  • Brendan heads up to Revelstoke, British Columbia to fish with Gibbs Delta Pro Staff member Chad Deschamps. They troll the Columbia River looking for Monster Bull Trout in a style of fishing Brendan has never done before. Mushroom foraging, riverside campfires and more are featured in this “can’t miss” outdoor adventure.

My great grandfather used to tell me stories bout the Colombia river before the dams in British Columbia. He once told me that back then salmon and steelhead used to make it all the way up there.

I can’t imagine what it must have been like back in the day. It’s still an amazing river and definitely a dream spot for anyone chasing bull trout!

That looked like an amazing trip. The fish where great fighters and as big as salmon that we’re hooking in the ocean. I think a better fight because of the current in the river. Chad knew how to handle the net Haha . Thanks for the video

I have caught lots of Bull trout from Half Way river down to Nakusp. My best was 13 lbs but average 8 lbs.

Rookie here... are those type of rods designed for trolling? Can you exceed the the weight written on the rod? Also how do you rig that setup?

Yes, the rods we use for salmon fishing are specifically designed for trolling/mootching. I use the TNCM106MH2A model. The line is rated for 15-25lbs but I typically run 30-40lbs as my main line. These are the exact same rods we used for bull trout fishing when we were with Chad. That river is know to have big bull trout (over 20lbs). Our set up was probably on the heavier side for sure but it worked.
