  • In this video we explain in step-by-step instructions how to install a side stand / kickstand on your bicycle.
There are different variants of side stands, which is why we are covering different types of side stands (center based and tail based)
The installation process is very easy and only requires minimal tools. Most often the tools are even supplied with the side stand.

Thanks for the instructional video. I went and bought another Trek because my first two were stolen, and it’s a 29er which doesn’t come with a stand of any sort. I buy the nicest one online without looking to see if it’ll work…turns out it doesn’t have the frame piece welded for centre frame installing, like your first type of stand mentioned in the video. I ended up buying another one online that is held on with two Allen screws, much like the third example in your video. Would you be interested in an extra centre frame kickstand by any chance? Thanks.

Very helpful. I do have one question about the second style of kickstand. When you are installing this on an aluminum frame bicycle, do you have to be careful about how tight you make the two bolts? In other words, is there a risk of overtightening and distorting the aluminum tubes? And, the style that I have has an adjustable arm between the two stays, so it can be fitted closer to or a bit further away from the wheel hub. Is there any reason why it needs to be kept closer to the wheel hub versus a little further away? (I wonder if being a bit further away might provide more leverage that could possibly distort the frame. What do you think?

Do not get the single mount one, its impossible to tighten enough to where it supports the bike
