- Welcome back to Next-Gen Console Watch! It's a two-man show this week, with Daemon joined by Unlocked's Ryan McCaffrey to talk gamescom 2024 predictions. How hard will Xbox go, considering they're the only major console manufacturer attending? Could we finally see the Xbox handheld? Maybe some release dates for upcoming games? Plus we go over the previous poll results, and have a new poll for you to vote on at IGN.com.

How xbox hasn't had a single memorable hardware bundle since the xbox one generation is beyond me. Just sell an X bundled with BO6 and 3 months of game pass and make the hardware more appealing to the casual audiences.
You don't need to attach BO6 to a bundle where GP is also included...
Also Shattered Space and possibly even more DLC for Starfield.
Was hoping to hear more about the Sony/Bungie layoff and how it might affect destiny news especially since they had much to say about hifi rush and XBOX/Tango layoff.🤔
Its a different situation. Bungie had 900 staff and overhired in last 2 years to 1300 to inflate their value to Sony and Sony overpaid them . Bungie Ceo and management is to blame not Sony. Sony did lay offs at the start of the year and they are to blame for that but not in this case.
Wasnt tango shut down ? Bungie isnt shut down, bungie is still there its just they laid of 200 folks and merged 155 or so folks with sony for a new studio. Destiny is still going to be supported. Its not even close to what happened to tango or arkane
When are the 'experts' going to realize that hardware sales is NOT the primary goal anymore. Subscriptions, services and the ability to play on almost any device is the future. And in that space, xbox is huge.

@@tmckain5532 It may be the future of gaming (unfortunately), but it’s not the future for Xbox. They’ve been at it for a few years and they’re still dead last in hardware and software sales when compared to Sony and PlayStation.
It’s not the primary goal for Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo still want hardware sales. Microsoft are not the ones deciding what is going to be the norm and whatnot in this industry.
Yes console revenue down but content and services up 61 percent and we've yet to see what black ops 6 could do for Xbox console sales

Xbox also need more exclusives for Xbox only or at least timed exclusives then PC release. That way it gives people more of a reason to look into buying Xbox. We also need to see exclusives take full advantage of what the Series X can do. Also there is a lack of 3rd person exclusive action games yet tons of shooters on Xbox. They need to expand the field a bit more.
58 of the 61% was due to purchase of Activision. The hardware point is relevant as pc gamepass has underperformed expectation. However, will be interesting to see if both hardware and PC gamepass may change following the next few years release window. In addition as gamepass becomes more expensive, and the limit on stacking and rewards being reduced has any drag on numbers.

Crimson Desert is a single player game and it had one of the best trailers among all games teased in 2023. If you decide to mention something, please take the time to actually check what are you talking about.

The Native XBox Handheld will be announced at The 2024 Game Awards in December.
It will probably be released in 2026 with The Next Gen XBox.

Crimson Desert has been my number 1 game for the last 5 years. and its not an MMO
I've been waiting ages for an xbox handheld, as long as you can have your games on the actual console and not just play on the cloud. It would be awesome playing all my library when traveling or in the comfort of my bed, it's a no brainier.

Xbox needs a game that will sell their hardware, if they didnt ruin halo, they could have had just that.
They are making controllers because they are getting out of the console market. If they wanted to get console hardware sales they need to start making games. There's is only one more generation of Xbox console.

What is with IGN's obsession with the Xbox handheld? Xbox are struggling to sell home consoles, the last thing they need is to enter the handheld market.
Obviously you know little about xBox business. If in your mind Xbox consoles are aim to compete the same level as Nintendo and PS, then you are wrong. That was in the past, a Xbox console it’s considered just another interface to play Xbox games and gamepass. A handheld would be a perfect move for Microsoft for this purpose. That’s what many channels like this are failing to realize!
Because it's a big deal and would be Xboxs first handheld console. Why wouldn't they want to talk about it...
@@irjo then in that case, we already have handhelds that do that. Steam Deck, ROG Ally, Lenovo Legion Go, etc are all capable of doing that. Not to mention phones can connect to Xcloud to play games.
That is an absolutely poor/terrible take on the market situation with XBOX. 🤦🏼♀️ If anything, the lack of console sales means bringing an XBOX handheld to market could be helpful to Microsoft.
