  • Hi
    Feeling childish!
    How to make a motorbike backfire.
    1. Ride along
    2. Hit the kill switch
    3. Twisty twisty the throttle
    4. Kill switch back on
    5.BOOM!!
    Do not do this on a corner!
    I take no reasonability for you doing this! Im just showing you how it works! _____

    For those who don't know; How it works in a nutshell.
    Roll along at speed, fuel is ignited by spark as normal.
    Kill engine with switch, spark dies but fuel keeps entering cylinder(s)
    Turn switch back on, spark ignites extra fuel, causing a backfire and sometimes flame.

    For the most part yes, however it is possible with injected engines, but the engine has to be pretty run down. The 'backfire' of an injected engine is usually more of a cough and splutter as the revs are coming down, I get this a lot on my V-Twin 750 Aprilia. A satisfying sound!

    someone in the comments said it depletes the life of the kill switch... thats wrong. at the MSF course they teach people to use the kills witch just to turn the bike off so its pressed like 100 times a day and those bikes have tens of thousands of miles on them. its good to use the kill switch every once in a while to prevent corrosion and make sure it still works incase you need it

    Here's the general rule of thumb with 2t's.
    If it broke, you weren't riding it hard enough!
    If you hurt it, you STILL weren't riding hard enough!
    If you're winning, you're almost riding hard enough.
    If you hurt yourself, you're riding hard enough.
    Joking aside backfiring is like farting while you're pooping, it's just a funny and loud surprise. Also, I wouldn't worry too much about hurting a 2t. They were meant to be ran hard and are insanely cheap to fix.

    By the looks in the comments, most people don't know that the kill switch is directly connected to the key ignition. The only difference is that the kill switch just stops ignition the gasses in the cylinder, while the key ignition shuts off all electronics on the bike. Also the myth that using the kill switch is bad for your bike, is actually just a myth...
    It should work with every bike that has a switch for either breaking the circuit or just breaking the ignition circuit. If you do it right, you should be able to do it with a 50cc moped.

    All your doing is turning the spark off and the unburnt fuel goes in to the exhaust...

  • @hohohohehehe6910
    @hohohohehehe6910 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is actually called afterfire and not back fire. Backfire is bad for your bike and potentially dangerous.
    What was explained in this video cannot damage your bike. Afterfire is when unburnt fuel enters the exhaust pipe and sometimes occurs in cold temperatures, like winter.

    • @spicy110
      @spicy110  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not going to fully agree there, if you do this a lot the pressure can damage the valves. "key banging" as this is also called creates much higher pressure than say a over run pop. also if you have bad rust on your exhaust pipe or can, it can blow holes.

    • @spicy110
      @spicy110  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you pulled the clutch in it won't work. What hitting the kill switch dose is pump unburnt fuel in to the exhaust and starting the bike by hitting the switch back on while still moving ignites this unburnt fuel. That's why this only works on bike with a carb.

    • @enduro19
      @enduro19 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know it pumps unburnt fuel into the exhaust, but from my quad riding experiences if the quad catches traction while pushing it and turning it into gear it starts the engine, and the point is, where I ride you can't get alot of traction like the roads. So hitting the killswitch back I figured would do nothing, but the rear tire would lock up, and slip, if it get's traction, start the engine. But I guess I'm wrong, somehow hitting the killswitch back ignites the engine. Interesting.

    does this work on all motorcykles?
    so u just drive along, turn of the bike with the kill switch, blip the throttle a couple of times, and when rolling turn on the killswitch again and bang?
    have i got it right?

  • @kimmie9059
    @kimmie9059 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    This works for carb bike only I think. Because a fuel injection bike has to prime after you turn the switch back on.
    Also, I've been told this puts holes in the piston if you do it too often? is that true?

      +Kimberley Hughes No, the only stress it puts is on the muffler.

  • @LifeOnTwoWheels
    @LifeOnTwoWheels 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    does not work on fuel injected bikes

    When you switch it off, do you switch it back on and then pull the throttle. Or do you switch it back on whilst pulling the throttle or after?

    • @JDMz
      @JDMz 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just switch it on. Rpm has to be high though. But don't over do it. Its expensive engine rebuild once you blow the motor

  • @TheCodFatherPro

    he'd have to kickstart it to get going again

    Just out of curiosity, does this also work with quad bikes? Like can I be rolling at speed, hit the engine run button off, blip the throttle, turn the engine back on and BOOM? Or is it safer to just rev it in neutral until it pops because that works too...?

    • @spicy110
      @spicy110  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's best not to tbh, however this will work on any engine that uses a Carburettor. This will not work on fuel injected engines. The meteoth is as described in the video. Your risk do not advise haha but can be funny

    Dose it work with doing it with a key if you don't have a kill switch

  • @Gohomehuntingban
    @Gohomehuntingban 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    you dont need one, i used to make my c90 backfire by rev high in second or third, as the engine slows down after you drop the throttle, turn ur key off and on a couple times. Just not on a corner.. lol

    • @JDMz
      @JDMz 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats down to incorrect valve clearances lol

  • @sebaster14

    You can just keep it in gear and than do the killswitch right? Or do you first have to put it in neutral?

    • @JDMz
      @JDMz 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      In gear. But don't do it to often. Expensive engine rebuild

  • @iansnarski1410
    @iansnarski1410 ปีที่แล้ว

    So you just kill it and turn it back on fast?

  • @Joseprsousa
    @Joseprsousa 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I didn't get it, for ex: I'm riding around passing gears, then i throttle up to raise the revs , then i turn off and emiatly on the kill switch while throttle on the same time?

    • @JDMz
      @JDMz 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Top tip. Dont do it. Expensive engine rebuild
