- These boat seats get fresh patterns without tracing the old covers. This way is super simple and yields great fitting covers for this boat seating. I sprinkled some pro sewing tips throughout this video, I hope you enjoy!
*The supplies I use are often from a wholesale distributor and links to those are not available. I have found similar supplies available online, and I will share those sites.
If there is a local upholstery shop in your area, they may be willing to sell raw materials to you, including foam, thread etc. This is a great option because you can likely see samples before ordering.

Nice work J9!! I literally busted out laughing when your bobbib ran out with 2" of seam left....happens EVERY time!! ( 3x's for me yesterday lol) Nifty little trim trick regarding the seam bulk trim for topstitch...I learned something thanks!!

Thank you! I generally buy materials from a wholesale supplier, but here are two places I found that sell online - www.albrightssupply.com and www.sailrite.com. What is the brand and model of your sewing machine? Most I see do not have as large as swing.

Jenine...I am setting up my own small shop... seriously thinking going straight to a 25" long arm...thoughts? ( 24x8 table surface)
That sounds like a great setup! Depending on what you're sewing, a long arm is not always necessary. But, it sure is nice to have the extra room most of the time. Good luck to you with your shop!
@@j9theupholsterer Thanks for the response...I just figure that the longarm will do everything a standard will do, but I'll have the benefit of the extra material wrestle room built in... boat canvas and cushionwork.
Jenine...sorry...questions questions... never heard of the Chikon machine...but evidently it's a decent machine...a Seiko /Consew clone. Have you had any issues with it, like it, and...about how much are they? Can't find pricing info on them anywhere?...I am considering either a Consew 206RB-25..or NC6 machine. Just wondering if I should be considering the Chikon?
It's a great machine! I've had it since 2019 and love it, no issues at all with it. Mine was purchased from Mason Sewing in Vancouver, Canada and I think was around $5000 CAD new. I wanted to find a used one, but there were none available for me at the time. I think it's definitely worth considering in my opinion, but I've only used an old Pfaff and old Consew to compare it to over the years. Both of those were clutch motors vs the servo on my Chikon.
