Just finished installing a new solar watch battery in my Casio MTG 1000 (just like in the video). Followed the instructions step by step. This was the best DIY video that I have ever seen. Saved money and saved one more watch from going into the land fill.

Thanks for posting, the only thing I would add is to lubricate the case gasket otherwise this watch has lost its water resistance. Thx....JM

Thanks for video. I ordered my battery from you guys and watch is running great again. Also I have to say I'm impressed with how quickly I got it. Within a couple hours of ordering I had confirmation it shipped, and two days later it's here. Price was also the lowest I found. All around great experience. Thanks again

Gotta thank you for this video! Was able to replace the battery in my watch. Although I had problems with the machine screws on the back plate where the heads stripped and need ground off to remove hat plate….everything else fell into place. I’ve owned this watch for way over 10 years and maybe a lot longer…I lost count and just now requires a battery replacement. What a watch! So glad to have on the wrist again and it’ll probably outlast me!
    Thanks to your review!!

Do NOT EVER have a battery change done by the "town battery change boutique" in a watch that cost more than $10 new. They damage and destroy more watches than you could ever imagine.

You can open the battery latch with a toothpick faster and causing no damage at all. It fits perfectly to that latch hole and since it's wood, it won't damage this delicate metal part. When closing it back, it's enough to just push the battery and latch downwards gently and it will click. No need to use tweezers since that can stretch it and bend other way.

Excellent video. Even though it doesn't cover my specific movement, a 3179, it uses the same rechargeable cell and now I have an idea of what to expect once I have the back off, particularly with the springs, even though things might be arranged a bit differently. I've don't many battery changes, including in a number of Seiko 8F32 movement family perpetuals, which is anything but straightforward. Should be no problem doing one of these now that I know more about the springs in them.

Excellent tutorial video. Can I ask, when doing the battery replacement mysrlf. How does this affect the watches 200m water resistance. You hear so many stories about casio sealing their water in a vacuum or a pressure chamber. Replacing the battery myself is something I've avoided doing for fear of ruinning the seal.

I opened the back by just unscrewing the 4 screws on the back but had the wrong battery all 3 springs were in their regular place. I just wonder if i might've bent the spring in the bottom right side when i placed everything back in. It didn't feel like I did,but who knows. In your opinion do you think I ruined the watch by doing it that way? I still need to order a battery and replace it. Just wanted the thoughts of a professional. Thanks in advance.

I just replaced the battery on my eleven year-old Casio Pathfinder PAW1500T-7V. Apparently I did everything correctly because the watch sprang to life after I installed the battery. It must have had enough of a charge when shipped after all. It reached the H-symbol indicating a full charge very quickly; inside of two hours.

Would this be the same procdure for Casio GW9200 Riseman? Also, dont you need to change the rubber gasket o-ring and add some silicon grease to it for waterproof and presure test?

    • @Sparks52
      @Sparks52 6 ปีที่แล้ว

If the gasket and back are undamaged the gasket can easily be reused. There's not much need for silicone grease on it unless you put it into a parts washer or scrubbed it with detergent ;-) The manner in which these watch backs seal is by the pressure placed on them. The deeper you go, the more pressure there is on the back, pushing it against the gasket and making the seal tighter. This is not like having to deal with gaskets on screw down backs that are removed and replaced using a case wrench, which inherently wears on the gasket, sometimes damaging them getting the back off because you're turning the back rim against a gasket that isn't turning with it. The purpose of greasing those gaskets has little to do with making them seal better and everything to do with lubricating it so that the back turning against it won't rip it apart.

At step 8 (6:48) you need to use a needle to open the latch on other models similar to this one. Between the two parts in the video where he uses the tweezer, you might see you need a needle instead. Tweezer are too thick to fit and pull the latch open as seen in this video.

You need to include how to line up back with alarm disc on right spring. Also line screw holes in case and the reason you backturn the screw until it drops in and very important to only snug up or screws will strip out. otherwise good.

I have an old PAG50 Pathfinder. The watch was worn, dipped in water (canoeing) regularly. Worked for about 15 years fine. The recharge capacity dropped dramatically thereafter to the point that the charge would last only about 2 days if not exposed to the sun. I eventually changed the battery. All good again.

NOTE: You have to use the one and only correct word AKKU!
The CTL1616 model is an AKKU, not a battery. And only the AKKU is RECHARGEABLE.
DL1616, CR1616 are batterys with only one charge and they are never ever rechargeable, but for a wonder, even this batteries works in all the Casio-Solar-Models. Sometimes better then the AKKU'S. ;-)
