Nice Video....and Great Info! Also, thanks for showing the costs that you mentioned in US Dollars. That was a nice touch, and I wish that others would do the same!!
I am traveling in Thailand right now and finding it quite expensive. My average cost for a meal is between 150 and 250 baht, so that adds up. Long term I have not seen anywhere I would want to live for under 15,000-I need at least 40 sq meters and preferably 50 plus. I am not sure that I could cover my rental costs in Hua Hin from renting out my three bedroom townhouse in Arkansas after paying agent fees and tax. And one really needs a car and health insurance. Some people survive without the latter, but the time will come when they need medical care. Much as I would like to put down roots in Thailand, the financial side does not seem to work for me.
@@HairyPixels I think that I could probably get $1200 if I rented all three rooms, but I have a collection of books and art that I would have to store in the third bedroom. I could probably get $1000 for the two bedrooms and two bathrooms, but I would have to use an agent who would take a 40% cut. My insurance would go up and there would be increased cost of repairs. Of course it would also be subject to income tax, so I would not end up with much more than $$500, perhaps $600 per month. Add to that the cost of health insurance (or self insurance since I have diabetes and a heart condition), and it really does not make sense for me to relocate to Thailand on a permanent basis. I love my twice annual visits, but any longer is two risky. Just got back from Ban Krut and Ai Manao, which are both wonderful.
@@malin5468damn 40%? I thought it was more like 10% for property management. I rent 2 l little 30sqm houses in Chiang Mai for 8k/month so you can get cheaper but I've never been to Hua Hin so I don't know what goes on there with rent.

Lots of information in this video. Great video! Wordering with a budget of USD250~, is it possible to rent a small detached house (or any living space that are detached) in Hua Hin ideally with a small yard in an area that don't have a big crowd but convenient location for publuc transportation, shopping (for grocery and everyday necessities), easy to get around? Can one get around by riding a bike (bicycle) and is it safe to do so? And what are the differences between Thai style house and western style house? What websites ( or any other sources) are good, reliable sources to find rental listings and rental agencies? I'm thinking about retiring in Thailand, and Hua Hin sounds like a good choice ( but i'm open to all locations). I'm single, no family, and a minimalist so I don't need a big living space. I'm a bit of a health nuts so like to cook my own meal and (whenever I can) have grocery deliver to me. Do you think all these are achievable in Hua Hin (or other Thai cities)? Are cellphones and tablets expensive in Thailand? Thank you. 😊
I’ll try and cover some of this in upcoming videos so many questions from everyone sorry hopefully I can just cover the answers in a few videos so everyone can see🇹🇭👍
My experience: come with all money and income, forget to make income in Thailand unless you have very solid connections (which pretty sure you don't, since are asking on a Tube)
In the clothes market in Udon Thani under the counter whisky is 100 baht but you can but Laos single malt whisky for 300 bahtt. Same ols ladies also sell Viagra!!!
Great info you can stay in sangso Bangkok in a condo for about 150 US dollars per month 35 square meters you can catch a train to hua hin for 40 thai baht not air con and catch a MRT to mochit then to Asoke in 20 minutes it’s all about location victory monument is a nice place to stay and it’s about 6000 per month for an apartment but a condo will be about 12 000 16 000 markets noodles on the river cheap great food and easy to get to Asoke but sometimes your better off not being to far away 20 minutes and not any tourist 😂
Good question Jamie he doesn't want to tell you because it's not cheap just a guess but in the ball park of 80k Thai baht a month should have been very simple answer
So I never would have considered going to Thailand but if I could go for a 1000 a month Canadian I’d do it for the experience. But I guess there’s the flight as well. Food for thought. PS the cheapest flight from Canada is 1500, to bad if it was say 200 250 I would consider it but 1500 is too expensive. 😢 TRAVEL SHOULD BE AFFORDABLE
My water bill in uk £54 per month 😂 a joke I am waiting for my daughters to go to college then university I see water melons 🍉 now a whole one 35 thai baht but here £9 and more crazy prices
Our UK House (3 bedroom) is about £50 for water, £178 for gas and electric, £165 council tax we also have a land charge because it is a private estate £25 per month Full fibre BB £40. Our Thai house is about £4 for water £55 for electric (3 AC units) Gas for cooking is next to nothing £20 full fibre BB. I know where I prefer to spend my pension.

Thanks mate appreciate that👍

@philliproberts7294 Thanks Phill. I was disappointed he couldn't answer my simple question.
@philliproberts7294 My wife and son plan on relocating to Bangkok for university. Hopefully someone can advise me on cost.

Flights are a lot more now with the rising cost of fuel. It’s something else to consider too👍
1. Put summary on screen as you go and at end for different options
2. Use top 4 currencies, I’m sick of converting dollars 😂
No central a/c????
No mate just separate units.
