A tenor can sing even higher than an alto after all. Big Mac was singing in falsetto in this episode. Not alto.

Seeing Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo interact as sisters was a real treat. And it's about dang time; it's only been two whole seasons. The closest they came was the heart to heart on 'Flight to the Finish'.
I've known a couple transgendered people who find cross dressing humor offensive, and I know a few more who enjoy it, acknowledging the humor in undoing gender expectations. Ms. Doubtfire, Tootsie, Rocky Horror, hell, even Mulan! But I'm in no way saying people are wrong for being offended, a person's pain is real, and shouldn't be mocked.
That being said, I definitely disagree with this episode being offensive, and argue it's trans-positive. Everyone sees through the disguise, and says nothing. And of all the trans people I've met, their greatest day is the one where nobody comments on their gender! No questions, no chuckles, not even positive affirmations. They just want to be treated normally. So, for nopony to call out the very obviously stallion for trying to pass as a woman, and allowing "her" to compete, is pretty damn awesome.

How are trans people are "biological defects of nature" exactly? They ARE normal people, they just identify as another gender. And dont be like "Well, if they're born as a boy, they are a boy! If your born as a girl, your a girl!!1!!1!" Because they are just normal people, born in the wrong body. Not that hard to understand. And even if you disagree for some reason, their choices dont affect you in anyway whats so ever, so please stop being so ignorant, and respect their choices

Not trans gender but I am easily offended 😂 I loved this episode. I thought it was hilarious. However I think this wasn't so much Transgender but Drag. Most Drag Artists are cis males with the exception of faux queens and actual trans people like Peppermint. He even had a stage name and performed. I thought it was really funny, and as a huge fan of drag queens, I just was cracking up the entire time
Sorry but I have to disagree with you there, pain is and should be mocked and made fun of.
Pain makes use grow and without adversity life itself wouldn't be as enjoyable, well there is a limit on an individual basis one must also understand that no one has the right to enforce an objective standard on what can be made fun of and it doesn't matter what their standing or relation to the matter at the hand of mockery is.
Everyone has mocked someone or something and to steal the term, you live by the sword you die by the sword and that is the spice of life that too many is what makes life worth living.
That being said I am not without sympathy or reason please if you or anyone else reading this has a point or an idea to share please do i would love to hear from those that disagree with me or agree.

Great joke and I loved Eliyora taking a dig at the people who thought this episode was a transgender offence. Mac was only cross dressing to spend time with this sister, not every piece of media is suppose to represent someone's personal taste.

David Pescitelli Somewhat true, though it's arguably a Fluttershy episode. This is more of a Big Mac centric episode.
Not really we follow Discord throughout the whole episode. Fluttershy is even gone from parts of the episode.
Arguably, Party of three was that before.
Discord was in more of the episode than Twilight after all, There was even a scene with just discord after the rest of them left for reason of "Loyalty", Distraction, or Sickness.

Tbh, this is one of my personal fave episodes! It’s so rare that you see a guy who likes cute, pretty, or “girly” things, and isn’t afraid of what people would think. (Wander from Wander Over Yonder is another)
As a guy who likes traditionally “girly” things myself, it makes me really happy to see someone on tv that reminds me of me in a way... Plus, he absolutely loves his little sisters, and that’s really beautiful~~
Personally, as a trans man, I loved this episode! I didn't think they were poking fun at trans people; I saw it more as another way for Big Mac to embrace feminine things without shame (none of the "it's too girly" stuff; playing with dolls and Princess Big Mac, anyone?) Plus, Orchard Blossom isn't a joke in and of "herself", she's a genuine attempt at Big Mac trying to bond with his sister. And Apple Bloom doesn't think any less of Big Mac for being Orchard Blossom; in fact, she encourages him to do it again as an in-joke between them at the end. So all in all, I don't see the harm in Orchard Blossom. I rather like this episode!

I also like that at the end he is admonished for his destructiveness and lack of sportsmanship. They even specify that the entire gender thing was completely unrelated to that. At the same time I'm also somewhat glad that they didn't back out either; Big Mac broke all rules and was punished accordingly.
Mark Maker can I ask some clarification? When people say “I’m a trans man/woman” are they saying they now identify as that gender or that they used to be. I’m confused and I really don’t want to make anyone feel bad. ;-;
To the people wondering, transman/boy means he sees himself as male.
A trans woman/girl would see herself as female.
If I’m doubt, look at the word at the end of “trans”, that’ll be what you call them.

I loved this episode. It really showed how he felt proud of AppleJack yet over showered by her accomplishments.
Though props to the writers to not give in to the temptation of apple bloom breaking the toy. She came very close, but you resisted. Good job!

Really? I was more distracted by the sheer difference in mic quality. Silver is pitch perfect, while his partner sounds like she stuffed her mouth with marshmallows and went to record. She did fine, but it WAS a tidge distracting.
In a reversal kind of way. I feel for Eli. I used to look up to my big bro, but as time went on. He pushed me away and treats me like I'm not worth his time anymore. It's a heartbreaking feeling to know those you care for no longer care for you.
This is why we love Big Mac. Under his quiet exterior, he's got a big heart.
This is one of my favorite episodes in the whole series. I did legitimately get choked up during Big Mac's closing scene. I was the middle of three brothers, my older and younger brothers having a lot more in common with each other than either did me. I felt exactly like Big Mac and this episode really resonated with me.
That opening.... by the princesses that opening! As I sit here typing my comment, I struggle to breathe. Why you may ask? Because I have never laughed so hard at a video opening in my life! Thank you Silver! You just made my horrible week so much better with this opening!

Well done everyone and ask for the gender politics an MLP allowed me to elaborate on my part on that as a horse woman and trainer
It's not uncommon for the mares to be the dominant I'm on the herds really when people think of lead stallions being the hot machos of a herds in the wild or dominant areas really the mares take all the control and take all the shots in the wild. So really the show made it absolutely accurate in the terms of how the horses behave in the gender roles of their species.
A lot of animals in the wild, and also dogs, tend to have the female as the most dominant. So it's not just restricted to horses. ^^
Same with lionesses, they do most of the work and seem to be dominat in a pride
Female hyenas are much stronger than the male and female lemurs are dominant too.
@@mirandakay6504 While male hyenas, especially adult ones, pretty much struggle to even be allowed scraps as food, right?

I believe the final scene with Big Mac's speech is one of the best moment of the whole show

My older sister and I share a similar struggle. We used to be extremely close, but we're drifting apart because we have different views, opinions, and tastes in almost everything. My mom, who was the youngest of two brothers who never give her or us the time of day, always is trying to stress the importance of our relationship, yet we struggle to tell eachother when we really need somebody there to lean on even though the other is always willing to be there. I'm struggling myself with coming out as bi, and I know my sister would be supportive, but my fear of disappointing her is what's holding me back because, despite all our flaws, I still look up to her.
Every single time Silver Quill gets hurt! And I love it!
It's been so long since we heard Big Mac say more than just a few words. So in the last few minutes of the episode my jaw literally dropped when I saw and heard him speak his mind about his feelings! So overall the episode was definitely one worth watching!! 👍🏻😊

I really love this channel so much for its reviews and quality. I don't mind waiting weeks or months for a video since I know he'll go beyond with it. I watch other reviewers like him that do post videos none stop, but there are so few who does it with great detail. Overall it's worth the wait and other reviewer are not so bad once you give them a try.

Poor Silver Quill. Even when he isn't to blame for anything to incite the wrath of the Mane Cast, he still gets beat up by them when they run him over going after Eliyora.
Still, glad to see another Season 5 After the Fact episode out of the way with how many Silver Quill still needs to do to catch up to Season 7 right now.

I'm honestly surprised that Rainbow accepted winning by default; given her competitive nature and all. Speaking of, some say it is because of her competitive nature she ate the pie in the pie eating contest; but it is my narrative she did it for Scootaloo.
A part of me is glad Big Mac gets an episode, but another part of me wished for a brotherhood social with Thunderlane and Rumble, and other ponies with brothers. They have a good opportunity and they missed it.

Why have none of the reviewers pointed out that Orchard Blossom was likely a reference to Myrtle Urkle from Family matters? I mean come on: Southern, looks/sounds prim-and-proper but is actually really uncouth and kind of obnoxious, really a dude in drag. No one has mentioned that, am I seriously the only one who noticed?
Family matters is iffy. Lot of people would rather forget that.

This is the best episode of the series, I stand by it.
I like the new Eliyora sooooo much better than the one from the previous review they both did! The "sorry" at the beginning went beyond any of my expectations. Good job! Also having a touch of insanity is quite a fun character trait, like the actual TF2 pyro.
As for female dominance in MLP: They can treat the stallions as slaves for all I care, because that just means more waifus for me. ;-p Apropos: Imagine what would happen if any male reviewer dared to tie up a mare and abduct her. Oooooh, the horror!!! XD

Watching this and hearing Eli's recount of what it feels like to see your bond with your little sibling reminded me of when I first saw the episode. I'm the youngest in my family with an older sister and eldest brother. My sister doesn't watch MLP, but my brother and I do. As a kid, I idolized both my siblings, but as I grew older, I began to share more interests with my sister. It wasn't until my brother introduced me to MLP that I started to rebond with him.
Hearing Big Mac's speech at the end about how he wanted to bond with Apple Bloom and be her hero again immediately made me think of my brother and I, and as soon as I finished the episode, I went to talk with him. He admitted to sometimes feeling the same way, and then we talked about the episode for good half hour.
I need a hour version of the the stampede trampling silver!

Though on to my opinion of the episode, it took me a couple of rewatches to fully appreciate the lengths Big Mac would go to make his loved ones happy even if they didn't ask for it. Which is a VERY endearing trait for me since my dad also has it, and it lead to some great memories. ^^

Oh my gosh! Yes, I've been waiting for this! So happy to see you do a After the Fact video, so great! I've missed these so much. While there was a bit of cringe with this episode, it was pretty funny in certain places, plus Big Mac's speech towards Apple Bloom was so sweet that I just went awe.
