You should actually plan an episode of Coeur d' Alene. Great upscale downtown near the Lake and Spokane River.

I’ve never been to the East Side even though I’ve lived here in WA for 25 years. All of the warnings people gave me steered me away. Because of y’all I’ll be making a drive out there soon! Great video as always and thank you for making videos like this for new Washingtonians but also us that have lived here all of our lives & were too scared to venture out! Y’all are amazing! 🙌🏾

I have lived in Seattle for over 20 years. I used to go to Spokane for work and have always thought it to be a nice city. Even though it is Washington's 2nd largest city, it still has a small town vibe. I also have lived in Sioux Falls, South Dakota for 11 years. I usually compare Sioux Falls to Rapid City as to Seattle to Spokane. Like crossing the Cascades in Washington would be like crossing the Missouri River in South Dakota.

I've lived in Spokane for over 40 years. Amidst all my travels, I always end up coming back here because of how great people treat each other compared to anywhere else. We are an accepting city that is proud to be unique in our own special way, which this video has done a good job of shining light on.
Thank you for taking the time to come experience the place we call home because the rumors about Spokane are just that, rumors.
    Cheers!

The drive over the Colombia river is spectacular and the riverfront area in Spokane is great in the summer/ they have street festivals & lots of people around. Everyone seems really friendly. My kids go to college at Gonzaga, I think although primarily white, there are lots of students from all over the world represented. Now, we crossed over into Idaho to see Lake Couer da lane, which is breathtaking, again, people were friendly, however, on our way back through the town, a group of trucks rolled through with confederate flags. I tell my boys to stay on the Washington side of the border. Thanks for the episode! LK (mixed race family)

I moved to Spokane in 2019 and I’m a black woman. So far, everyone has been super nice. There are a lot of white people but they haven’t made me feel like an outsider. I laughed my ass off at the “4 outta 5” because Spokane is too close to Idaho. Honestly, I feel like that every day, lol.

I lived in Spokane for 3 years and had black and brown friends as well as white. There is a lot to do in Spokane and I will say I ate out more and attended more events than I ever have in the 13 years I've lived in Burien, Federal Way and Olympia. You're correct about waaayyyy more reasonable prices!

Great video. It's always cool to see the perspective of people from outside of Spokane. I grew up in the Tricities area (Kennewick, Pasco, Richland) but I moved to Spokane back in 2017. And I don't regret the move. I get why people on the west side are skeptical of the east side. It's more conservative on the east side. But Spokane is progressing. It's a little city with big vibes. There are also a ton of outdoor activities to do near the city and minimal traffic.

Chelan Valley Farms is a great spot and they have wine too. Farmer's Market in Chelan is on Thursdays - Manson Farmer's Market is Wed and Sat. There is hiking around Echo Ridge and Chelan State Park. If you like historic houses and Native American/old west museums stop by the Campbell House in Brownes Addition. The museum next to it used to be called the Cheney-Cowells Museum. I think its called Northwest Museum now. Anyway, there used to be a stagecoach on exhibit that bandits robbed. They also murdered everyone on board. The blood stains of the victims never came off. It’s one of the strangest museum pieces I have ever seen. I am a 5th generation native Washingtonian. My family settled on Vashon Island, West Seattle, and the Columbia Basin. I think that is what makes me a museum freak. Love your channel. Welcome to Washington. #bringhomethesupersonics

Happy to hear you guys had a good time while you were here! If you happen to find yourselves coming back, I would strongly recommend checking out the bar/venue The Big Dipper. They always have fantastic shows going on from local artists like The Smokes, which is one of my personal favorites, to more well known groups like Powerman5000. I've been going there for over 15 years now, since I was a teen, and tickets have never been more than $10-15 at the door.

I live in Spokane and we are to close to Idaho. They have a lot of racist history including the Aryan Nations' yearly parade held on Fourth of July in downtown CDA but people seem to ignore that. A lot of people from Idaho complain about people from Washington coming to enjoy their lakes and other outdoor amenities but they commute to Washington for better wages.

Lived in Spokane my entire life. I am white, so I didn’t experience racism, but it exists. I was pretty lucky my family leans heavily to the left and welcoming diversity. I agree with those who say it gets worse the closer you get to Idaho, and also further north. Downtown is much more diverse and friendly to visitors with lots to do.
Kudos for correct pronunciations and welcome to Spokane anytime!!

Born and raised Spokane resident here. Everything negative you hear from our city is entirely due to the divide in Idaho/Washington. Idaho is 10 minutes away and littered with extreme right politics while our side tends to be more neutral but over the years I see spokane proper becoming more and more “liberal” in a sense. It’s definitely a drastic change from 10-15 years ago!

    • @renaeallen9519

I’m so sad for you Andrew, letting your views on politics dictate areas. You’re limiting yourself. Perhaps you need courage to get yourself over the boarder into Idaho. I’ve actually been to Idaho and think Coeur d’ Lane is beautiful. Lots of celebrities go there. Patty Duke lived and died there. Ellen Travolta did a lot of local plays there. Don’t let politics limit you. Have a blessed day 😊

So Spokane actually seemed more diverse than Seattle and it was not at all like how many Seattle-ites have described it to be like? That sounds about right. In contrast, Seattle always used to be a fun place to visit. Most people can't even say they want to visit Seattle anymore. Sadly, decades of destructive liberal policies, the lack of consequences for criminals, and the enabling of drug addicts, has transformed Seattle into one of the least desirable places to live in WA state. Most of my Seattle friends have either moved away already, or they are in the planning stages of moving away (and many have moved over to Spokane, the very place they used to look down upon and speak poorly of).

  • @millsandrea91

I've lived in Spokane for 25 years. I don't understand your Idaho comment. I go to Idaho all the time, and the people are great. If you haven't been some place you shouldn't be negative about it. Sandpoint is a tourist town, and Coeur D'Alene is a great little artsy town. I hang out in Idaho more than I do in Washington... I'm a woman of color, and I've never had a bad experience in Eastern Washington or Idaho. I wish now I had bought my house in Idaho instead of Washington. I've lived in Spokane since 1956. As has most of the country, the city has evolved over the years. Riverfront Park is the site of a world's fair, Expo '74, which cleaned up the downtown area. In the last couple of presidential elections, the city has actually voted blue, while the surrounding area ranges from pink to ruby red. Sandpoint and Coeur d'Alene, Idaho are known for their tourism and arts community, but the politics of the state is very right wing.
