I absolutely hate the dollar store cowboy look with the super wide toe boots… call me crazy, but that’s what draws me to Tecovas, they are traditional and classic looking. So usually I stay away from square toes, but MAN these look fine! Good job Tacovas!
Tecovas has discontinued this and ALL narrow or medium square toe boots. The only square toe boots they sell now are WIDE square toe. The ones that look like your thumb after you smash it with a hammer.
I have a pair,,their like soft leather gloves for your feet. Good review . I now have a pair of Tecovas Midland’s for work. Their in bison leather, it’s going to be a while to break in, but about the best quality boots I’ve owned.
Great looking boots! I actually prefer my boots to be a little too big so I can move my toes and feet around. Thats another reason why I prefer a wide square toe. Comfort is #1
Never liked square toe cowboy boots( they remind me of a platypus bill)but these are really cool.Almost like the toe you find on a harness boot,but a little more subtle.Might get a pair if I ever wear out my Abilenes.Thx for the review.

1 Bottom to shaft seam is what I've done but I didn't have to for this video because I relied on the boot specs on Tecovas website. 2 I'm not sure of the details behind their calfskin
Can’t do the square toe. I just wish Justin would bring back their “Lacer” with the flat heel. Wore them all through the 80’s, and loved the comfort and look.
Good review. To me personally, they look like something people who buy their cowboy hats at gas stations would wear. City looking boots for city people who want to look country.
Double stitched welt came about because of horsemen in the 80s and early 90s. The double welt aided in preserving the boot. This welt kept you from rubbing the foot on a stirrup. The double welt is clearly recognized by horseman as a tool of the trade. Great looking boot, reminds me of early generation Luccese when they were handcrafted

I have never worn, nor personally even seen in person any cowboy, rancher, or horseman with the big duck feet double stitch welt, only younger kids trying to be "country" ( which I'm fine with, it just is what it is ). Probably varies by where you're at in the U.S. though. I mean no offense btw.
@@DanBCooper No offense taken. I trained horses and cowboyed in Oklahoma and some Texas and Missouri. I first saw double stitched welts on the owner of the McAlester, Ok stockyards. They made quiet an impression on me at that time because as he explained it they were made by Rios of Mercedes the best boot made next to custom. (His opinion). They were round toed then but the square toes came in a few years later. Crepe soles made a short appearance but I never liked them because I couldn’t feel the stirrup right. Other hands must have felt the same way because they weren’t long seen. If you visit any major rodeo or equine event around the country you will see these boots. Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Fort Worth are scenes for the World Championship of Quarter Horse, Paints, Appaloosas, and other breeds as well as major events for the National Reining Horse association and the National Cutting Horse association. In over 60 years of being horseback it has been my honor to have competed in many of these.

I have one pair of narrow square toes ( Chisos #2’s ), I love ‘em for casual wear, but do catch some grief from everyone especially the old timers as they’re not traditional round toe. Haven’t spent much time in the Midwest though.

I've lost all respect for Tecovas. I had high hopes for my Cartwright's but the quality of my $114 Justin's was the same as a $235 pair of Tecovas. The first pair I exchanged and the second pair I would've returned if they hadn't have given me a full refund. So now I have a cheap boot I got for free. Yay I guess but fuck Tecovas.

@@ivanrod2550 It's not about the money, it's about the boot. They tried twice to sell me a sub par boot. They have fantastic customer service but that doesn't account for much when the product they're selling is sub par. They may have changed but I won't know unless they start selling B widths in which case I may try them again. The materials are good and the price is decent but it's sad that they couldn't put it together well enough. My outsoles are different shapes lol
size up if you do or go double ee if your a d because the insole will mess with the measurement they took from the last. the insole will create less space for your foot.
I have 3 pair of tecovas and I love them, their Cartwright my first pair are my absolute favorite because they broke in like soft leather gloves and just feel so comfortable all day.

Finally took the plunge and ordered The Earl and Cartwright with matching belts. Very excited. I usually wear Ariat, Justin or Lama's. Ariat is my choice for comfort but am hoping the Tecovas will give me that spiritual experience you speak of. Update: I just ordered another Cartwright in midnight calf and the Jackson in chestnut. Next will be lizard skin and then probably gator. Tecovas hit it out of the ballpark with their footwear.

I love the wider fit. I have problems with shoes being wide enough. My foot will change during the day. I have almost hobbitt feet. I just got a pair of Tecovas and will get another. I have room for my foot to expand in the boot.
Got mine. Did an unboxing video to show the black version. Unfortunately had to send them back for a half size down. Should be here in a couple days. It is even more impressive in person. And the smell is intoxicating!
I hear it's a Texas wide thing for the most part! Not everyone but a lot of folks for sure. Once you get up north, there are much fewer square toe around. More round toe. It's interesting to see how geographic areas like different styles
i love these boots looking to purchase a pair now. also Shoes and boots that are meant to be worn in extremely adverse conditions are made using the double-stitching production method. This method makes shoes remarkably robust and waterproof, in addition to lending them a sturdy look.
Yeah I like this boot. Would like it better if it fit but here's hoping for B widths!! I definitely haven't had that waterproof experience with double stitched welts. My Dan Post Thin Reds are not waterproof at all

Thanks Chris! They haven't said it outright but it's pretty obvious to me that Tecovas is directly challenging Lucchese. Whenever they say the "retail value" of their boots is $425 or whatever, that's what it would be if Lucchese made it. Even the Tecovas style is similar to Lucchese. I've tried Luccheses and I think the quality reflects how much more expensive they are. Lucchese has years of experience getting their fit just right. I know a pair of 10.5 Tecovas won't fit me because of the arch placement but the Luccheses do. Here is my review where the 10.5 D Luccheses fit me well: th-cam.com/video/8P4O399C_G4/w-d-xo.html. The leather is also really nice. In my opinion, Luccheses boots are better overall and worth the price but it also depends on the model you get. The Mexican made Luccheses are good but they're not as good as the US made.

A friend had a cobbler tell him that the only real difference between a comparable Lucchese and Tecovas was the insole/footbed. I love my Tecovas. It's pretty obvious that Tecovas and, now, Cuero are trying to compete with Lucchese. Lucchese _are_ made here in Texas, whereas Tecovas and Cuero boots are made in Leon, MX. I just got a pair of Cueros on sale (Jeremiah had a video about them here) and really like them. I have had great experience with both companies as far as customer service goes. When I ordered the Cueros (their chocolate ropers; beautiful color), autofill inserted my SSN (!) in the address line; a phone call fixed that. Tecovas was great to deal with when I had a maintenance issue. I figured I'd share that because there are all kinds of videos out there that I think are misleading.
We have a Lucchese store here and I was looking at the Lucchese Carson's but I love Tecovas The Jackson and The Cartwright. My birthday is coming up and I want to buy a pair of boots!!

Man those r slick. Perfect square toe with single stitch welt. So glad they didnt do that ugly af wide toe with double stitch
double stitch is the way to go if you are on a ranch and in water , snow, or mud.

I love the wider fit. I have problems with shoes being wide enough. My foot will change during the day. I have almost hobbitt feet. I just got a pair of Tecovas and will get another. I have room for my foot to expand in the boot.
Got mine. Did an unboxing video to show the black version. Unfortunately had to send them back for a half size down. Should be here in a couple days. It is even more impressive in person. And the smell is intoxicating!

I hear it's a Texas wide thing for the most part! Not everyone but a lot of folks for sure. Once you get up north, there are much fewer square toe around. More round toe. It's interesting to see how geographic areas like different styles

Yeah I like this boot. Would like it better if it fit but here's hoping for B widths!! I definitely haven't had that waterproof experience with double stitched welts. My Dan Post Thin Reds are not waterproof at all
Tecovas run a little narrow on me. The square toe might work.

imho these are best modern day cowboy boots the pointed toes look over the top if you wear them in a formal setting or even in some urban setting these square toes look just the right mix of traditional and modern style

I'm a victim of narrow feet also. Not much selection out there - none at Tecovas - but some brands have them. I end up getting custom boots for lots more money! Sigh...

@@JeremiahCraig I suspect we can't make manufacturer recommendations on this site, but I am a huge fan of Roper style boots and one company makes a great assortment of B widths. Can't really think of their name right now but "perhaps" it starts with the letter "J"......

Thanks Chris! They haven't said it outright but it's pretty obvious to me that Tecovas is directly challenging Lucchese. Whenever they say the "retail value" of their boots is $425 or whatever, that's what it would be if Lucchese made it. Even the Tecovas style is similar to Lucchese. I've tried Luccheses and I think the quality reflects how much more expensive they are. Lucchese has years of experience getting their fit just right. I know a pair of 10.5 Tecovas won't fit me because of the arch placement but the Luccheses do. Here is my review where the 10.5 D Luccheses fit me well: th-cam.com/video/8P4O399C_G4/w-d-xo.html. The leather is also really nice. In my opinion, Luccheses boots are better overall and worth the price but it also depends on the model you get. The Mexican made Luccheses are good but they're not as good as the US made.

A friend had a cobbler tell him that the only real difference between a comparable Lucchese and Tecovas was the insole/footbed. I love my Tecovas. It's pretty obvious that Tecovas and, now, Cuero are trying to compete with Lucchese. Lucchese _are_ made here in Texas, whereas Tecovas and Cuero boots are made in Leon, MX.
I just got a pair of Cueros on sale (Jeremiah had a video about them here) and really like them. I have had great experience with both companies as far as customer service goes. When I ordered the Cueros (their chocolate ropers; beautiful color), autofill inserted my SSN (!) in the address line; a phone call fixed that. Tecovas was great to deal with when I had a maintenance issue. I figured I'd share that because there are all kinds of videos out there that I think are misleading.

Earls were actually too small for me and they were 11Ds as well. So these are wider... which is normal for square toes in general.

For some reason the slope of the toe curve just doesn't do it for me. Maybe it's the "French toe" influence. I'll probably still buy a pair! ;-)
The words "French toe" should never be used to refer to a cowboy boot.

They remind me of dress shoe, but has a boot look. Tecovas just seem like a cowboy boot that does not want to be a real cowboy boot.

We have way different problems with boots. Im a 10 4EE (extra wide) and afraid that these narrow 2EE with the narrow square toe are going to be way too narrow? Now im confused on what size i should get?
