I hear they have a law now that all money that comes in is taxed if you stay 180 days or more, even your foreign pension. Some dismiss it, but it is the law and you do evade taxation if you do not declare which is a serious offence in most countries.

Yeah, but it's making sure you have that £20,000 as a buffer too because it's always supposed to be that amount, at least when they audit you. That makes sense anyway, because if you leave or other commitments pop up, it's there.

You need a proper hat mate. You’ll get cancer in the ear like I just got. I live in far North Queensland which is almost as hot as Thailand. I’m in Jomtien now to have a look after seeing Phuket and Huahin last time. Even though it’s’ summer here now it’s not as bad as I thought it might be. About the same as Tully where I live.

Food costs "exceptionally low" ... lol , lol - yea, for only Thai food .. but, just walk into Villa Foods ( up the road from the hospital going towards Cha Am ) that will generally provide you a "guage" of the cost of farang food sold in every "farang" friendly grocery market ... even Makro ( the only items I buy in there are blueberries and yogurt ) .... the costs of farang groceries will certainly open your eyes and wallet! For fresh fruit and veggies ( limited selections at times ) you are better off going to the outdoor markets ( day or night ) ... way to much traffic in Hua Hin ( super hard to find a place to park ) ...
