  • In this video, I go over different schedules of reinforcement including fixed ratio, variable ratio, fixed interval, and variable interval. I also touch on schedule thinning and ratio strain. I provide examples throughout the video test you at the end with more examples.

Thank you so much for helping me understand this more. On the task list this was the most difficult for me to understand. The way you broke down ratio and interval made it extremely easier to relate to actual scenarios in real life! Im taking my exam tomorrow!!

Hi! I'm so blessed to have had the chance to bump into your videos.I have been looking for free ABA sessions since this service i s not accessible in our area beside the fact that it's too pricey. If it would not be too much to ask, I am requesting a video about how to handle tantrums whenever a child wants to escape a task whether at home or in school. the school where my son is enrolled in doesn't apply ABA to it's students so I researched on my own. The moment my son enters his class, his teacher immediately wants him to go to his new classroom and do a task, then my son starts saying no but the teacher keeps pushing him inside the room and forces him to do a task until my son gets completely stressed out by covering his ears and making loud sounds. by the way,my son is minimally verbal and the teacher is also under the spectrum .I keep telling the teacher to let my son settle and be comfortable with the environment for a few minutes and he will be doing what is asked of him .this is our experience at home.if he is asked to do a task or is commanded to do something and he says no,then we say okay ,just do it later, after just a few seconds, you will see him doing what he was asked to do awhile back. hope you can help me on this so that i could show it to my son's teacher

do the correct responses have to be consecutive? if there are errors to correct in between the responses, do you restart over, or are you looking at the total number of responses in the trial run?

May i ask something, i have this task of mine that i have to learn something with behaviorism theories. So i choose my learning process to increase my sleep time due to my vertigo. So my target is i have to sleep min 5 hours a day, and my learning process is 2 week. I have to increase my target per week, so if in week 1 i have to sleep for 4 hours, in week 2 i hove to sleep 5 hour (target). What confuse me is what schedules i have to use in 1 week so that i have to sleep 5 hours everyday in a week to gain reinforcer. I'm really confuse but i need it for my finale exam, and thank you so much for your explanation it help me a lot.

Again a wonderful naive presentation in the world of the reductionistic, superficial and inane! We do not do, "..Those behaviors that become intermittently reinforced or not." It is rather much more nuanced and complex than this 75 yr old reductionistic nonsense! Enter the little word called, "organism" which lives between the S(timulus) and R (esponse). Basically, without giving a long expose here, it is the intra and interpersonal registering, processing and understanding of the multiple nuances of nonverbal affective (i.e., visual-facial, auditory-prosodic, tactile-gestural communication) directly linked and bi-directionally connected with our intra and interpersonal autonomic nervous systems (e.g. "Do I feel from a ventral vagus perspective, safe to engage with you and my surroundings or is my sympathetic-adrenal system adaptively mobilized for fight/flight defensive behaviors or worse, not safe and therefore adaptively mobilized in dorsal parasympathetic withdrawal/shutdown and/or dissociation).
