    I keep a Jinhao X450 at work as my everyday pen. Mine, for some reason, writes like a broad. So smooth and with good ink flow. I use cartridges at work as it's less messy. The Jinhao needs a little encouragement to start first thing in the morning (a bit like me). However, once it starts, it writes beautifully all day long. I am so pleased with it.

      I have more than 20 Jinhao pens- only two of them give such 'starting' trouble. Then I dip the nib in a drop of water held in the palm or on the table and hold it for a few seconds, and it starts writing! You may like to try this!

      Which cartridges you use for the x450 plz?

      @@sc00zy The Jinhao x450 will take any standard international cartridges. It also comes supplied with a standard international converter for bottled ink. I just use inexpensive cartridges from eBay for my work. Usually either black or blue ink.

    This blue Jinhao x450 was my first fountain pen, and still one of my best.. Gorgeous, all metal(the grip section is actually metal not plastic), writes beautifully even with the stock nib, very comfortable to hold thanks to its weight and the grip section. and costs a whopping $5... you cannot go wrong with these things if you are just getting into the hobby. And it comes in an absurd amount of colours to choose from.

    I LOVE my Jinhao pens! I currently have 10 of these pens in different colors as well as corresponding inks to match the pens. I have the 159, several x450s and several x750s. It's fun to have a selection when I'm in the mood for a different color pen and ink. The prices for these pens can't be beat. They have a very satisfying feel in the hand and mine glide across the paper smoothly and I love the fact they are metal. Thanks for your Jinhao review!

    These are fantastic pens. A few years ago, eBay was flooded with these at rock-bottom prices and I bought about a dozen to give out as little gifts to friends, hoping to make some converts to the fountain pen lifestyle.

    A bit heavy for me if I want to write a lot (RA in hand), but I love mine! It’s such a smooth writer and should last and last. Off EBay I bought mine for $3 and change .

    I have a Jinhoa X450 gold band and dark green marble paint. I'm sorry bit it is stunning. It is solid, well made and lovely to write with. I own some relatively expensive pens at £350/400 mark as well. But regardless of price is a great pen. I was complimented at a business event on what a nice pen I had. I didnt have the heart to say it cost £5.🎉

    Nice. I have that blue one. (Noodlers 54th MA ink.) I did put an accessory Jinhao two tone Fine N°6 nib on it.
    Also have the Gray Marble (Noodlers Lexington Gray) with an accessory N°6 two tone Fine nib.
    Blue Marble (Noodlers 54th MA) and another two tone Fine nib.
    Dark Green Marble (looks black if the light isn't right) (Monteverde Jade Noir) two tone Fine nib.
    Gloss Black (Noodlers black) two tone Fine nib
    "Black Cracked Ice" (Birmingham Pen Co. Pressed Glass ink, two tone Fine nib.
    "Red Cracked Ice"/"Red Flowers" (Diamine Writers Blood) two tone Fine nib.
    The original Medium nibs are all great writers, but I prefer the Fine.
    I'm going to get a couple duplicates, clean the feeds and nibs, then leave them un-inked so they can be put in my shirt pocket before they close the lid and plant me six foot under. I'll have them put an unopened bottle of Noodlers black and probably 54th MA in with me, as well.
    I'm also going to take my stealth black 95 and porcelain 950 with dragon artwork with me. I'll need to decide on a different blue for the 950.
    If I get dug up in a few thousand to a couple million years, if the scientists can figure out (a) what they are (b) how to ink them (presuming the unopened bottles of ink haven't dried out) and (c) physically writing is still a known thing, I want the pens to work. 😁
    Who knows? maybe my 35,968th great grand daughter will be one of the scientists to discover me. 🤔🤪

    I've ordered this. Today I got a Jinhao 126 which is a very slim pen, looks like polished steel with a hooded nib, and I was gobsmacked at how well it wrote and looked. It's a bit thin for me to write more than a paragraph or two comfortably, but it's s stunner and has a gorgeous clip. Time to put away my 992 'demonstrator' pens I think.

    Great review and i completely agree with you this pen is more value for the money. I a few of jinhao's all of them are great. The blue did not attract me much initially but after watching your review i think i am going to get one in blue for myself now.

    I like the seven I have. The weight, heft and balance (and classic refined looks), and flawless writing (smooth, not scratch or grabby even on cheap copy paper) are ideal.
    They are my favorite fountain pens. If only they posted a little more securely.
    Oh well. I haven't lost or misplaced a cap ... yet ...😷👍
    I must disagree with your comment "This pen looks like you spent ,10 times what you did for this pen."
    I think 100 times the actual price would be more accurate. 😷👍

    The amazing thing about this pen is that I don't think the video did justice to just how much depth is in that blue. My gateway pen was a 450 identical to yours. It's been good to me. Too good to me actually, now it has a frat house of other Jinhaos to keep it company.
    Have you looked into a Hero 1501? I'm amazed at mine. I almost like it more than my 450.

    A recent discovery was a Jinhao x450 revision A (embossed on the cap band as 450-A without the X), which seems to be just like a normal X450 but in a near black gloss finish. There are a couple of tiny hints of dark red near the section end of the barrel which I've not yet figured out. I don't think it's an ink window and I don't think it's translucent so I don't know what it is, other than extremely attractive. For the same price as a legacy X450 it's worth looking out for one or these.

    • @JG3Reviews
      @JG3Reviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'll have to check that out.

    • @nickturner2813
      @nickturner2813 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Those red parts are just part of the colour design, called "Fireworks", they're on the cap also. It's not an ink window and it's not translucent, it's just colour.

    I was thinking of buying a Jinhao from aliexpress but I decided to wait a bit and go to a pen shop to see what they got. They had a lot of Jinhao pens but this one caught my attention and when I picked it up and tested it, I immediatelly fell in love, so I bought it. Sure it would be cheaper if I got it from aliexpress but testing the pens and fell them is just a better experience in my opinion.

    I think Jinhao x450 and Jinhao 159 write the same when it comes to their thickness. What do you think?

    • @JG3Reviews
      @JG3Reviews  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The nibs are identical, so they do write the same. The style, size, and weight will cause them to feel differently as the writing experience goes. Both great choices.

    • @kenz5469
      @kenz5469 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a medium and a broad nib on my 450s. They do have a difference in line thickness. My 159 with a medium nib just gushes ink. I'm switching it over to a Gflex nib. I guess there may be differences in the same nib, or they're mislabelled.

    I bought one in matt black, but within a fortnight it was scratched and peeling on the body. So I took of the paint with wire wool and wet 8k sandpaper. the end caps are solid brass and the body is stainless steel, and it looks great. I will metal polish and buff it to a mirror shine if possible, and then lacquer it. My only criticism of this pen is that without the paint, the bottom body cap won't hold the top secure. Maybe after a coat of lacquer it will.
