Surgical tape does the same thing and it is semiclear. But what I use is a little dots of E 6000 glue. I put about six dots on a 6 x 12 ruler where won’t block anything and make sure this evening. It won’t tip the ruler. I think I’m the only one that’s ever tried it but I have tipped up a couple of the ladies in my Quilt guild, and they love it too. One of those ladies tipped me off about the tape. My glue is cheap and I keep it around for elder uses, and the tape is dirt cheap and goes a long way. But thank you for sharing. Very generous of you
This is what I use on templates, works great. My CG rulers are good without it so far. You really only need a few tiny pieces on each one so yeah that much would last forever.
Thank you for sharing this excellent idea. I often wondered how to get those rulers to not slip so easily and you have shown a great way to make them work. How did you discover that this would work? I’m amazed.
Thanks. I was trying to remember where I saw this mentioned 4-5 years ago. I know I tried the medical adhesive tape trick before hearing about skateboard tape and that just didn't seem to work well for me.
My quilt is an interpretation of a Houston International competition quilt by French artist Gabrielle Paquin called "Two Friends" (or maybe "Best Friends"). Paquin has a series of butterfly quilts and I fell in love with the first one I saw of red butterflies against dark gray striped background that I decided to get some Halloween colored stripe fabric to make my butterflies more Monarch like. So it's not technically my design, but I did draft it based off Paquin's work. Thanks for watching!
emphysema here a quick one one or two second squirt outside has no side effects. I did try various tapes first and everyone that sticks to the ruler wasn’t as smooth. Then I went and bought those expensive rollers that promiseno slip, Mery Christmas to me..
I use medical tape, its cheap and works fine. Skater tape, most sports tapes contain latex adhesives. If you have a latex allergy, be mindful of tapes.
One of the disappointing things I learned as a new quilter is that the so-called "non-slip" rulers -- that I paid extra for -- slip just as much as regular rulers. After ruining some expensive fabric due to rulers and cuts slipping, I put some non-slip tape on my non-slip rulers and problem solved!
You’ve done Creative Grids a great disservice. When you showed it sliding around so easily, you had a finger-light touch on it. I use them constantly in my quilting and by putting pressure on the abrasive spots, they do not slide at all.
Like you, I like Creative Grids a lot. But the fact is that all rulers slip except those that are treated in some way. This video isn't about buying new rulers, it's about helping your rulers not to slip. I've actually resorted to sticking fine sandpaper to parts of mine. This is much better.
Some people aren’t able to apply the pressure needed to stop slippage. Anything that helps prevent slippage can be a game changer. Quilters Select rulers are wonderful.

Great idea, but, um, what is that BEAUTIFUL quilting on the wall? It is gorgeous!!
Thanks! That's a small piece I made for a show a couple years ago.
THANK YOU!!! Shifting Omni rulers has always been a problem for me. I am ordering my tape today. Again thanks for sharing.😊
Very clever! Never heard of this stuff. Thank you for sharing this, it will save fingers and fabric.
Wow thank you for this. Just ordered some and cannot wait as slipping has been my biggest issue
Awesome hack! Much more accurate cuts
Great idea! Thanks for sharing. I can't wait to try it!
Fantastic! Thanks for sharing.
Brilliant! Thank you so much
Awesome tip! Thanks so much.
super thank you!
Wow, what a great idea. Thank you so much! ❤
By the way: the butterfly quilt is so beautiful
Thanks!
FABULOUS!!!!
I would use a rotary cutter with a paper blade in it. Some sites use sandpaper to sharpen the blade so that might be an advantage.
Fantastic idea🎉
Thanks for sharing😊
Great idea thank you
Also try medical adhesive or tape. Super cheap, temporary solution.
Sounds like a good solution for you. Thanks for watching!

@ It didn’t work for me either.
Great tip! I use nexcare tape from the pharmacy dept at walmart
Sounds like a good solution for you. Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much !🙏🏼
I have used anti slip tape for stairs, or the bathtub before, but never skate tape. Awesome suggestion 😀
Quilters Select rulers are the way to go.
Fantastic information
Oh wow! Thank you for sharing! Hopefully this will help with my fear of cutting fabric bc my rulers love to slide!
WOW! Thanks!😊
You need to type in Skate BOARD tape, to get the right thing. Thanks for the tip.
Thanks for the correction.
Fantastic!!!
Thank you!
Please tell me about the quilt on the wall behind you. It's fabulous. Is it a pattern or your own design??

Grippy spray is less hassle and works in 1 minute.
Thanks for the suggestion. I tend to have breathing issues with sprays but I'm glad it works for you.

It's not a sports tape, it's more like a sticky sandpaper roll. Glad the med tape works for you. Thanks for watching.

I have been using normal sticky tape in a loop or double sided sticky tape for years. This hack though it seems good is not necessary.
I use a lot smaller pieces of skate tape on my rulers!
I bought something like this made for rulers and found that it was hard to see the lines through it. But it does hold!

LOL. I love Creative Grids, but they can slide a bit. Obviously not as crazy as a brand new Fiskars or Omnigrids ruler. Thanks for watching!

Quilters Select rulers are wonderful.
I have been using this for years. Very very small pieces. I also get the transparent.
Creative Grids is overpriced. Never buy them. Been quilting over 40 years .
Use the word "inexpensive"! Cheap sounds crude
