@creataria Hms made you use your own mons. They added an element of strategy. Not having that perfect moveset meant you had to make decisions. Ride mons lack any depth since you can always use them at every time. Hms required you to have a mon that could use it in your party. A ton more depth

The elemental monkeys are underrated. They really dont deserve the hate they get. The elemental monkeys are pretty good in battle. They can dish out pretty strong attacks, can be speedy, and have good coverage. The thing with the monkeys tho is that they dont have the best defence but the strength and speed they have make up for it
I don't know if they are underrated, but Gamefreak did them dirty. They were created as a tool for the players to beat the first Gym. It was almost a plot-point by how obvious it was on the scenario, almost as Mega-Lucario. People tends to dislike when you hand over the solution. Even more when you are given the solution before you even faced the problem! Their playability was quite frustrating. Pokémon that evolve with Stone do not learn new moves. If you did it too early, you might miss important moves such as Seed Bomb. If you wanted the Crunch move (because Seed Bomb and Acrobatics are limited), then you need to reach level 43 with a Pokémon with awful stats. Moreover, I would say their lack of personality. Not design-wise (even if they could have done more). They share the same base stats and play roughly the same. Which is not something we should aim for. They will always been stuck as "the elemental monkeys" as if each individual ones don't matter. Eevee was handled differently: Vaporeon was bulky, Jolteon was fast, and Flareon was a mistake. Each one felt unique. I would say the elemental monkeys would have been more liked if we worked for it instead of being gifted easily to us: - If they were missable, or gift if you explored the area instead of being on the path. - If you could choose the elemental monkey instead of being gift one in particular, so creating more engagement. Heck, they could have fused Pansage/sear/pour into a Normal Pokémon à la Eevee, and let the player pick a stone to chose which line he or she wants. - If each line has more personality and really complement the starter well, like the Simisage complementing the poor Speed of Emboar, or Simipour dealing a lot of damage to complement the more supportive Serperior.
all Boss battles except for the first 2-3 rival battles should have at least 4 pokemon, no excuse, all Boss battles after the 4th gym should have a full team, no exception
Looking at it from the standpoint of the Pokemon world, having a Pokemon like that from the extreme past or extreme future would be kind of legendary. It'd be extremely extremely rare.
My hottest take is that the 3d models made some designs a lot better. Like the 2d sprites for the porygon line honestly have nothing interesting going on at all, but they went CRAZY with the 3d animations for porygon and porgon-z (and I guess porygon2 being a drinking bird thing is funny)
I have a stong connection to gen 6 because of some wonder trades and battling online a lot. I also really liked ORAS. My issue with gen 6 is it feels like they abandoned it too quickly. Unlike SwSh that we got 2 dlcs for (which a hot take of *mine* is SwSh are good, just the story was bad and the dlc somewhat helped the overall package), we got pretty much nothing in gen 6, and X and Y feel unfinished.
Gen 5 and Gen 7 are the best in my opinion, and while 5 finally got the attention it deserves, it's nice to finally see someone else appreciating Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon as well.

I only disagree about the necrozma fight because if you are playing for the first time it is easy to be wiped out by it as the game has been pretty easy till then so its unexpected. But if you know its coming then its easy to say that.
i personally find it more fair if all the kanto starters get all the stuff instead of just charizard i feel like that also fits pokemon more, with the choice of starter pokemon and team selection for example also based take about usum

I actually agree with a lot of your opinions! For me, (note that I have yet to play gen 1 and xy and i don’t have a switch to play the switch games) If I had to rank the titles I’ve played, in my PERSONAL OPINION, my least favorites would be gen 3 and gen 2. I only recently got to play emerald for the first time, so I don’t have much to say about it yet, but with oras I’ve gone into it multiple times with an open mind to see if maybe I’ll enjoy it more if I perhaps add some challenges for myself or the way i play, but even still every time I play it i just end up feeling very underwhelmed. The same goes for gen 2(note I’ve only played hg/ss) Even with the second region and “big postgame” i still never seem to clock in that many hours upon completion, and the experience is just a little forgettable for me. I can’t even recall anything important from it despite playing it multiple times, aside from some cool moments with the legendaries and some pretty 2d art (that one path with the autumn leaves is gorgeous. i really like the long yellow bridge too). While I have more personal issues with Oras, i can at least give it credit in that it’s a more memorable experience for me than hgss. At least it makes me feel SOMETHING, yk? I can’t say anything about gen 1, xy or the switch games, but gen 2 and gen 3 are my least favorites, with my favorites being gen 5, gen 4, and gen 7. i agree with you that gen 7 gets too much hate! Also, i just used a breloom for the first time in my emerald playthrough, and lemme just say hunie the breloom was a star player. It’s a good pick for your favorite!
My hot takes: Greninja deserves it's attention and it's one of the best starters. (I can sense the Swampert fans) Rilaboom's design is cool Pokémon X and Y are one of the best games Unovan starters are pretty underwhelming Sceptile is a better starter choice than Swampert (Especially if you're playing a Nuzlocke, in speed run Swampert is the choice though) Gengar is cool
About signature moves, Emboar get it the worst. Sure, Heat Crash isn't bad, especially compared to the utter GARBAGE that is Leaf Tornado. But out of all the other Pokemon that subsequently got heat crash, they're all HEAVIER than Emboar! Emboar is a measly 330 pounds (It should be 700 pounds minimum imo since it's the "mega fire pig" even though he's lighter than any full grown pig), while the other pokemon I know that get it are Rhyperior (624 pounds) and Groudon (2094!) This makes Emboaar arguably the weakest heat crash user, which is totally unfair
no one starter pokemon is bad in my opinion except for meganium and serperior and even then, that's from a move/typing standpoint. the starter pokemon (pikavee included) are all meant to resonate with someone as the first partner mon. and the trio of grass, water, fire is the most simple and easy to understand type trio also i do kot accept primarina slander 7:28

I appreciate most of these takes, but I have a few criticisms. The take about gen 4 being the best and 8 the worst isn't really a hot take. It's a popular opinion. The one about Game Freak needing to slow down development is also a popular take. The one about GF cutting the national dex so they could sell all the Pokemon back as DLC doesn't make any sense. Whenever a new DLC comes out, all the Pokemon that are added to the game or return in that DLC are patched into the game as a free update. You can trade with a friend or transfer from Home to get returning mons without paying for the DLC. While it's true that some features of Home cost money, Pokemon Bank was entirely paywalled, and people were fine with it. I don't agree with Dexit either, but I think the motivation was laziness rather than reselling cut Pokemon in DLCs.
I honestly agree with most of the hot take here i liked the graphics in sword and shield scarlet and violet had some of if not the best story in pokemon ever and koraidon and miraidon arent legendary they are paradox pokemon speaking of koraidon and miradidon they are of the best legendries in tthe series because of their story and arent just strong pokemon that you catch, they feel like your friend you have a bond with them.

HG/SS are beloved remakes because they just add to the Gen 2 experience. They are faithful (almost to a fault) but did do stuff like add the Kanto legends, fix Viridian forest and connected the lore of the title legendaries better. They’re just straight upgrades to Gen 2 while BD/SP are completely inferior to Platinum and OR/AS neglected to bring back the biggest selling point of Emerald, the Battle Frontier.

The thumbnail, in my opinion, is something I definitely agree with. XY were very fun to play through, granted I was just starting middle school. It was exciting. If I played through the game now (ten years later) I would still find it better than HGSS.

Talking about the sun and moon nuzzlelockes, have you ever done a water type only nuzzlelocke in ultra sun/moon? It’s real difficult however, ultra necrozma can easily be cheesed I was just STUPID! Araquanid learns mirror coat (that may not be the name but the move reflects special damage at twice the damage) so if you aren’t dumb like me you can keep it. But the rest of the game is extremely difficult and I can’t imagine beating it without araquanid bc it’s so important for so many fights. I just finished my water only Locke and am planning to move into an electric only Locke and see what happens
I’d argue that Cynthia in BDSP is actually the strongest champion. Her team has perfect IV’s and min maxed EV’s with the perfect natures and decent held items and this is only the first fight not the postgame one. She’s the only champion that does all of those things before post game. And the player is expected to deal with her borderline competitive team with their weak ingame team.
@@Wimicry My plan in BDSP was to wall her garchomp with my togekiss. Only to find out her garchomp actually carries poison jab for coverage. At the start of the battle my empoleon goes for the surf on her Spiritomb but she swaps into her Storm drain Gastrodon. While i did win the fight she is definitely overturned for a non post game battle and it was actually pretty fun to have to think a little. But I could imagine a kid getting stuck at this point since her in the elite 4 are a pretty big spike even with the EXP share being on. First elite 4 guy is already doing stuff like flame orb guts Heracross. With a perfect nature and ev spread. And it only gets worse as you go on.
My hot take is that I think Gen. 4; more so with Diamond, Pearl & even Platinum, are the most overrated gens of the entire franchise. Now before u put an hate on the comments, let me explain. I'm not exactly counting side games like Mystery Dungeons or Rangers. I'm more into the mainline games and I think Sinnoh & even the Johto remake to some extent are boring for me. The major issue I have with those games; especially Sinnoh, is that there incredibly slow. Battles takes forever to load, doing things like animation or movesets are an slow paste, seeing there HP going down or up is sluggish and even getting experience points to level up takes an while. And going just into Sinnoh alone, I thought the region was boring and also slow as heck due to overlapping routes that about 2 or 3 together that takes an while to go for an town or city for the Pokemon Center, how u walk or even run isn't smoothly as fast as it should've and hazards like an fog that's annoying to get through without Defog and others like swamp & snow that you stop & go and rense & repeat are annoying. And don't even get me started on the amount of HM requirements that u need to progress. That is the worst. I also believed that Sinnoh is an little bit too much on the exploration side rather than balancing the progression and exploration respectively. I don't mind having an freedom to explore. But sometimes I forget on where I need to go and which is the best way to do this. Lastly, I think Sinnoh has the worst roster dex out of the entire series due to poorly limited choices and unbalanced type curve. Especially the Fire types. Even though Platinum does improved the dex an little bit like adding 3 more Fire types and such, it still wasn't enough. It lacks any variety. Plus there's so many evolution gimmicks that are overly complex and I just couldn't keep it up. I will respect this gen for changing some gameplay elements like the Physical/Special stats and whatnot. But the best gen of the franchise or best Pokemon games? No. Personally, I think Gen. 5 is the best and Black 2 & White 2 are the best Pokemon game in terms of the mainline series. That's all just my opinion. Y'all may not agree. But that's how I feel.

I stand with you on the fact that Legends Arceus was great and we need a new one, I'm willing to give them another chance for remakes but Legends is priority. Although I haven't played that game if I were I would probably enjoy it so the 3rd sequel would be first person were you have to fight the Pokemon you could use Pokemon moves you would play as Wes it would have voice acting and some horror aspects cuz a Pokemon horror game would be dope
Honestly you gave a good point about the DLC. DLC is just a triggering word for a lot of people (myself included NGL). I would rather much have a DLC than a 3rd Pokemon game. Of course people (myself included) would rather not have DLC at all and the base games come with the content and fixes already without having to buy an overglorified patch.
The only hot take I disagree with is the "Cynthia isn't hard" take. She isn't abhorrently tricky by any means...however, she was the first champion to have a diverse team of heavy hitters. Every single Pokemon on her team has a BST above 500. Like, obviously she isn't "hard" by an adult's standard. Pokemon is a game meant for children, afterall... And, for the record, she's still the best champ regardless of prowess. There isn't any champion that is more difficult than she is(except maybe Iris in B2W2, but any Ice Type will wreck her stuff.)

The problems people had with BDSP were the graphics and the fact a lot of their design decisions for remaking the game were based on Diamond and Pearl rather than Platinum.
For me it’s not Kanto, I don’t care about it and never will. Mainly it’s the graphics, the quality of life improvements from gen four, the fact that they essentially remade CRYSTAL and not S/G, and Battle Frontier. That imo made HG/SS the PERFECT Pokémon remake. Nothing that followed has never even come close that as far as remakes go.

My first game was Ultra Moon and I really love the concept of the Ultra Beasts, my favourites are probably Blacephalon and Nihilego(I also remember finding out Blacephalon is a Sun exclusive and that made me kinda sad) Also gonna replay the game since I haven't played it in 2 years

I don't think some of these were really hot takes, but I do agree with some of these. I like the elemental pokemon, XY are great games, and the gen 5 pokedex limit was interesting. I also disagree with some, gen 8 is not that bad, Koraidon and Miraidon are paradox pokemon but can also be considered legendary due to being fixed encounters and only two available with higher than normal stats. Also, you may only be talking design or personalo bias, but Venusaur is the best gen 1 starter. The only reason I didn't like Ash-Greninja was because it was never explained. Why was this specific Greninja, or pokemon in general, so special that it mutated. There were other pokemon that Ash had a closer bond with and didn't get a new unique form. I get that the reason it got one was popularity, but I don't think it was explained in the show. Great video though
I do agree. I wish the Galar Starters had secondary types. I would have liked Inteleon more if it had a secondary type but Inteleon and the rest of the others like you said remain mid.

for real! I haven't played the 4th gen yet but she has a pretty generic team- it looks cool, obviously, she is pretty strong but... she's the champion. That's the point! I am having a LOT of trouble beating Wattson on Emerald because there are no favorable type pokémon to catch other than an Aron with mud slap. Naturally, I am over-leveling my pokémon to beat the Mauville gym.

The fire type starter is usually the best in playthrough(because of really good offenses) Grass is always the worst one(bad defenses and bad offenses), (side note i adore some of the grass type starters(Decidueye), and hate some Fire ones(Charizard, Infernape, Skeledirge)

I have a couple: Gen 6 is atrocious in every sense of the word, if it wasn't for the Megas, it would be remember as a lazy, atrocious excuse of a Pokémon game. I never understood the fanatism behind Gen 1, it has aged like milk, the mechanics are straight up ridiculous and is arguably the most unbalanced competitive Generation. With that said, the GBA remakes are the best games of the entire franchise. P.S: I agree with your Charizard and Gen 7 takes
- I'm going to disagree with your opinion on Lucario. Not everything is for everyone and that's okay. Lucario is an incredible Pokemon with huge diversity and an ass load of potential. - As for Cynthia and Whitney, you're wrong here as well. Even with a good team, Whitney and Cynthia have both beat me and many other good players who run nuzlocke challenges. - Gardevoir is great even without the individuals who hold some Pokemon in a sexual light. It's a very strong special attacking powerhouse with amazing coverage. The same goes for Gallade, though it's a physical attacker. - The best generations had Platinum, Black and White, and Black and White 2. - The worst generation is generation 9 by a long shot. Sword and Shield are better than Scarlet and Violet. Sorry, not sorry. I loved dynamax and gigantamax mechanics over the terestal phenomenon. I'm excluding the story by the way. I love Scarlet and Violet's story. - Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl were great and fun cute little remakes of Diamond and Pearl. The hate this game gets is solely because GameFreak and the company that remade it wanted to try a new art style for Pokemon and because people were crying about not getting a Platinum remake. I wanted a Platinum remake as well, but I'm not crying like a bitch about it. I've gotten hundreds of hours of fun out of these remakes and I can't wait for Unova. - I agree with you on the Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire thing, but much like Platinum, I wish we had gotten an Emerald remake. I loved the extra double battles and the little bit extra of a challenge Emerald brought over Ruby and Sapphire, especially for Tate and Liza. An Emerald remake with the Delta Episode and mega evolution would've been amazing. - Heart Gold and Soul Silver would have been a whole lot more fun if the levels were balanced better. I can't tell you the amount of hours I spent grinding just to be able to progress because it was so imbalanced. - HMs are hated because it forced you to take up a slot in your team for a Pokemon that was exclusively for HMs and/or neutering the diversity of your water type's move pool due to needing Waterfall, Surf, Whirlpool, etc, in some games. Shoutout Naganadel for being my favorite ultra beast.

@creataria Hms made you use your own mons. They added an element of strategy. Not having that perfect moveset meant you had to make decisions. Ride mons lack any depth since you can always use them at every time. Hms required you to have a mon that could use it in your party. A ton more depth

The elemental monkeys are underrated. They really dont deserve the hate they get. The elemental monkeys are pretty good in battle. They can dish out pretty strong attacks, can be speedy, and have good coverage. The thing with the monkeys tho is that they dont have the best defence but the strength and speed they have make up for it

I don't know if they are underrated, but Gamefreak did them dirty. They were created as a tool for the players to beat the first Gym. It was almost a plot-point by how obvious it was on the scenario, almost as Mega-Lucario. People tends to dislike when you hand over the solution. Even more when you are given the solution before you even faced the problem!
Their playability was quite frustrating. Pokémon that evolve with Stone do not learn new moves. If you did it too early, you might miss important moves such as Seed Bomb. If you wanted the Crunch move (because Seed Bomb and Acrobatics are limited), then you need to reach level 43 with a Pokémon with awful stats.
Moreover, I would say their lack of personality. Not design-wise (even if they could have done more). They share the same base stats and play roughly the same. Which is not something we should aim for. They will always been stuck as "the elemental monkeys" as if each individual ones don't matter. Eevee was handled differently: Vaporeon was bulky, Jolteon was fast, and Flareon was a mistake. Each one felt unique.
I would say the elemental monkeys would have been more liked if we worked for it instead of being gifted easily to us:
- If they were missable, or gift if you explored the area instead of being on the path.
- If you could choose the elemental monkey instead of being gift one in particular, so creating more engagement. Heck, they could have fused Pansage/sear/pour into a Normal Pokémon à la Eevee, and let the player pick a stone to chose which line he or she wants.
- If each line has more personality and really complement the starter well, like the Simisage complementing the poor Speed of Emboar, or Simipour dealing a lot of damage to complement the more supportive Serperior.
I restarted pokemon y and noticed they can be found in santalune forest, I picked fennekin as my starter and got myself a pansage and a panpour

Looking at it from the standpoint of the Pokemon world, having a Pokemon like that from the extreme past or extreme future would be kind of legendary. It'd be extremely extremely rare.
My hottest take is that the 3d models made some designs a lot better. Like the 2d sprites for the porygon line honestly have nothing interesting going on at all, but they went CRAZY with the 3d animations for porygon and porgon-z (and I guess porygon2 being a drinking bird thing is funny)
I have a stong connection to gen 6 because of some wonder trades and battling online a lot. I also really liked ORAS. My issue with gen 6 is it feels like they abandoned it too quickly. Unlike SwSh that we got 2 dlcs for (which a hot take of *mine* is SwSh are good, just the story was bad and the dlc somewhat helped the overall package), we got pretty much nothing in gen 6, and X and Y feel unfinished.

I actually agree with a lot of your opinions! For me, (note that I have yet to play gen 1 and xy and i don’t have a switch to play the switch games) If I had to rank the titles I’ve played, in my PERSONAL OPINION, my least favorites would be gen 3 and gen 2. I only recently got to play emerald for the first time, so I don’t have much to say about it yet, but with oras I’ve gone into it multiple times with an open mind to see if maybe I’ll enjoy it more if I perhaps add some challenges for myself or the way i play, but even still every time I play it i just end up feeling very underwhelmed. The same goes for gen 2(note I’ve only played hg/ss) Even with the second region and “big postgame” i still never seem to clock in that many hours upon completion, and the experience is just a little forgettable for me. I can’t even recall anything important from it despite playing it multiple times, aside from some cool moments with the legendaries and some pretty 2d art (that one path with the autumn leaves is gorgeous. i really like the long yellow bridge too). While I have more personal issues with Oras, i can at least give it credit in that it’s a more memorable experience for me than hgss. At least it makes me feel SOMETHING, yk? I can’t say anything about gen 1, xy or the switch games, but gen 2 and gen 3 are my least favorites, with my favorites being gen 5, gen 4, and gen 7. i agree with you that gen 7 gets too much hate!
Also, i just used a breloom for the first time in my emerald playthrough, and lemme just say hunie the breloom was a star player. It’s a good pick for your favorite!

Greninja deserves it's attention and it's one of the best starters. (I can sense the Swampert fans)
Rilaboom's design is cool
Pokémon X and Y are one of the best games
Unovan starters are pretty underwhelming
Sceptile is a better starter choice than Swampert (Especially if you're playing a Nuzlocke, in speed run Swampert is the choice though)
Gengar is cool
About signature moves, Emboar get it the worst. Sure, Heat Crash isn't bad, especially compared to the utter GARBAGE that is Leaf Tornado. But out of all the other Pokemon that subsequently got heat crash, they're all HEAVIER than Emboar! Emboar is a measly 330 pounds (It should be 700 pounds minimum imo since it's the "mega fire pig" even though he's lighter than any full grown pig), while the other pokemon I know that get it are Rhyperior (624 pounds) and Groudon (2094!) This makes Emboaar arguably the weakest heat crash user, which is totally unfair

I appreciate most of these takes, but I have a few criticisms.
The take about gen 4 being the best and 8 the worst isn't really a hot take. It's a popular opinion.
The one about Game Freak needing to slow down development is also a popular take.
The one about GF cutting the national dex so they could sell all the Pokemon back as DLC doesn't make any sense. Whenever a new DLC comes out, all the Pokemon that are added to the game or return in that DLC are patched into the game as a free update. You can trade with a friend or transfer from Home to get returning mons without paying for the DLC. While it's true that some features of Home cost money, Pokemon Bank was entirely paywalled, and people were fine with it. I don't agree with Dexit either, but I think the motivation was laziness rather than reselling cut Pokemon in DLCs.

HG/SS are beloved remakes because they just add to the Gen 2 experience. They are faithful (almost to a fault) but did do stuff like add the Kanto legends, fix Viridian forest and connected the lore of the title legendaries better.
They’re just straight upgrades to Gen 2 while BD/SP are completely inferior to Platinum and OR/AS neglected to bring back the biggest selling point of Emerald, the Battle Frontier.

The thumbnail, in my opinion, is something I definitely agree with. XY were very fun to play through, granted I was just starting middle school. It was exciting. If I played through the game now (ten years later) I would still find it better than HGSS.

Ultra Necrozma is easy, I never remember struggling with it
Talking about the sun and moon nuzzlelockes, have you ever done a water type only nuzzlelocke in ultra sun/moon? It’s real difficult however, ultra necrozma can easily be cheesed I was just STUPID! Araquanid learns mirror coat (that may not be the name but the move reflects special damage at twice the damage) so if you aren’t dumb like me you can keep it. But the rest of the game is extremely difficult and I can’t imagine beating it without araquanid bc it’s so important for so many fights. I just finished my water only Locke and am planning to move into an electric only Locke and see what happens

I’d argue that Cynthia in BDSP is actually the strongest champion. Her team has perfect IV’s and min maxed EV’s with the perfect natures and decent held items and this is only the first fight not the postgame one. She’s the only champion that does all of those things before post game. And the player is expected to deal with her borderline competitive team with their weak ingame team.
@@Wimicry My plan in BDSP was to wall her garchomp with my togekiss. Only to find out her garchomp actually carries poison jab for coverage. At the start of the battle my empoleon goes for the surf on her Spiritomb but she swaps into her Storm drain Gastrodon. While i did win the fight she is definitely overturned for a non post game battle and it was actually pretty fun to have to think a little. But I could imagine a kid getting stuck at this point since her in the elite 4 are a pretty big spike even with the EXP share being on. First elite 4 guy is already doing stuff like flame orb guts Heracross. With a perfect nature and ev spread. And it only gets worse as you go on.

My hot take is that I think Gen. 4; more so with Diamond, Pearl & even Platinum, are the most overrated gens of the entire franchise. Now before u put an hate on the comments, let me explain. I'm not exactly counting side games like Mystery Dungeons or Rangers. I'm more into the mainline games and I think Sinnoh & even the Johto remake to some extent are boring for me. The major issue I have with those games; especially Sinnoh, is that there incredibly slow. Battles takes forever to load, doing things like animation or movesets are an slow paste, seeing there HP going down or up is sluggish and even getting experience points to level up takes an while. And going just into Sinnoh alone, I thought the region was boring and also slow as heck due to overlapping routes that about 2 or 3 together that takes an while to go for an town or city for the Pokemon Center, how u walk or even run isn't smoothly as fast as it should've and hazards like an fog that's annoying to get through without Defog and others like swamp & snow that you stop & go and rense & repeat are annoying. And don't even get me started on the amount of HM requirements that u need to progress. That is the worst. I also believed that Sinnoh is an little bit too much on the exploration side rather than balancing the progression and exploration respectively. I don't mind having an freedom to explore. But sometimes I forget on where I need to go and which is the best way to do this. Lastly, I think Sinnoh has the worst roster dex out of the entire series due to poorly limited choices and unbalanced type curve. Especially the Fire types. Even though Platinum does improved the dex an little bit like adding 3 more Fire types and such, it still wasn't enough. It lacks any variety. Plus there's so many evolution gimmicks that are overly complex and I just couldn't keep it up. I will respect this gen for changing some gameplay elements like the Physical/Special stats and whatnot. But the best gen of the franchise or best Pokemon games? No. Personally, I think Gen. 5 is the best and Black 2 & White 2 are the best Pokemon game in terms of the mainline series. That's all just my opinion. Y'all may not agree. But that's how I feel.

I stand with you on the fact that Legends Arceus was great and we need a new one, I'm willing to give them another chance for remakes but Legends is priority. Also agree that lucario is lame because the only reason it is popular is Game Freak forcing it to be popular with marketing, it's essentially just charizard except people actually asked for more charizard, no one asked for more lucario

In my opinion RSE and DPPt have better OST; Mt Coronet, Abandoned Ship, vs Hoenn Gym leader, vs Hoenn Trainer, vs Giratina, vs Groudon, vs Frontier Brain(both emerald and platinum), all their route themes, mt pyre exterior, mt chimney and vs Steven
All of these themes are better than any BW theme
Pokémon Y was the first game I ever played and I loved it. I lost to Olympia and Siebold so many times I went broke but I enjoyed the games very much.
We need a 3rd sequel of Pokemon Collusseum. Although I haven't played that game if I were I would probably enjoy it so the 3rd sequel would be first person were you have to fight the Pokemon you could use Pokemon moves you would play as Wes it would have voice acting and some horror aspects cuz a Pokemon horror game would be dope
Honestly you gave a good point about the DLC. DLC is just a triggering word for a lot of people (myself included NGL). I would rather much have a DLC than a 3rd Pokemon game. Of course people (myself included) would rather not have DLC at all and the base games come with the content and fixes already without having to buy an overglorified patch.

The only hot take I disagree with is the "Cynthia isn't hard" take. She isn't abhorrently tricky by any means...however, she was the first champion to have a diverse team of heavy hitters. Every single Pokemon on her team has a BST above 500. Like, obviously she isn't "hard" by an adult's standard. Pokemon is a game meant for children, afterall... And, for the record, she's still the best champ regardless of prowess. There isn't any champion that is more difficult than she is(except maybe Iris in B2W2, but any Ice Type will wreck her stuff.)

For me it’s not Kanto, I don’t care about it and never will. Mainly it’s the graphics, the quality of life improvements from gen four, the fact that they essentially remade CRYSTAL and not S/G, and Battle Frontier. That imo made HG/SS the PERFECT Pokémon remake. Nothing that followed has never even come close that as far as remakes go.

Here's a hot take: I like BDSP and think they are ok, if not outright good, games.
My first game was Ultra Moon and I really love the concept of the Ultra Beasts, my favourites are probably Blacephalon and Nihilego(I also remember finding out Blacephalon is a Sun exclusive and that made me kinda sad)

Because if so HELL NAH it would be very balanced if a fire/ground/rock Groudon died to a single bubblebeam from Marill. if youre saying "the starters should have different types than fire > grass > water > fire" no because while mechanically it wouldnt make a difference it would be a lot harder to get into the games since it further complicates the rock paper scissor aspect for no reason and dont gimme the "oh its been 9 gens we can handle it" no not everyone was there for pokemon since day 1 as much as it hurts to hear it as a pokemon fan since my fucking birth no pokemon is a brand you cant just pander to the older fans and lose money just because "the older fans got tired of seeing fire grass water" its a stupid ass idea that would complicate pokemon to beginners for no reason

I don't think some of these were really hot takes, but I do agree with some of these. I like the elemental pokemon, XY are great games, and the gen 5 pokedex limit was interesting. I also disagree with some, gen 8 is not that bad, Koraidon and Miraidon are paradox pokemon but can also be considered legendary due to being fixed encounters and only two available with higher than normal stats. Also, you may only be talking design or personalo bias, but Venusaur is the best gen 1 starter. The only reason I didn't like Ash-Greninja was because it was never explained. Why was this specific Greninja, or pokemon in general, so special that it mutated. There were other pokemon that Ash had a closer bond with and didn't get a new unique form. I get that the reason it got one was popularity, but I don't think it was explained in the show. Great video though

for real! I haven't played the 4th gen yet but she has a pretty generic team- it looks cool, obviously, she is pretty strong but... she's the champion. That's the point! I am having a LOT of trouble beating Wattson on Emerald because there are no favorable type pokémon to catch other than an Aron with mud slap. Naturally, I am over-leveling my pokémon to beat the Mauville gym.

The fire type starter is usually the best in playthrough(because of really good offenses)
Grass is always the worst one(bad defenses and bad offenses), (side note i adore some of the grass type starters(Decidueye), and hate some Fire ones(Charizard, Infernape, Skeledirge)

Gen 6 is atrocious in every sense of the word, if it wasn't for the Megas, it would be remember as a lazy, atrocious excuse of a Pokémon game.
I never understood the fanatism behind Gen 1, it has aged like milk, the mechanics are straight up ridiculous and is arguably the most unbalanced competitive Generation. With that said, the GBA remakes are the best games of the entire franchise.

- I'm going to disagree with your opinion on Lucario. Not everything is for everyone and that's okay. Lucario is an incredible Pokemon with huge diversity and an ass load of potential.
- As for Cynthia and Whitney, you're wrong here as well. Even with a good team, Whitney and Cynthia have both beat me and many other good players who run nuzlocke challenges.
- Gardevoir is great even without the individuals who hold some Pokemon in a sexual light. It's a very strong special attacking powerhouse with amazing coverage. The same goes for Gallade, though it's a physical attacker.
- The best generations had Platinum, Black and White, and Black and White 2.
- The worst generation is generation 9 by a long shot. Sword and Shield are better than Scarlet and Violet. Sorry, not sorry. I loved dynamax and gigantamax mechanics over the terestal phenomenon. I'm excluding the story by the way. I love Scarlet and Violet's story.
- Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl were great and fun cute little remakes of Diamond and Pearl. The hate this game gets is solely because GameFreak and the company that remade it wanted to try a new art style for Pokemon and because people were crying about not getting a Platinum remake. I wanted a Platinum remake as well, but I'm not crying like a bitch about it. I've gotten hundreds of hours of fun out of these remakes and I can't wait for Unova.
- I agree with you on the Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire thing, but much like Platinum, I wish we had gotten an Emerald remake. I loved the extra double battles and the little bit extra of a challenge Emerald brought over Ruby and Sapphire, especially for Tate and Liza. An Emerald remake with the Delta Episode and mega evolution would've been amazing.
- Heart Gold and Soul Silver would have been a whole lot more fun if the levels were balanced better. I can't tell you the amount of hours I spent grinding just to be able to progress because it was so imbalanced.
- HMs are hated because it forced you to take up a slot in your team for a Pokemon that was exclusively for HMs and/or neutering the diversity of your water type's move pool due to needing Waterfall, Surf, Whirlpool, etc, in some games.
