so they didn't ally Circassia and circassia wasn't a tributary of great horde or crimea. Then they allied moldavia which was perfect. I full annexed circassia and left moldavia with a single province cuz i couldn't co belligerent them. Then annexed wallachia and got bigger alliances in europe since i closed the distance and had more dev
Having a lot of single culture (romanian) with decent dev was awesome once i accepted the culture. It was proper power boost compared to expanding into wrong religion and culture qq since they had less unrest because of acceptance of culture and religion + not having to convert anything. I would say this rng is even better than aq not allying ottomans
hey... i was trying to play as angevin empire but i dont have the new dlcs (havent bought one since emperor) so i console commanded one province to have a core and released it and played as it, but the mission tree was boring, so i thought maybe i can add the english/british mission tree back so i tried to add a new mission file with a copy pasted british mission tree info into it called angevin_empire.. but firstly it didnt work... secondly.. it disabled all my achievements.. i dont do ironman much anyway, but its kinda annoying cos every time i load a save it says, achievements disabled and i have to wait even more time for the save to load.. i deleted the new file id made.. achievements still locked, i uninstalled the game and reinstalled...,. achievements still locked.. am i permanently never able to get achievements now? does anyone firstly know how i could add a different mission tree to a nation without some complicated making my own mod process.. and does someone know how to make my game once again un edited and therefore reactivating my achievements? thanks
honestly i never mess with the game files so it might not work, but if you play on steam you can try to go to game properties and "verify the integrity of game files" in "installed files" section, but it might completely wipe all of your settings and saves, so prepare a back up just in case
@@GolemEnt ok will try... im wondering though if i need to do a full wipe of all files.. you know how when u uninstall it doesnt actually remove all the game files? what i was worried about though if i do that would it wipe out all my dlcs? dont want to have to buy them again... or is that info permanently stored on steam?
tried starting up a new tibet campaign (since yuan got updated) and i think i'm just not very good at this game 💀 managed to get all of tibet, but my neighbors are too big for me to really be able to expand anymore. so frustrating lol
Just tried 2 runs a trebizond got crushed by the ottomans in the first run second run ajam and hungary dishonered the call to arms when i was decced on again and then i hit alt f4 on accident XD
Nicely done, Treb is a hard start. If im being honest I think your run would have gone great if Aq hadn't allied the Ottos. it just hampers the tempo so much. As much as I hate restarting over and over its kind of worth it for Treb at least from what I've noticed, you get CBs on the Ottos and more than likely the ottos ally Ajam or someone else and get pulled into other wars.
Why do you not really hand out privileges to estates? I saw you had like 2 for the burghers. Youre missing out on so many bonuses! Without absolutism I am usually always at max privileges for high loyalty and influence. You might have had an easier time with your loans if you had bookkeeping, etc. Edit: I did see you had it towards the end of the video, my bad.
I’ve restarted at least 20 times because AQ and Otto’s ally EVERY TIME. The one time I let it happen I got all of Caucasia and crimea, allied Russia and mamluks but they both didn’t honor alliance when Ottomans invaded me. I thought I could come back after the loss and started playing more tall. Ottomans invaded me yet again and Russians and Mamluks refused to honor the alliance. 4 hours of progress gone. Alright, guys in the second video he really formed Georgia. And that’s folks, is what called abomination.
you can get lucky if Ottomans supports a Timurid subject, they tend to get distracted and you can snipe Constantinople from under them.
