I took my Club Edition down to the country club and ordered a clubhouse sandwich and a vodka club soda and suddenly all was right with the world. Namaste
Three takeaways here: 1. Despite your valid observations on the negatives, I still want one. Now. 2. There's been a lot of in-depth reviews on this car, yours managed to offer up new valuable insights. 3. These videos are perfect getaways. Best enjoyed in a comfortable chair, with some headphones, and a cold beer. Keep them coming...
I can confirm this car is everything they say it is and more, Owning a 2016 Grand Touring trim myself with the 6 MT. It is the best Miata yet in my opinion and i've driven all of the generations. NA,NB,NC and now the ND. I've seen the higher mileage base 2016 Sport trims well under 20K at this point, but i'd go for atleast a Club if possible. Such a fantastic car and absolutely worth every penny if you have the money to spare. Fantastically reliable too, Up to 60K miles now with nothing but fluid changes and tire rotations. Bulletproof car as far as I can tell so far as all Miata's tend to be, And I haven't exactly babied her either. Beautiful for a Miata too in my opinion, and the Bose sound kicks and is a very welcome addition to a car that has had historically poor audio performance.
I am going to give you what I believe to be the ultimate compliment in auto journalism. When you say something, I believe it. You're not a hype artist or a selfie stick vlog douche bag clown. You're a grown man with a balanced view in all of your reviews. I also learn a ton with the mechanic shop segment.
Best video reviews anywhere. Just a super job, music, editing, photography, commentary. The under lift sections are great. No doubt this was a huge undertaking. I've said it before I'll say it again. Please put up a Patreon or sell some shirts so we can give you money. Curious, what roads were you on?
Excellent review. It's the most balanced review I've seen. It shows the sophistication of the engineering, the driving dynamics of the car, the major shortcomings of the vehicle and the production quality of the video was top notch. I think anyone who is seriously considering buying this automobile should watch this video.
I bought a new 2018 MX-5 GT almost two years ago, and I absolutely love it. It’s my daily driver, including through NE Ohio winters (with a separate set of wheels shod with winter tires). You hit many great points during your review. I would only add that the car’s shortcomings are far outweighed by its other qualities. If you can learn to live with such a small car, or make compromises, it’s well worth the trade offs.
Excellent! Excellent! Excellent! Review. Phenomenal intro! Excellent camera work. Every other TH-cam reviewer needs to watch your videos. These videos are THAT GOOD! Two gearheads / tuners under the car talking in depth about the suspension . Pop the hood and talking about in depth about the engine - intake, exhaust, etc.Simple, simple, simple and yet so many other car reviewers get it wrong because they lack technical knowledge or don't take the time to properly communicate it. Thank you for your passion and hard work. I look forward to every review!!!

1.5L is where it's at! :D I don't miss a thing in mine. Revs quicker, revs higher and the gauge seems to be connected straight to your smile.
This may sound ridiculous, but one of the things that I love most about your reviews is the use of music. Sometimes it is extremely subtle, sometimes providing a strong statement. Love the attention to details like this.
I've got over 17K miles on my ND now. It's wearing a set of Bridgestone Blizzaks for NH winter, it did quite well this year. Of all the reviews on the MX-5 ND since it came out this is still the best.
Savagegeese I’m currently watching your history of the Miata series and just happened to go back and watch some of your older reviews on the Miata. I used to own an NB as a daily driver. Best driver’s car I ever had. I love your videos! Your love for all things automotive is so obvious with the quality of the videos you are producing. Great work!
Your review is really in depth. You look deep into the engineering that went into making this car then comparing to what is out there. Nice job of going over the good points but also pointing to the flaws. I watched this many times over plus the Engineering Explained & Consumer Reports reviews. Then saw an Autoblog Long Term Winter Test where they had this 2016 MX-5 Club up in Michigan. Putting all this info together convinced me I could make the 2016 MX-5 Club my daily driver here in Illinois. Traded in my practical Honda Accord V6 Coupe to get this 2 seat roadster ! My plan will be to enjoy the heck out of it now but when winter comes get a set of snow tires. Short commutes to work. Single, no family its perfect for me. 1st convertible for me ever & loving it ! Driving this car is a blast ! I always look forward to my drive now & frequently take the long way home. Quite the bargain !
@@dcarts5616 46 years of owning & driving cars. This 2016 MX-5 Club with Brembo brakes & BBS wheels has been the best one. As a daily driven roadster its been amazing in the 4 season weather of Northern Illinois. I look forward to each drive & yes its 4 years later. Has been thru Ice / snow / monsoon type storms / extremely cold & extremely hot weather. Mazda engineers have built a hell of a car.
I think the real question you have to ask is " can I live with a 2 seat roadster with minimal storage space " ? On my grocery store runs usually Buy for a 2 week period so the truck gets filled & the passenger seat becomes extra storage space. The people I've had as passengers usually love the experience. I calm my inner hooligan on those rare occasions. During the Pandemic this car has been a mood changer ! Put the top down after a hard day at work & the air flowing over you with the sunshine makes you forget why you were upset. Try to put a price on that feeling when walking out for a drive you get an increase in heart rate. Its good on gas even though its Premium every fill up I don't mind it. Would I Buy it again ? Yes without a doubt. THAT may be the best thing I can tell you.
+savagegeese LOVE it! I haven't really opened Mikasa up yet (there's a good reason for that name) because I want to get xpel ultimate on the hood and bumper before I go on the highway and get rock chips
These reviews are honestly amazing. I look forward to all of your videos...your in depth knowledge of cars with Turboskis experience as a mechanic are unbeatable. Keep doing this. You deserve (and will get) more subs in the future. Definitely worth anyones time that wants to learn more about cars
Proud 2nd Owner of a 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata 6 MT Grand Touring in Jet Black Mica with Tan Leather after seeing this video all 6 years ago with my first car being an NA.. It was hard between the GT and Club for me, but to me all the extra tech in the GT seemed really cool in a Miata while still saying light, Thanks for all the great content over the years, Keep it up, best car reviews on YT.
The underside of the MX-5 looks very similar to my RX8. Especially the front suspension. I'm so glad you show the undercarriage of the cars you review. You can really tell what was engineered with care and effort. Hope to see you review the CX-9 when it's available.
I'm gonna be getting a manual Grand Touring model of this car as a daily driver in a few weeks. :) I pack super-light anyway. I can get away with a 40L backpack (Mission Workshop R6 Arkiv) for a month long trip if need be, and I have a camera bag (Peak Designs Everyday Messenger) for day trips. Anything else is just clutter. If I can fit my 40L backpack plus a 24-in roller bag into the trunk (which it looks like I can), that's plenty of space. For cabin storage, I only need place on the dash to mount my phone, a cigarette lighter to charge it with, and a small cubby for a coin box. Sunglasses can go in that little center console cubby. The way I see it, as someone who drives in a big city (LA), I see lots of people who use Smart ForTwos and Fiat 500s around here, and everytime I see one, I just think to myself, "If you wanted a small, light, 2-seat car that can fit in any parking space you find, why didn't you just get a Miata?"
A couples mod I did to my S2000 that makes it more useful for 2020. - Rear auto dim mirrors with Homelink. I don't get blinded by cars behind me anymore. - Start engine without depressing clutch - Open/Close convertible top without being stationary. Pull the hand brake one click to activate. - Hardwire a GPS (Speed/School zone warning), USB ports for phones, dash cams (behind rear mirror), foot-well lights. They are all hidden away behind "glove box" space. - Modifry's DCI control and GPS mounts I put mine on sale few times but never really want to sell it. I recently drove it with winter tires and it's still amazing.
Thanks to this video I decided to get an nd2 rf miata, my fiancé and I love it. It's our daily driver and grocery getter, this little car car has become part of our family.
The 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL was the first production sports car to use direct injection. The Bosch fuel injectors were placed into the bores on the cylinder wall used by the spark plugs in other Mercedes-Benz six-cylinder engines (the spark plugs were relocated to the cylinder head). You would think direct injection wouldn't be a problem in 2016.
it's not the direct injection, it's the exhaust gas recirculation! old cars didn't had to reburn the exhaust gases. port injection cleans the valves when it is sprayed. direct injection is sprayed into the cylinder.
Haven't seen a better review of the Miata, a review which actually takes up the shortcomings of the car, but I one ordered anyway as a secondary car for my wife. This will be a perfect fun car for my wife eventhough we are living in cold climate (Sweden)... It will get delivered next week, can't watt!
I actually have this car (Canadian GT trim, 6-MT), and your assessment in the driving impression is spot on. Now that it's winter and I have snow tires on and there's ice everywhere, I can't throw it into corners the way I did in the summer. So I keep coming back to this video - to look at the driving impression portion and relive those moments. I can't wait till thawing season.
I test-drove this for he first time yesterday. I wasn't exceptionally well-disposed to it; for instance, hours of TH-cam videos had given me the impression that I didn't like the car's visuals. Well, all changed once I had it in front of me. It attracted me like a magnet, starting from the metallic paint, which, even in colours different from the special red, isn't average quality: it shines, even the grey colour. Then I got on the car. And I was astonished at how comfortable it is, dimensionally (I am 5'10", and have no slim body). I was astonished at the interiors quality... I am not saying perceived quality I am saying quality. Every inch of the interior is designed in the smartest possible way both for your comfort and your enjoyment for keen driving. By the time I had driven it for 5 minutes, I was unable to understand how people would pick a Megane RS, a Hyundai i30N/Veloster N, a Golf GTI, a 1 Series/A3/TT/Z4/A Class, well pretty much any other car in the world, if they don't need a real boot and two rear seats (which many people don't, because they live lonely or have two-three cars in their family). The dealer, too, said "This is a peculiar, odd car, an off choice". I wanted to reply: No, all other cars are weird choices, all but this one.
First, you guys are my favorite automotive review channel on TH-cam. Knowledgeable, no BS, and humorous. Love it. NOBODY else is showing the quality (or lack of) of the suspension and chassis and explaining it like you do. Keep up the great work. I went out and test drove an RF after watching your review to see if it was good enough to replace my '01 Z3 3.0i. I didn't love it enough to replace my Z, but it is certainly one of the best drivers cars being made today. So I'm going to wait a few years and let depreciation work its magic then I'll add one to the garage next to my Z :) IF it had 200-250 like you guys mentioned I would have traded the Z on the spot. But getting out of the Z and into the MX-5 makes that engine feel really weak by comparison. I love the TQ. of my 3L I6. Besides, I paid $11k for my Z with only 19K miles on it. $32k for the RF was a bit much to swallow for something that didn't totally make me forget about the Z.
I have a 2017 base model, very simple, none of those annoying electronic issues. I live in Southern California, so it's top down unless it's actually raining. It's a joy to drive, and that's all there is to it.
I daily drive an NB Miata and it's the perfect car for me, we have a Fit for family duties, but for driving pleasure nothing beats a Miata. This new ND Miata is the perfect evolution of the NA and NB, I test drove one and absolutely loved it. Mazda really does this car right, they get it.
This review of the Miata was the reason I bought a soul red one five years ago and I'm not disappointed! And I'm living in Sweden, cold climate as weĺl, it's hillarius to drive in the snow... I love my Miata!
Here's hoping 2021 will be the year that Savagegeese can afford both Jack and Turbowski. Need to hire Turbowski on board as lead mechanic at SavageGeese, and he can also make Arbys runs whenever the crew needs their fix.
Great video! I just got mine a few months ago and I love it! I live in Denver and the snow management on the road sucks no matter what car you have. This car actually handles better in the snow than the VW Passat that I had. Also if you live in places where it snows more, then the roads are probably properly cleared. It is also relatively warm in Denver even during the winter months so I did drive with the top down in January and February. I was worried this wasn’t going to be a practical every day car, but I commute everywhere with no problem. I don’t keep a lot of stuff in my car, so I don’t have a need for a lot of interior storage. I take a phone, my bag, and a few other necessities. This car has helped me learn to keep unnecessary things out of my car. It just got broken into and they got nothing!! The trunk is large enough for me to go on a regular grocery shopping trip. There are a lot of things I can’t fit, but my boyfriend has a bigger sedan. This is definitely a car for someone who lives alone or for a household with multiple cars. I was looking to get a BRZ, FRS, 328i, or a 370Z and I feel like I made the right choice. My biggest issue with this car is the placement of the charger port thing. You literally have to almost get on the floor to plug something in. They really messed up the placement in this car. Another thing that kind that disappointed me was the lack of a luxurious interior. The seats are not electric, the dash feels very basic, and it doesn’t match the stylish exterior. I came from a Lexus GS and a VW Passat so I might just not be used to the more simple interiors. It’s not a big deal, but it is going to cost a pretty penny to make cosmetic upgrades. The last negative for me is the Bluetooth speaker in the headrest. I can hear fine, but the person on the phone can’t hear me very well and when the call disconnects there is a loud beep that is almost painful. I love this car and the negatives I have are nitpicking and not huge dealbreakers for me. I’m likely going to upgrade my ND to a newer model in a few years. The only cars I would consider replacing it with are a Jaguar F-Type, an Audi TT, or a Mercedes SL. They are more expensive and as I get older I am having less and less patience for all of the extra expenses and babying that goes into owning a European car.
The 2019 version's comprehensive upgrade of the engine makes the car genuinely fast: it gets to 60 in the fives. I bought the Sport (base model) late in the model year at a bargain price, in the mid-24s. I don’t need no steenking Brembos!
Smart man. I bought a 2019 Sport in late February; didn't get as killer of a deal, but got the same killer car. At the base price of ~$25k, nothing touches this. Nothing comes close. A couple negatives still remain, but it's still automotive bliss.
Flying Miata has a "big little brake" kit that uses stock rotors but gives you 4 pot Wilwood calipers. I'm going to get the kit in the spring as the stock rear calipers stick from salt exposure from daily winter driving in central New Hampshire. Overall about 18 pound weight savings, they fit under 16" wheels. The price is quite reasonable, less than the Brembo option and includes the rear brakes. They don't have the flashy red paint, just grey anodizing, but quality parts.
@@michaelbrooker1433 Well, all I can say is, I'm a big fan of Flyin' Miata because I used their Stage 3 Turbo kit in my NA to give fits to Lotus Elite drivers. But as to upping braking performance from stock: Here in Northern California, in very hard twisty-road driving, never have I experienced a moment of brake fade using my base-model's standard binders. And I'm talking about the infamous Hwy 9 south of San Francisco, as it crosses the hill country on the way to Santa Cruz and full-power bursts coincide with all-in stomping of the brake pedal to prepare for an upcoming decreasing-radius hairpin. I've diced with 911s and WRXs, and never ran short of brakes in my MX-5 Sport. And they could not shake me loose. The reason is simple: 2340 pounds net weight, MANY hundreds less than anything from the usual denizens of Hwy. 9. And, I can drive my Sport at its highest level of grip, using slip-angle four-wheel drifts to get those skinny 16" Yokohama tires to their maximum lateral Gs, without ever feeling overwhelmed. The 911 and WRX pilots do not have this luxury, and so must keep their far more powerful beasts under lock and key on this narrow road. Autocross and track days are a different story. I know my car's lack of LSD would be a buzz-killer for autocross. But that just takes me back to this car's mission: As a classic British-style sports car, the MX-5's number-one purpose is not speed, but ultimate engagement with the driver. In a nutshell, it has been built from the ground up to be fun to drive. In this car, you can take a late-summer's day driving the amazing back roads from San Francisco to Point Reyes Station with your heart-throb and your little dog, and have a sublime picnic lunch on the beach as the waves pound onto the shore. And then, as the sun is sinking, you put the top up and the heat on and cruise effortlessly back to the city with the returning freeway traffic, and as your lived ones sleep you listen to a podcast using wireless earbuds connected to your iPhone, which is also giving you road reports and weather updates. All this in the bare-bones Sport, the one the dealers hide away because this car robs them blind! A word to motorheads: Get this car!
I have a daily driver 2007 touring edition. Not looking to buy this new version anytime soon but it is so great to see that Mazda still cares about the driver and the fun you can have with a car. Maybe in 8-10 years I’ll pick one of these up. Another nice review by SG.
Fantastic MX-5 review! I enjoyed it immensely..The quality of your video production and information you are providing put the other so called big name car reviewers on TH-cam to shame. Please keep them coming...
I'm a bit late to the party but I have to agree that this is one of the best MX-5 reviews out there. I'm picking up my 2.0l Recaro today and I've read/watched practically every review in English and German that I could find on the Web. I especially like the part in the shop, discussing/showing a car's underside. With that in mind, the local mazda-dealers I spoke to should be ashamed of themselves for not discussing the sophistication of the Miata's underpinnings with me. However: Watching this review and the AR 4C's back to back I have to wonder why the Alfa is so "heavy" despite its extensive use of carbon fibre while offering slightly less practicality and build quality and having the smaller engine (displacement-wise). But anyway: Great channel ... subscription button has been clicked. :)
There should be a way to fold that big TV screen down. Older viewers may recall those old travel clocks, a clamshell arrangement that has the clock pivot forward from the bottom on opening. A simple thing that would address my main complaint in the Club car, in fact I would go with the base car for just that reason. The Bilstein shocks will be available in the aftermarket, as will the shock brace. The LSD will be more complicated if one wants one. These are not GT cars, most driving will be on local roads, save all that crap GPS and infotainment for GT cars, with this car the car is the infotainment, basic stick and rudder/seat of the pants stuff. I want one, in black please with silver wheels.
Rocked another one. Seriously look forward to your uploads. Ever thought of doing some reviews of older cars on the used market? Lots of track cars and second/third cars are used, it would be great to see a SG/Turbowski review of some "future classics" or older favs. I'm with Turbowski, all this crap in new cars is ridiculous. Get the fundamentals right.
Omg you have to reach “under the bumper” (its not under the bumper) to press a small delicate button to open the trunk. Ohhhh the struggle its sooooo difficult
Complaints about the position of this button are stupid when there are 3 ways to open the trunk. If it's such a chor to reach down to the plate button (most people don't even know exists), THEN USE THE REMOTE OR THE BUTTON TO THE LEFT OF THE STEERING WHEEL !!!! 3 OPTIONS IS OVER KILL. NO RIGHT TO COMPLAIN !
I was anxiously awaiting this review, great job as always. Even though I've already seen this car's underbelly, it's always nice to be able to go back to this video for reference. I've ridden in this car at the track and I don't think it really needs more power (but it was a go kart track with short straightaways). The aftermarket is working on taking care of those who do want more power. P.S. Turbowski needs his own mic, just to get his levels up.
First review of yours I've seen and have to say, I'm impressed. This is what reviews should be. No where else have I seen someone hoist it up and go over the undercarriage, suspension, etc. I also like that you slammed it where it needed to be slammed....no fan boy bias here! As for the power, one theory I have is that Mazda wants to keep the aftermarket business in business. This is also another way to create a camaraderie among owners. They get together, do little tweaks, discuss parts, etc. which helps to keep the brand alive and interesting. Think of what would happen to guys like Flying Miata if the car came with 200hp from the factory. Also, for engines, outside of the US, the base model comes with a 1.5 liter 128hp engine. You have to upgrade to the "sport" version to get the 2.0 liter. I haven't driven it yet, but pretty sure I wouldn't opt for a 1.5 liter. I have a 1990 NA and 2003 NB but skipped the NC. Based on reviews so far, might be time to add a 3rd child to the family.
What's crazy is, my 2006 MX5 NC has 170 horsepower with the 5-speed. With some 17 inch wheels and 225 45 tires it handles damn well. All you need is some upgraded sway bars front and rear and a total car fluid swap to synthetics. The Mazda L engine 2.0 found in my 2006 is the engine that Mazda modified to create the skyactiv engine. The Mazda L engine technology is also carried over to the Ford EcoBoost. The Ford EcoBoost is the Mazda L design and Mazda even still makes Mazda L engines in Japan specifically for Ford vehicles. The skyactiv engine is one generation newer than the Mazda L engine.
Nice. I agree with having to go to higher HP cars before coming back makes sense. I recently went through that, and I appreciate what this car offers a lot more.
This is the first video I've watched from you guys, and, speaking honestly, it's nice to see a "no bull-shit" approach to a review (especially about the new MX-5). You talk about the things that matter and throw in a few personal gripes/likes. I like your perspective.
Gotta agree with the assessment of the rear end improvements of the ND. Having had two NBs an NC and now an ND, the handling of the ND at and beyond the limits of grip are much more confidence inspiring. It took a hundred corners or so to get used to the ND characteristics over the NC I had put over 150,000 miles on, but now that I am getting comfortable, I find I can control the rear end more precisely. The ND also feels even lighter than my NBs. I solved the super annoying "bump the switch when shifting" issue with a thicker arm rest on the console.
These videos are SO GOOD but I just wished you were based off the west coast. I go to school in Indiana so I know how flat that region is and your access to really good roads I'd imagine is limited. California, Oregon, Washington, any place with mountains, hills, and canyons that aren't shaped by glaciers. I'm sure you have your reasons for being located where you are but your channel is so good, you deserve better roads. Hell, Matt Farah gets an insane amount of views doing videos in one take solely because the roads he gets to drive the cars on are unlike what most of the country has access to.
Has to be one of the most detailed reviews I have seen for a while. Top Gear (UK) and so on are about entertainment but this really was informative. I thought it was funny that you asked the guy in the garage to add input but then talked forever instead of letting him chip in :) I can't help thinking that the Mazda aftermarket tuning guys will sort out some performance chips and suspension upgrades to make this a hotter car at some point. PS I live in the south of France so could consider it as car number 2, scruffy golf for weekdays!
Yeah man, great review, I daily a NC and the closeness of the interior is really noticable in the ND. I wouldn't be comfortable in it as a daily. But the editing and video quality is better than a lot of TV shows, great work.
Great review. I daily drive a Mazda 3 s Manual and I went to test drive a Mx5 GT today. I have to say I don't feel this car needs more power, and the engine is so responsive that when I get back to my car, everything feels so lazy and loose. Definition of fun, really.
IMHO the pairing of Mark and Jack is so...so...so much better than here with Scott.A significant improvement with the commentary from here where it really seems to just be Mark by himself when it comes to the knowledge part of the car.
I've watched like 50 Miata videos thinking about getting an ND, and this is the first one I've seen to mention that there are little ballet slipper cubbies behind the seats. That's honestly great to know lol.
I watch tons of youtube vids and reviews but I never comment. Today, I had to chime in here. wow guys. This is a terrific production and a great review of the mx5. Keep up the great work. I'll check out your other vids for sure.
Those front control arm cams both adjust camber and caster. Caster goes opposite way on front and back but camber goes the same way, so you can dial in your exact camber+caster
Another amazing review! You and Scott have definitely both grown together in video production qualities. Congratulations. It such a wonderful thing to see considering I've been a early subscriber!
It’s interesting looking at this as a retrospective. This review got me into an identical-spec 2016, and I loved it. Now with the new Recaros and updated engine, it’s amazing how many gripes were addressed. The storage is still horrific, but there are some cool gadgets out there that plug into the front cupholder mount. I’ll be in an ND2 soon enough, what a fantastic machine. And an incredible review, as well
Great review as usual...Glad to hear the negatives, because like you said, they always get glossed over in other reviews I've seen. I think I would probably get this if I was single, but having a rear seat is a must for me. It may not be much space, but I can at least fit my kid in a BRZ if I need to, which is probably what I'll get(or a WRX). Your reviews just keep getting more and more beautifully made...Thank you for putting in the time to bring us such amazing production value!
Incredible quality review! I’ve watched every review I can get my hands on of the ND Miata and no one comes close to the completeness and quality of your video and sound. Great camera work! Thank you! ( And, oh, yeah; what a great car!)
The review that convinced me to buy a 2016 nd miata in 2016. In 2 years' ownership, only fun times at very little cost (incl. maintenance and gas) and got me hooked on the benefits of a very lightweight car, as a second fun car, that can be driven at 8 or 9/10ths on the street. I chose this over a 718 Boxster and Audi TTRS, also very fun cars, due to the gear ratios and go-cart feeling mainly, and do not regret one bit. Sure, it may be a bit lacking in raw power for some or brand prestige, but not in smiles. The gear ratios are just perfect for fun on country roads, even rowing through the gears between red lights is a joy. Heel and toe at legal speeds at a roundabout, yes please. Any chance of an Alpine A110 review someday? Thank you for such informative, geeky and high quality reviews. Greetings from Switzerland.
I have one (2018 160cv Nappa Zenith), it's preaty funny to drive at low, mid and high speed. Each second in this car offer to me a lot nice feelings. If this car would have more power i think that lose control, more weight and another things, it has the perfect tuned to enjoy. I use all day and the only two things bad are the two seats and the trunk. If you does not mather with that its your car. PD: nice review!
Just a quick note: The ND *does* have caster adjustment, just like all previous Miatas. Not that it really matters, because we all adjust for maximum caster anyway... Nice review!
Its the two eccentrics for camber adjustment that also effect caster slightly. It doesnt have a dedicated caster eccentric though thats what we were looking for. I can't imagine you'd get much meaningful adjustment out of those for caster aside from maybe just getting both sides even?
+savagegeese You're mostly right. Most people go for a specific camber then try to adjust in as much caster as they can, getting both sides the same. It usually doesn't equal a lot of extra caster.
+savagegeese Look carefully at the layout of the lower L-arm. The forward adjuster is in line with the wheel, so it purely moves the lower ball joint outward for almost pure camber adjustment. The rear adjuster is almost purely caster. Move the rear of the arm outward, and the arm will pivot around the front bushing, moving the ball joint forward for more caster. You can get just over 8 degrees of caster with the adjuster maxed out.
I had a ‘96 Miata in showroom perfect condition that got totaled in a hail storm a couple years ago. Tear. I’ve been tempted recently to go pick up some fancy expensive sports car, but now I’m having Miata withdrawals. So. Much. Fun. Without prison
Great review! This car is amazing but I'm holding out for the hard top version..rumor has it that should be lined up for 2017. Love how you covered all the aspects of the car.. don't mind the length of the video because I'm learning from you about everything. Your no nonsense, straight-forward style is excellent. Thanks to Scott as well for his input.. I wish I could just talk to that guy about how I can be smarter and more knowledgable about the vehicles I purchase.. he's a wealth of knowledge. Appreciate you guys.
This video was instrumental in my decision to buy an ND-2 Miata. My wife hates this video
Well lucky you. My wife hates me for no reason.

Jesus christ the production quality on these pieces is off the charts...
+maximus9401 Definitely a lot better. Props to whoever is editing/shooting these (SG?)
Jeff Cook I said pretty much the same thing and got taken to task by another commenter: apparently he does it all himself.
i agree
I always wondered why Miatas were so expensive new.
Better than porn!!
I took my Club Edition down to the country club and ordered a clubhouse sandwich and a vodka club soda and suddenly all was right with the world.

+Khu NoPie You had all your golf clubs in the trunk too, and scored an albatross on every hole afterwards... Namaste
Can I join the club?
Three takeaways here:
So did you get it? I gave up, I could not fit in with the roof up. I had to get a different one-ton rwd japanese NA car. Suzuki Jimny! 😎
Coffee** not beer
I came back 5 years later. This is when I started following Savagegeese.
This car makes me emotional, someone in the auto industry still gets it!
*holds you and pats head*
i do, it makes me emotional too, i want it so bad.
Still is! Awesome comment.
The first 90 seconds of this video make me very emotional. My MX5 was totaled a few weeks ago. I miss it terribly.
The shots you get of the cars you review are ALMOST breathtaking! Great job
Almost?
maybe like if it wass breathtaking you would die@@FEVERNOVAA
I bought a new 2018 MX-5 GT almost two years ago, and I absolutely love it. It’s my daily driver, including through NE Ohio winters (with a separate set of wheels shod with winter tires). You hit many great points during your review. I would only add that the car’s shortcomings are far outweighed by its other qualities. If you can learn to live with such a small car, or make compromises, it’s well worth the trade offs.
I prefer a "ridiculous" place that can hide the trunk release button, that an all-over-your-face place that will ruin the design.
Thank you. You are the only reviewer that does a good undercarriage review.
Excellent! Excellent! Excellent!
I don't miss a thing in mine. Revs quicker, revs higher and the gauge seems to be connected straight to your smile.
happy with the 1.5L 130HP, bro?
Not anymore it does 2019 bb
get the new nd2 mx5 rev higher 182hp
@@patthonsirilim5739 Nah
I wish the US got the 1.5L
This may sound ridiculous, but one of the things that I love most about your reviews is the use of music. Sometimes it is extremely subtle, sometimes providing a strong statement. Love the attention to details like this.
Love it when a reviewer also go over the negatives. First time someone mentions how it would be in cold weather or 365 days a year
I've got over 17K miles on my ND now.
After 4 years what are your thoughts now on your Miata?
I never thought I'd sit through a full 34 minute car review... Great review. Thanks guys, just got my Arctic White Club this weekend!
Great color choice how do you like it?
+savagegeese LOVE it! I haven't really opened Mikasa up yet (there's a good reason for that name) because I want to get xpel ultimate on the hood and bumper before I go on the highway and get rock chips
+Alam T a bitch to keep cleaned...
+alexander1485 haha no joke. Doesn't help that it's been raining almost every day in my area since I bought her
These reviews are honestly amazing. I look forward to all of your videos...your in depth knowledge of cars with Turboskis experience as a mechanic are unbeatable. Keep doing this. You deserve (and will get) more subs in the future. Definitely worth anyones time that wants to learn more about cars
He did!
Your videos deserve more views. A quality film in a cesspit of low effort content that is youtube.
Love how you indexed your video with the different segments and times!
I can't express how much i love your reviews
I'm gonna be getting a manual Grand Touring model of this car as a daily driver in a few weeks. :)
I pack super-light anyway.
Totally agree since you are in the climate for it, Id likely do the same.
Did you get it????
A couples mod I did to my S2000 that makes it more useful for 2020.
- Rear auto dim mirrors with Homelink. I don't get blinded by cars behind me anymore.
- Start engine without depressing clutch
- Open/Close convertible top without being stationary. Pull the hand brake one click to activate.
- Hardwire a GPS (Speed/School zone warning), USB ports for phones, dash cams (behind rear mirror), foot-well lights. They are all hidden away behind "glove box" space.
- Modifry's DCI control and GPS mounts
I put mine on sale few times but never really want to sell it. I recently drove it with winter tires and it's still amazing.
Watched this numerous times and decided it's still Marc's finest review intro on his channel.
Thanks to this video I decided to get an nd2 rf miata, my fiancé and I love it.
It's our daily driver and grocery getter, this little car car has become part of our family.
The 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL was the first production sports car to use direct injection. The Bosch fuel injectors were placed into the bores on the cylinder wall
used by the spark plugs in other Mercedes-Benz six-cylinder engines (the spark plugs were relocated to the cylinder head). You would think direct injection wouldn't be a problem in 2016.
it's not the direct injection, it's the exhaust gas recirculation! old cars didn't had to reburn the exhaust gases. port injection cleans the valves when it is sprayed. direct injection is sprayed into the cylinder.
This video singlehandedly convinced me to buy an ND, and I love it for that
Haven't seen a better review of the Miata, a review which actually takes up the shortcomings of the car, but I one ordered anyway as a secondary car for my wife. This will be a perfect fun car for my wife eventhough we are living in cold climate (Sweden)... It will get delivered next week, can't watt!
not watt, it should be wait! Hate the spelling tool !
Terry C - how does it do if it was your only car? Considering I live in the Midwest.
Kudos to you. I would think it could be a whole different kind of fun in the snow with winter tires.
Wow, so much better than any TV show. Thank you so much for making these!!! The quality in all aspects is 100%.
Great video. Honest review of the car, ridiculously in-depth, well filmed, high production value. Definitely earned a subscriber
Amazing work guys! I bought a '16 MX5 in ceramic metallic a couple weeks back and it just amazes me everytime I get in it and go.
Me too!
I have a daily driver 2007 touring edition. Not looking to buy this new version anytime soon but it is so great to see that Mazda still cares about the driver and the fun you can have with a car. Maybe in 8-10 years I’ll pick one of these up. Another nice review by SG.
Just bought one (Club model, Ceramic White) and agree-- you always feel like you're going fast. It's a great driver's car!
Good color choice. Should always been a joy to drive.
I have been watching TH-cam car reviews for years, these are the best by far!!!
Your cinematography gets me every time. Right in the feels.
I got one, a Sport, white, 52,000 miles now, a year round driver in New Hampshire.I am 3ducs with a different account.
Man....sick angles on the vids! Appreciate the hard work!
Best vehicle review channel on TH-cam, imo.
Amazing review, best 2016 Miata review on TH-cam!
@@WizardTerence Haha my first gen MX-5 only allows the key in the back to open. No opener inside the cockpit. 3 ways is more than enough haha.
SavageGeese You are such a joy to listen to when it goes to autos. You are the Man!! Thanks for great Substance.
Thanks! Cant wait to get it on track to see. Next video will have Turbos Mic issues resolved sorry about that.
+savagegeese Good, that's the only letdown about your reviews. Keep up the good work !
This channel has come a very long way in 5 years👍👍
It's fun to see you and Turbowski genuinely enthusiastic about a car for a change. To the auto industry: Was that so hard?
I like your perspective.
really amazing work guys. Keep it up. Love the opening shots
Turbowski had a lot to say about this one compared to all the other reviews... great review btw.
Front caster is adjustable. The two cam bolts on the bottom of the front lower control arms are for camber and caster adjustment.
Does turbowski put on an act to portray a type of personality for the videos, or is he always like that? He never seems serious about anything lol.
I like these reviews but fail to see what he evens adds to the discussions. He isn't funny so it certainly isn't "comic relief".
Sirgromulus I think they're just old friends or something
He's there for the subtle gay jokes
that fool is hilarious hes one of the reasons i watch these reviews
he seems to be the normal guy👀
A note on that trunk release, I have it for a year now, and it's not a hassle and I just got used to it
Best car show on youtube. Amazing work.
Glad you're telling it like it is. Pretty honest and objective. Most of the other reviews blow so much smoke. Nice job +savagegeese
I’m absolutely in love with my ND1 club. What a car!
Lets trade our 3s in for mx5! I agree with you mostly. Just dont get into a mustang GT, RCF or GT350 like we did after MX5.
IMHO the pairing of Mark and Jack is so...so...so much better than here with Scott.A significant improvement with the commentary from here where it really seems to just be Mark by himself when it comes to the knowledge part of the car.
Best review I've ever watched on TH-cam period. Objective look at the car. Very impresses
I've watched like 50 Miata videos thinking about getting an ND, and this is the first one I've seen to mention that there are little ballet slipper cubbies behind the seats. That's honestly great to know lol.
I love my ND1 as a daily driver in Wisconsin. The cockpit heats up so fast in winter!
The production value on this is very impressive.
Another amazing review! You and Scott have definitely both grown together in video production qualities. Congratulations. It such a wonderful thing to see considering I've been a early subscriber!
Good review from guys living in the heartland of America, from the state of Lincoln.
Your reviews are the best, great quality production and compelling content!
I’ve watched this 4 times , you are brilliant. I’m going to buy one when I can . Thank you .
Where is it located?
+savagegeese the two adjusters affect both camber and caster. Look up Miata caster adjustment on Google. Been this way since the first miatas.
+savagegeese
Look carefully at the layout of the lower L-arm.
I love the way this guy talks.
