We've had projects we were excited to tackle, only to realize too late that we bit off more than we could chew. I don't see that as a character flaw; if anything, it's truth in television.
I have sorely missed the comedy you put forth Silver Quill, and having you back in action in this format just made my birthday all that more epic. So from the bottom of my heart, Thank you!
Oh man it's great to see a new episode review! I laughed out loud several times. Nicely, NICELY done! My only issue with the map episodes is that a number of them tend to be a bit lopsided, making one of our two leads out to have more answers or be more correct than the other. While that's not an automatic deal-breaker or anything, it does have some of the flaws you've criticized certain issues of the 'Friends Forever' comic line as having. That said, I would like to see more of these map episodes and enjoyed all of them, to one extent or another. It's a great formula to pair up members of the Mane Six who don't normally share a lot of screen time with each other. I think either Top Bolt or Lost Treasure of Griffonstone would be my favorite.

9:25 Silver, the streets in Manehattan are like streets were before the popularization of cars - public spaces where all civilians walked. They even had sidewalks. There were taxis and trams that ran on them, but nobody was ever hit because it was such a fluid system. (Just rewatch Newsies! They did so much on the streets, it's crazy by modern standards. Manehattan is all but based off a Newsies-esque New York.) Seeing as Equestria has few cars outside taxis, it makes sense that the roads in Manehattan are equally public spaces. I mean, ponies are basically all you see walking on them anyway. Having a play out in the open like that is, historically speaking, super feasible.
The weakness of the map setup you mentioned works as a strength for me, because it puts me and the characters in the same position of wondering where the problem is and how to solve it. The story has an easier time engaging me that way.
I'm glad you finally got another Season 5 After the Fact done with Made in Manehattan, Silver Quill. Also, didn't expect you to nail two more face-palms from the remaining members of the Mane Six that you've not done yet in one After the Fact. With only Fluttershy left, and 10 more episodes of Season 5 left to review, 9 since the finale is two parts, I am interested in which upcoming After the Fact you get her to face-palm to finish the Mane Six off, then what happens after that as you finish up Season 5 and move onto Season 6. I really hope you can finish Season 5 and get started on Season 6 before Season 7 starts this coming Spring, or you're really going to be behind with these videos.

I feel Coco's stress shows how she hasn't completely become her own pony. Her past has weight over her and while she's actively trying to overcome it by being more proactive, her past with Surry has affected her. I wish she could find a way to use that fear and anxiety, but it will take time, especially since she's not a main character in the show in its entirety.
I have a theory that the castle is alive and if Twilight has the slightest thought of going somewhere the map hasn't told her to go, it'd threaten to kill her. But that's just my sick little fantasy. LOL

Honestly i think its implied that nothing short of hte Tree of Harmony itself is behind these map quests. The tree itself is stuck in the forest, mostly keeping the eldritch mirkwood from causing trouble. So it is using the castle as a means to communicate, direct, and likely at times empower the mane six. and yeah, that is their point. to come in and, by helping individuals, help the community as a whole. one action impacting many at once.......... the only apparent deviation was the recent episode with vapor trail and such. the impact seems to have been isolated to just those two. maybe their fellow cadets. then agian, these are the wonder bolts we are talking about. both entertainers and a branch of the military. together those two are strong after all. especially vapor trail. also its kinda my theory that the hwole sign into the face was the tree of harmony using a bit of its magic to get em on the right track.
I had a thought some months ago: Ponies are chosen based on their elements: Griffonstone: Loyalty and Laughter. Manehatten: Generosity and Honesty. Giant Breasts of Earth: Friendship and Kindness. Canterlot: Generosity and Laughter. Las Pegasus: Honesty and Kindness. Wonderbolts HQ: Loyalty and Friendship. Why they were chosen specifically makes a bit more sense if one considers their elements. Even though Griffonstone could've benefited more from the Embodiment of Kindness, The Bionis and Mechonis from the Embodiment of Honesty, et cetera, I'd imagine the effects of the elements that were present would probably cascade into the other elements automatically. Griffonstone will discover Laughter by itself, Generic Castle Defence Level will discover Honesty by itself, et cetera.

Something about 'the map' has intrigued me a lot since I'd done some thinking about it, and more specifically, what it means in relation to cutie marks. Cutie marks, as I'm sure most of us know, are basically "symbols of destiny" bestowed by some... something. No matter what the symbol is or who it belongs to, it eventually proves true and represents something a person *_will_* do/become some day. The map, however, seems somehow even 'larger', somehow being able to tell *_how_* a cutie marks represent a person and just about every single minute detail about how to get them to change for (for lack of the proper term) "the greater good". There are even times where some of the Mane 6 completing the map's task seemingly (again, for lack of the proper term) "ruin" a person's life in the process (like in Viva Las Pegasus), which almost seems to me like *_destiny itself_* gives people cutie marks that basically makes them "necessary evils"... leaving me to ask things like "Why?" and "Is the map somehow larger than destiny itself?". Food for thought, I suppose.
I...had no idea that people enjoyed that short Rarity song quite this much. Tis fun to see it on display again though. :)

Honestly i think its implied that nothing short of hte Tree of Harmony itself is behind these map quests. The tree itself is stuck in the forest, mostly keeping the eldritch mirkwood from causing trouble. So it is using the castle as a means to communicate, direct, and likely at times empower the mane six.
and yeah, that is their point. to come in and, by helping individuals, help the community as a whole. one action impacting many at once..........
the only apparent deviation was the recent episode with vapor trail and such. the impact seems to have been isolated to just those two. maybe their fellow cadets.
then agian, these are the wonder bolts we are talking about. both entertainers and a branch of the military. together those two are strong after all. especially vapor trail.
also its kinda my theory that the hwole sign into the face was the tree of harmony using a bit of its magic to get em on the right track.
I had a thought some months ago: Ponies are chosen based on their elements:
Griffonstone: Loyalty and Laughter.
Manehatten: Generosity and Honesty.
Giant Breasts of Earth: Friendship and Kindness.
Canterlot: Generosity and Laughter.
Las Pegasus: Honesty and Kindness.
Wonderbolts HQ: Loyalty and Friendship.
Why they were chosen specifically makes a bit more sense if one considers their elements. Even though Griffonstone could've benefited more from the Embodiment of Kindness, The Bionis and Mechonis from the Embodiment of Honesty, et cetera, I'd imagine the effects of the elements that were present would probably cascade into the other elements automatically. Griffonstone will discover Laughter by itself, Generic Castle Defence Level will discover Honesty by itself, et cetera.

I just realized there's a reference to the Newsies musical in this episode...
Something about 'the map' has intrigued me a lot since I'd done some thinking about it, and more specifically, what it means in relation to cutie marks. Cutie marks, as I'm sure most of us know, are basically "symbols of destiny" bestowed by some... something. No matter what the symbol is or who it belongs to, it eventually proves true and represents something a person *_will_* do/become some day. The map, however, seems somehow even 'larger', somehow being able to tell *_how_* a cutie marks represent a person and just about every single minute detail about how to get them to change for (for lack of the proper term) "the greater good". There are even times where some of the Mane 6 completing the map's task seemingly (again, for lack of the proper term) "ruin" a person's life in the process (like in Viva Las Pegasus), which almost seems to me like *_destiny itself_* gives people cutie marks that basically makes them "necessary evils"... leaving me to ask things like "Why?" and "Is the map somehow larger than destiny itself?". Food for thought, I suppose.
