  • It's the world's most closed country, over the last few decades, very few foreigners and even fewer journalists have gained access to North Korea.
    TRT World’s Imran Garda was invited to visit the so-called hermit kingdom to take part in the Pyongyang marathon and be shown the city's tourist sites. It's a country known for its ballistic missile tests, its nuclear capabilities and a well trodden path of sabre rattling. But it's also a country governed by the Juche ideal of self reliance and a country with enormous national pride. A country of paradoxes, this is ‘The Newsmakers in North Korea.’

      It's because their all slaves to a regime and there's no room for progress or advancement for the pp who work harder than others. Why don't you talk about the 500 hundred thousand plus pp in concentration camps. All these pp are brainwashed in to thinking the same from day one their birth. Don't make stupid comments about something you know nothing about.

    • @KafanskaTV
      @KafanskaTV 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +but2star Religion has nothing to do with it and it's completely pointless in your whole comment. In most other countries people are free to be, to do and to own. That of course creates competition and will lead to SOME crime. But it also leads to progress. In North Korea EVERYONE is a victim of the crime at all times, the crime of being completely controlled, doing just what they're told to do. Freedom with a possibility of some crimes is still much better than being in a completely controlled environment, where you're controlled as well.
      They may have less murders committed by one citizen over another, but the amount of people government tortures and kills more than compensates for it and testimonies from those lucky one who managed to escape the country will give you the best picture of what it's like beyond the stage set for journalists.

    • @maidy199
      @maidy199 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      but2star While I am not sure how is your comment relevant to mine, what are the sources to your information?

    • @KafanskaTV
      @KafanskaTV 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +but2star In most countries religion and government are separate things. Religious rules are not the law and religion can't punish people with their ancient punishment techniques. Few places where that can happen are a few islamic countries where religion is law and sharia law is practiced. But even there people have more freedom than people in NK, and with freedom of will comes a lot of stuff, some crime included.
      The point is that in NK you basically have no, or very little free will to choose as an ordinary citizen. You must work and praise the leading dynasty as gods. So it's actually a more extreme religious country than even most/all religious countries.

      One's expected to attain a permit in order to travel outside of the CITY. The subway line is merely transports citizens throughout the city. Thus, citizens are capable of boarding the train considering that it is the most inexpensive and efficient method towards traveling throughout the city.

      I've seen docs in the past where the minders are also insistent that the statues must be filmed in whole from head to toe. The minders are all bark with little bite.
      The DPRK is always letting in film crews and they know the doc will be edited into a negative light once outside of NK, but they need the exposure even if it's negative exposure so as to lure in more tourists for the hard currency that fuels the lifestyles of the their elite.

    • @jodihouts6032
      @jodihouts6032 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Andrew America has a higher percentage of people in prison. We also have more police brutality on camera. We have prison labor. We have the death penalty. Flint water is still poisoned with lead and we make them pay for it. There are areas of cities most people avoid and consider high risk. 3.5 million homeless. Millions with no health care. We hate them because we suffer from our own propaganda, not necessarily what we do say but the parts we leave out. Take a good hard look at our own country before hating on others.

    This Imran Garda is an easily led fellow. While he acknowledges that there are huge restrictions on what he can film, i.e. state controlled censorship which therefore should be an anathema to him as he's a journalist, he simultaneously seems to buy into the transparent propaganda that North Korea feed anyone who visits their country. For example, he freely calls the US the "aggressors", though of course it was North Korea itself which began the Korean War of the early 1950's. He then gets a secretive tour of the large and (apparently - we don't get to see inside) impressive science facility though he never questions why there are no students in there, only to add that "they come in the afternoon". Why only in the afternoon? If this building is so incredible and so advanced (and big), wouldn't the schools be sending their students there time and time again regardless of whether it was morning or afternoon? But no, Imran happily and submissively accepts the restrictions, the lies, and the propaganda and comes away all starry-eyed as if he really does believe that the Kim rulers are godlike beings.

    In just the first 1:39 seconds this video already starts out like so many other video's shot by outsiders. He states that reporters are normally not allowed, and that there are strict guidelines to follow. So in reality no matter how you dress up a video about the DPRK and namely Pyongyang you are really not going to see, or hear anything different. The DPRK always states that they want to open up to tourism but at what price to the tourist? North Korea needs foreign currency desperately because their money is basically worthless. The want the Chinese money, the USA money, any currency other then their own. In reality the only reason most people visit North Korea today is because it is like the accident on the freeway, you just need to slow down and see the brutality of it all, and NK is exactly the same. If NK wants to bring in tourism more then stop with the minders, stop oppressing your own people, let your people leave if they want, travel where they want, and be able to choose their own leaders, until then NK will stagnate even more.

    In case someone actually believes that all the N. Korean metro stations are like this, there is a reason tourists are only allowed to see 2 or 3 stations.

    The people of North Korea seem very sweet and cordial. They are not the evil people that the media portrays them to be. I am scared and sad for them. They are so isolated and uninformed. They are taught from very early that American's are Imperialists and are the reason for their food shortages and power outages. I pray that everyone will just calm down and not start a nuclear war.
