Last time I needed my battery replaced, the guy charged me $50 USD and told me only a professional could do the job. Today, my wife & kids found your tutorial, then bought a $4 USD battery and did it ourselves in less than 5 minutes. It was easy. Your tutorial was perfectly informative. Your english was clear, correct, easy to understand, THANK YOU!

Thank you. I could not figure out how to get the battery to release. Your tutorial was excellent! FYI, to release the piece holding in the battery, if you do not have sharp pointed tweasers, you can use a stick pin to release the holding strap.

I didn't count the operations for changing the batteries in my G-Shocks, but your Video looks the same than my procedure and that feels good. You're professional! :)

Many, many thanks. I replaced the battery in my 17 year old DW-5600E tonight, when my watch didn't work with the new battery I looked here. You taught me about the AC reset - it was easy to locate and my watch is perfect again. Great tutorial!

Thanks for showing the AC reset. just did this for my TGW-10 and it worked just great. AC, all clear, never knew that! Thanks again, and your English is fine.

I had a strange anomaly with my 2548-module G Shock: it seemed to be in a coma--deep sleep, as the Casio technical support person said, but that's all she could say.
So I searched some more, wandering in despair, and resolved to look inside. Your tutorial and your calm approach gave me the confidence to try. Once there, or in the back of my mind: "Let's try a reset--the AC". Sure enough--from blank display to Japanese as-manufactured display--press "set" and I was "good as new". Thanks.

Thanks for this, it helped me change the battery on my Casio Protreck 1471. The trickiest part was getting the rubber seal ring to sit properly in its groove - it kept popping out. I set it as well as I could, then replaced the back panel. Part of the ring still protruded. I pushed this back in with a screw driver and felt it 'pop' back into place. Also, the Protreck has two batteries and two latches. The latches open on the bottom ends.

I'm glad you showed us how to service a G-Shock - they tend to be more complex than standard watches and necessitate more steps.
    Well done, sir.

Thank you very much for posting this.
I thought my Casio SGW-300H had died, all the buttons didnt seem to work, and all the icons had become visible and screen seemed to be locked..
I thought about sending it away for repair, but cost was going to nearly as much as the watch.
So took a chance on that it was just the battery...I followed your video, which is very straight forward...and now the watch is going happily.
    Thanks Again.
    :-)

Thank you for the excellent tutorial!
That tiny spring you discussed was lying horizontally under the back bezel; with high magnification I was able to discern which hole to place it in (mine has a nylon barrel) by locating the tiny mark it had made on the piezo disc.
If the past is prologue, the new battery should last ~seven years.

Thank you again. Second battery change on my gshock dw004 that I have returned to you for absolute clarity. The ac point is labelled on the inside of my watch as you said, and the contact point is like a little brass bit down inside the watch. I used a straightened steel spring to make the connection as my tweezers didn't have points. Watch is 22 years old and still going strong 😁 mind out for that tiny spring too 😁

Thank you very much for your help, i actualy as a child opend up my casio baby g watch in an atempt to change the battery losing the tiny little spring in the process... apon watching this tutorial i have discoverd my error and have created another means of making the contact where the spring should have been by using a small piece of wire that slots into the hole and doubles over at the top making the contact with the "beeping crystal" therefore fixing the problem.

when placing back the o ring seal down into the groove make 100% sure the rubber seal is in the groove they have a tendency to spring out ..I push mine down very slightly allowing the lubication grease hold it for a few seconds, untill you can clamp the back down.

My Casio dealer is also an authorized Casio Service Center. He has a air conditioned room, but there is no over-pressurized room. We are talking about 20 Bar water resistance. A slightly higher or lower air pressure won't harm as it is only a fraction of the withstand-able pressure.

Get some extremely fine conductor metal wire. I used 0.2mm [0.011"] conductor. After resetting watch place rubber backing sheet over the rear. Then put wire into the spring location. Bend wire 90 degrees so it sits flat on top of the rubber. Cut the bent end, leave 4 or 5 mm to contact the speaker ceramic. Carefully place the metal back onto the watch and test that the sound works. Buy wire in Maplin or ask an electronics friend for some. Must be fine wire to avoid steam ingress.

Most G-Shock models use a little spring that makes contact with the little piezo speaker in the back plate. Some however have a small metal piece, that have the same function. It seems that your pre-G-Shock DW-290 has a similat metal piece.

Great tutorial.Helps a lot and very descriptive. My Casio G 7710-1DR has new battery (same model number as original) and shows time with factory default. While holding module [3095] out of the case it is no problem adjusting time, alarm, stopwatch, ... , by pressing the metal connections with plastic tweezersAfter the module is inserted back into watch and outer metal back plate is put back on case and tightened with screws, then only mode button works.Checking for any mistakes, I have taken out the module many times, done a reset, and put it back again.Same problem. It seems four buttons is no longer in contact with time module. No reaction by pressing down.
    Possible help wanted.

I had this two or three times. First try one or two AC reset procedures. If it stays dead, or does strange things (EL stays on with blanc screen, strange digits in the display) take out the battery and leave the watch for several hours (I recommend about 24 hour). Then instal the battery and try again. Good chance it works flawless.
