I notice that the woods used for the demonstration are light colored woods. If you make this cut in Rose Cedar, Mahogany (brown) woods, prepare to get your hands dirty! It generated a lot of waste. In Brazil we have woods with this tonality such as Caxeta, pine, Pinus and others. But all with light coloring. I had a 100 watt CO2 laser cutting machine. Recently, I got rid of it because I found this type of machine to be much easier to work with because it doesn't take up so much space. So much so, that in the coming months, I intend to acquire a machine with this technology with a power of 20 watts. Is CO2 good? Yes But an inconvenience due to taking up a lot of space, being very heavy and difficult and complicating the work due to the problems inherent to it. I hope I contributed. A proposal. Make wood cuts like the woods described at the beginning. You will see that I speak with propriety.
Great video. Clearly shows the reason assist is required, if nothing more than keeping the lens cleaner. How about a similar video on whether or not air assist helps when engraving, and how much air ( a little or full air). Common knowledge says not air , but I don't know why. Thanks again. Love your reviews. Very fair and impartial.
I did some engraving with the air assist in the Sculpfun S10 video. It makes darker engravings. But I haven't tested the effect the amount of air makes. But less air should make it look more and more looking like the results without air assist.
This highly depends on the module. Some need frequent cleaning, some not. You look at the lens and if you see it is not clear then you clean it. Better clean it more often than not.
thanks for the great and detailed test, but I have an off topic question: on that honeycomb I saw that the magnet sticks, is it made of iron? If so, could you link to where did you get it?
@@bobahaha8412 Cutting PVC with laser is very dangerous.Emits pure chlorine gas when cut! Which is very harmful to health. Don't cut this material as it will cause the metal of the machine to corrode and will harm your health.
There is no such thing as best laser, because it somewhat depends on what you want to do with it. But the S9 is my favourite and the best performing 5W laser in its price range. It is very good in all aspects.
It is possiblem, but not recommended. Lasers don't have enough rigid frame to take the forces when milling. CNC is usually substantially more massively build and rigid, because it is designed to take some forces.

Will it cut gold sheet metal ? I am looking to buy Sculpfun S10 for my jewellery cuttings. I know engraving will work, but for cutting I have some doubt. Please clarify if you encounter such situation. Thanks.
Bought the air assist but my laser module is not the same as every one in the video’s I have watched. Mine must be an old model as that is the reason I cannot fit it. Is there anything I can do or am going to have to buy a new laser unit.
great video, thanks. Would you say that the Xtool pro is really way better than the S10 or is really not difference that worth spending the hundreds of dollars more? I want it o do engraving on tumblers and coffee mugs, 304 stainless steel. thank you in advance for your advice. Also, have you seen that sculpfun released a new model named S30?
Xtool is a bit more premium. Their RA2 rotary is better for tumblers. S10 is better bang for the buck. It depends on your budget. Yes I heard about the S30. I wil test it soon.

Great video, do you know what PSI is the pump putting out?
On Sculpfun pump it says >0.03MPa which translates to around 4.35PSI
can you make a video all about diode laser lens? like how much wood or acrylic cutting before the lens needs cleaning or replacement
This highly depends on the module. Some need frequent cleaning, some not. You look at the lens and if you see it is not clear then you clean it. Better clean it more often than not.
Best video thank you
thanks for the video! quick question. do you recommend it for engraving woods? S9 5.5W. thanks
It is great laser engraver. But if you want an improved version, check the Sculpfun S30
I have a AENBUSLM 40W Laser Engraving Head With Air Assist Laser .i was wondering what air pressure in psi(id use a small acompresser) to use ??
I don't know the pressure, but the flow is around 25L/min.
I have a sculpfun s10 too, and it feels great to have air assist!

Please reply can it cut regular mdf of 5 mm thicker rather than pine laser mdf? With finishing please make video humble request ❤
What machine? Mdf can be cut a little thinner compared to solid wood because it has glue inside.

How do commercial laser cutters get around the issue? Do they have downdraft suction or do they have the same air assist nozzle?
They also use similar type of nozzle.

Diode lasers can't cut white or transparent acrylic
