Gigabyte M32U - 4K 144hz Monitor Review (Long Version)

  • The Gigabyte M32U monitor has a lot going for it and although it might not have everything I want out of a monitor it comes pretty close. The price tag here is less than other 4k monitors on the market with similar specs. It's not cheap by any means but its two to three hundred dollars cheaper than those other monitors.

    11:05 I hope you figured it out already but if not, for the OSD Sidekick App to work you need a usb cable connected between pc and monitor (Note : To enable OSD Sidekick, it requires connection between PC and monitor with USB cable.). Like this you can also perform the required firmware updates, last version is F10 from June 2022

    This would be a a weird but a very specific question Steven, how is upscaling of 1440p on this monitor? I noticed something mentioned in the document you were sharing in the video. As every monitor deals with upscaling in a different way, how does M32u do it? Thanks.

    • @zirize
      @zirize ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It has a sharpen filter called super resolution. It's a garbage.
      However if you are a ms windows user(with Nvidia or AMD gpu) or a linux user(with AMD or Intel gpu), you don't have to rely on monitor's upscaling.
      Many games support FSR,DLSS upscaling and the driver level FSR upscaling feature (RSR,NIS or gamescope) is also amazing.
      In fact my daily drive is Radeon 6400.

    • @kratos21491
      @kratos21491 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      M32u is 4K if u want to use a console and PC should go with gigabyte. Alienware is a PC specific monitor as it’s ultrawide and 1440p. OLED would be awesome tbh because of its blacks. If you already have a good tv then go for the Alienware. If you want a multipurpose monitor then go for M32u.

    • @1UpNerdcore
      @1UpNerdcore  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Alienware is getting great reviews but it’s almost double the cost and it won’t be great for consoles since they don’t display 21:9 aspect ratios. Ikanos is right with his comment

  • @robert0502
    @robert0502 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I am trying to choose between M32U, M32UC and M28U. Mostly, I would like to try a curved monitor, but I didn't see many videos about that monitor. In my country the M28U is 500 euros, the M32UC is 640 euros and the M32U is around 700 euros. What do you say?
    I mostly play games with story: RDR 2, GTA V, The Last of Us etc.
    And I often play PUBG.
    For FPS games, I think a smaller screen is better because you don't have to move your eyes so much. But for story games, I think the 32 inch would be better.
    My GPU is 4070ti. In future when the GPU will get old, I will need to put the resolution at 2K.
    I don't think that 4K on 28 inch is so good, but also 2K on 32 inch isn't as good as 2K on 28 inch.
    What would be your advice?

    • @1UpNerdcore
      @1UpNerdcore  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Depends on your budget I guess. Do you have to have the curve? If so then go with that one. If not I would go with the M32U, it’s a great monitor. 28 inches would be to small for me personally but it depends on your sitting distance from the monitor

      @JayJay-jx3zg ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pedrog4651 Find a true 10 bit panel for that. Neither of these are. The LG has so much gray it's gross, and that due to the IPS panel, with terrible contrast ratio, plus the panel is 8 bit + FRC. The M32U isn't much better even tho it's VA, because it's low on brightness, the contrast ratio isn't amazing, not sure if it's backlit, and it's only 8 bit + FRC as well.
      I'm not sure if it would suit you, but I got the Samsung 32" QN90B, which fixes all of the above. Great brightness, great contrast ratio, true 10 bit panel, great backlit 120 hz panel and the added size was a bonus.

    • @hypersot
      @hypersot 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@1UpNerdcore OLEDs have terrible low brightness, ie. the min.brightness is way too bright for long hours usage. You can verify that by checking the cd/m2 in rtings for oled monitors, only one is close to the generally 'accepted' low brightness of 50cd/m2. Moreover they are known to have terrible text clarity.
