Coffee cake doesn’t actually have any coffee. That is, until today. Let’s step back for a minute. I understand the general concept around coffee cake is that you’re supposed to enjoy a slice while also sipping your morning coffee. Hence, a cake that pairs well with coffee. But why not just combine the two? Today, we’ve used about 15 pounds of coffee, which we boiled down to just a small amount and used to bake a single, magnificent coffee cake. I wanted to really concentrate the flavor, and it was awesome.
As a side note, please don’t forget to like this video. It really helps more than you could ever know. And, for your convenience, should you choose to make a TRUE coffee cake, I’ve listed out the ingredients as follows:
Cake
1 3/4 cups AP flour
3/4 tsp baking powder
3/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/3 cup brewed coffee
1/3 cup sour cream
2 sticks butter (room temp)
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
Crumb
1/2 cup AP flour
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp round cinnamon
4 tbsp melted butter

It’s one of the best parts of Nick’s videos and it makes them even better then they already are. Example: Already being taught every video how to do so many different skills and techniques to make basic, new, or crazy, creations in the kitchen.

The drug is dangerously high-levels of concentrated caffeine.
Honestly caffeine has never phased me so once I get enough extra money and proper equipment to make this I want to see if the caffeine will finally be able to effect me.
@@Chewy_Toast I would advise against taking a concentrated sip made from 15 lbs worth of coffee. No matter how little caffeine effects you, it still wouldn't be the best idea.

i've been thinking about coffee cakes all week, omg in love with your food and ideas
I literally made Coffee Cake a few months ago and thought the exact same thing....The recipe didnt call for coffee (as it typically doesnt) but i couldnt help but imagine how amazing it would taste with coffee in it. Im definitely gonna try this

I made coffee bean cookies the other day and I loved the flavour of coffee!
Cooking off coffee like that doesn’t necessarily make it more caffeinated. You’re basically cooking off all of the oils that add flavor notes to coffee, and are left with an overpowering burnt flavor. Caffeine also cooks off with steam, so you’re losing quite a bit of that as well.
Not being a hater, my dad is a coffee roaster and has clearly turned me into a coffee snob too, love the channel ❤️🤗

I think he meant that the caffeine from all that coffee would be left in the final small concentrate making it much more caffeinated then your average coffee, but yes it does degrade when heated so it’s not exactly the case
