- In this video tutorial I demonstrate and explain how to remove the pedals from a bicycle and then install a new or different set in their place. The pedals I'm demonstrating in this video are 9/16" x 20 tpi threads, which are the most common universal size. Bikes which have one-piece-cranks typically use 1/2" x 20 tpi threads, but the procedure is exactly the same for these.
The pedal wrench I used in this video is a Filzer PW-3, but this video is not sponsored in any way.

Thanks for watching.
I watched 5 other videos on how to do this and none of them explained the reverse threads or to rotate in opposite directions! I would have never known. I wish I would have watched this before I snapped one of my impact bits. Thank you.
Used the balance on one Pedal and push down with other foot, worked a treat. Lifesaver !!
Are you really an expert to fix bikes
Thanks for the hand direction trick. Simple thing to remember and it definitely worked!
And now I'll show you how to do the same for pedals which have an Allen socket. No I won't.
My pedals were super tight, stepping on the pedal and wrench did the trick!
What if my pedal screw is slightly bent and pedal won't turn properly??
you seriously are a bike university
Thank you for sharing super helpful, such a simple video yet so valuable!! struggled with trying to figure out which direction I go especially when the pedals are seized on there
I don't know what a 1 or 3 piece style crank is. I'm buying a Kent Margaritaville Cruiser that needs a pedal replacement
Good vid. Concise, to the point and easy to follow. BS kept to a minimum.
Watched a few videos on which direction to turn the spanner for each pedal - and this right-hand rule is BY FAR the best AND simplest! Cheers!!
Great job explaining the directions to remove the pedals.
Great vid helped so much because my pedals were stuck and I had no idea which way to turn them. Thanks for explaining things thoroughly and simply.
This one was the best pedal uninstall/install I've seen yet because it assumes you're a layperson without a bike stand. This is just how I was doing it. Watched the left pedal a couple of times and everything worked out fine. I liked that you used several different tools and techniques as well.
Very helpful as always!!!!!!!
Excellent in every aspect.
Thank you for sharing your technique, by far the best and I removed my pedals which was initially stuck without a problem. 🙏
Excellent tutorial! Just what I needed.
Great instructional video. Very well presented. Really helped. Thank you!
