I love your technique to making the pattern. I recently redid a complete interior for a Beneteau sailboat and did a similar approach with alignment marks. But I did not cut on the seam allowance and probably added 5-10% to my labor unnecessarily. I'm looking forward to the next video, which hopefully will help me with my own personal reupholster project on my 2004 Maxum 18' bowrider, whose seats are much rattier than what you have in this video. I'll probably have to replace the foam too. Thank you so much for posting this content! -Paul D, NC
Thank you so much. It sounds like you have a big job ahead of you! Foam replacement can be a fun challenge for sure. If some of the foam is salvageable, sometimes it can be steamed back to life to avoid replacing all of it. Good luck to you!
I'd suggest looking for a used machine that has reverse and a walking foot. For thread and needle, it depends what you sew. I often use a #19 needle and 92 or 138 thread size.
Thanks so much for the reply, your videos are so detailed and far better then most that I have watched hopefully you continue making them as I look forward to learning more
@@j9theupholsterer I am also looking for recommendations. Is there a specific brand\type of machine i should look for. I am taking on a project to redo all the cushions on my '91 bow rider. It's my first sewing project. I plan to follow the guidance of your videos to make it through. Any other pointers would be very much appreciated!
@@kaotix147 I have used older Pfaffs and Consews, both were great. My machine in the videos is a newer Chikon and I love it. An industrial machine with a walking foot and reverse is ideal, brands can vary on preference. Don't be afraid to make mistakes, it's a great way to learn! Good luck to you, and thank you for watching! :)
Great video! I was apprehensive at first about upholstery and boat cushions but you make it look so easy. Thanks!
Thank you, and you're welcome! It is easy, you can do it :)
I really like the way you are separating & marking all your pieces. Thank you for your time to teach. Really enjoy watching
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
