Democracy doesn't work in third world countries like Pak. We were better off with Dictators. Ayub Khan built all the dams and industry. PIA (which is bankrupt now) was used even by the President of the US because of its popularity for its amazing service and exotic tradition gourmet meals under him!

This “field marshal” (who only had 2.5 days of actual combat experience) became military dictator of Pakistan & lay his country at the feet of US/UK by signing SEATO , CENTO treaties - thereby becoming an American pawn in Central Asia - against the Soviets. Hats how Pakistan got billions of dollars in 1960s. All this shobiz & paraphernalia at display in his visits to USA in 1961 & to 1966 in London are testimony to that.

Pakistan during the 60s and early 70s helped many other newly created nations in their road to growth and development. Students from upper classes of Brunei, Malaysia, and Middle East used to come to Pakistan for acquiring professional skills. Pakistan had the highest number of university graduates for almost a decade, in all of South and South-East Asia. PIA was the fastest growing airline in late 50s and early 60s and it helped built up Malaysian Airlines & Jordanian Airlines through training.

Despite all the hardships that Pakistan faced in its early years. it only took it a decade and a half to register double digit growth and become one of the most positive, steadfast and hardworking nations in all of Muslim world.

Little is achieved by harking back to the past, however glorious the film footage images, other than learning lessons from it. It never ceases to amaze me that the political leaders of historical eminence in the sub continent couldn't see further than their noses of the consequences of their actions.

If you look at this video, its a clear sign that President Kennedy knew how to greet his counterpart President Ayub Khan of Pakistan at that airport. Look at the streets of USA with people cheering on. Yet the same USA now shows 2 fingers to Pakistan. Pakistan has not changed, yet USA has changed for the worse. What a disgraceful country has become since the death of President Kennedy

People mindset will change with countries relations. At that time us and pakistan had good relations and was giving aid to pakistan as us wanted to use pakistan against soviet which it did so the people reactions were positive while now America and pakistan didn't have great relations so is the public relations like this.

Not really cuz Pakistan hasn’t seen & experienced any genuine Democracy yet…..all this time Pakistan was either directly under dictatorship of in directly under a sham of these stooges of last 50 years Like Bhutto & Sharif Thus now the struggle is on by 80% of Pakistanis & the man made it realized the nation is in, unlawful, immoral, political detention..

    1. Quid e Azam

    3. Gn Musharraf (if was elected as prime minister by democracy would have made pakistan super power)
    4. Imran Khan

Muslims and Islam were always oppressive and tribal. They could not sustain democracy and modernism. This phase was when US needed Pak to combat China , when that was done pak wad thrown out and it could not sustain itself as it's allergic to modernism
