Thanks for providing this video. I'm a volunteer in the Pahranagat NWR Visitor Center and we get people coming in and asking about Tikaboo Peak and Area 51. I will direct them to this video for reference. BTW, we have bathrooms and water available at the Visitor Center even when we aren't open. 🦆
Awesome, thanks! There is also a part 2 to the video: th-cam.com/video/gSuqXaGCDm8/w-d-xo.html And feel free to direct them to our Rachel web site: www.rachel-nevada.com Or reach out to me in email: webmaster@dreamlandresort.com
I love that country. The Joshua trees in the moonlight remind me of an army on the march- with a little imagination- Lord of the Rings Orcs. Washouts are where my short wheel base 1997 Jeep Wrangle shines. Last time I climbed Tikaboo, my very long F250 navigated the road fine (I'm sure the big washout happened since then. Very wise to drive conservatively and not take chances alone in the back country.
Jeep Wrangler is the way to go for that sort of stuff. I'll have to get one when I grow up... 😀 The Tahoe is too heavy and has a tendency to slide sideways even in 4 low. Full size F-250, not a chance! The day I took the video there was actually a pickup truck parked right by the wash out. Utah plates I think.
@ absolutely, I’m 45 now and I was lucky enough to have a 14.4 baud back then haha. The channel should grow as it hit my algorithm, I hope it does because the footage on this channel and your site is incredible. What’s weird to me is the pics on the site look so basic. Like a bunch of old hangers and frumpy looking buildings. I know this is conspiracy but I wonder if they are just fake buildings (or some of them) and there is an actual facility below where they do research and dev for the planes. Just looks so simple and basic for such a top secret place.
@@GRINGOf10 Thank you! Many of the buildings and hangars at Groom are decades old. They may look basic, but what is happening inside is anything but. With a new hangar being built every two years on average there is, in my opinion, no need for an underground facility.
Great! Simple little video. Nice to be able to see this from my first person perspective. Given that that shortcut was significantly improved to what you experienced in the past, perhaps the other main road was also improved and the shortcut was no longer necessary? Do the monsoon rains make it up there? I know here, even if they do improve a road, the monsoons can destroy them every single year choir that they be regraded again and again and again
Thanks! The "old" main road is still in the same shape it was in many years ago. It is ok up to the Desert Lake intersection and then has some sandy and washed out spots because it follows a wash. I don't think that part is maintained any more. And yes, monsoon season in late summer always messes up the roads here as well.
Wow, it is washed out worse than any time I went there. The one time that I got stopped by a wash in a mid/full size rental car, it was probably where you stopped, or one of the two earlier places. Somewhere I have the coordinates on one or another GPS of mine. But the two times I climbed it, (probably both between 2006-2010) I had rented SUVs and had no problems getting to my favorite parking spot not too far below the tree that fell across the trail and now Jeeps have made a little detour around. I never took the Medsger Pass shortcut, and never had trouble on that section of the main road.
Na, wenn Du mich so nett fragst mache ich das gerne. 😀 Übrigens: Die großen TH-camr können ihre Videos zweisprachig machen, aber man muss da mehr Abos haben. Also, macht bitte kräftig Werbung für meinen Kanal... 😀
@@SpiritLight777 LOL! Na klasse, nur nicht das FBI! 🤣Nun muss ich nur noch die Zeit haben alle meine Ideen umzusetzen. Dauert etwas, aber ich bin dran. Lernkurve und so!
I'll never understand why people buy trucks and suvs to do this. I have a truck for truck stuff a subaru for this stuff and a car for the family and long trips. Anyways thanks for posting
A Jeep with a mild lift would be perfect for this. You are right, trucks and large SUVs have too long a wheel base for washed out sections like the one near the end of the video.
Thanks, looking forward to the Tikaboo hike vid

1st turn, so unnoticable
Not sure I am following. The turns should be easier to find with the coordinates in the description above.
@@Dreamland-Resort correction: from the lens of average person not using your coords.
Moin aus Deutschland
Are those roads maintained by the Nevada State?
They are maintained by the county (Lincoln) and/or the rancher who has cattle in Badger Valley.
