Even though you don't like the trigger, it seems like a good carry trigger to me. Less possibilities for accidental discharge. That's important in a quick thinking self defense situation. I think a 6 lb trigger pull is perfect for self defense. Just my opinion.
@@waifusandkaijus9574 lol. The big thing is you have a trigger you can back off of if you decide that you don’t want to shoot . That’s real hard to do with a 2-3 lb trigger , especially if you have never shot under stressful conditions. Not to mention bring it up out of the holster, getting a bit excited and blowing off a round unintentionally . I’ll never understand “ this trigger is too heavy” ..well it won’t be when you are staring down an intruder or car jacker, genius .
@@NCrdwlf exactly. Well said. These are over zealous gun enthusiasts, nerding out over every detail and specification of the fire arm. Does it fire reliably? Does it perform well? Good enough. I bought mine barely used for $200 off a friend who wanted a hellcat. I’m not upset with my investment, I wanted a carry size for edc.
he can't speak loudly about any gun he dislikes... or else the company / person who let him borrow it will not let him have any more to review. He knows this. That is the problem with these guys who "review" guns that don't buy them out right. They are kinda "bought" into saying certain things even before the review begins.
@@Boobtube. I'm quite familiar with how gun reviews go. Here's a perspective for you: just because the reviewer does or does not like aging doesn't mean it's a good or bad gun. It just means it fits or doesn't fit their personal taste.
I own Berettas and believe that they are among the best available but I dont understand why anyone would produce a new micro pistol with a standard 6 shot mag in todays micro 12 shot world.
everything is a pro/con. weight, width and overall dimensions still come into play. the sig p238/9238 are still very popular in the micro pistol market for these reasons.
@@Mike-dm5ut Are you just saying it’s “very popular” or do you have access to statistics that say they are? Several gun stores in my area have both or one of those in stock and they haven’t moved in close to 5 months.
Maybe as a quick cash grab while they try to figure out how to make a microcompact without infringing on patents owned by other gun manufacturers (that even Taurus figured out how to do). I worked at Scheels for the past 2 summers before I graduated and the tiny single stacks sells much more in general (M&P Shield, Ruger LC9s/Pro, Ruger EC9, Glock 43, crappy SCCYs, Kahr CM9/PM9, FN 503, original APX Carry, ect) than the microcompacts simply because of the price. To gun enthusiasts like us we'll obviously gravitate towards higher capacity in the same size and pay for that, but there are many new gun owners who just want a tiny pistol for conceal carry or they're arming multiple people ($300 vs $500-650). Now that people are used to Covid and aren't panic buying as much, it seems like such a random time for Beretta to release this though.
They are clearly targeting old shield with size and texture however they still done a round at same size.. but even in today’s age I’m rocking a single star shield. With mag guts springs and different baseplates I’ve had a 10+1 single stack way before these half stack modern guns like the 365 came to market.. most of these are too small.. the shields are just right and so is this but it’s down a round before modifications.. not a big deal at the end of the day.. but you are right.. why are we going back 10 years in tech instead of upgrading to 2yo tech? Makes no sense to introduce this now..
Beretta is the oldest privately held company of any kind in the western hemisphere. Maker of the worlds best competition shotguns including better than Perazzi, and very competitive pistols.
I like Beretta but I love CZ. They just have a better catalog top to bottom. As far as this Beretta goes - they screwed up by making a single stack but that could possibly be overlooked had the trigger not been so horrendously bad.
It isn't anywhere close to being the oldest private company my dude lmao It's the oldest firearm company, but it's not even the oldest private Italian company haha
My wife got the full size APX when it first came out. A few thousand rounds later with a competition spring installed and is a tack driver. She goes to the range with friends and tried Glocks, S&W, Sig and loves her Beretta.
I've owned beretta guns for a long time I own two PX4 STORMS 9MM COMPACT 17+1 and the PX4 45 LOVE THEM BOTH .... compact is my favorite. Tiny comfortable in my hand and high capacity. This new a1 looks really nice.
Thank you for an excellent review. I must say that you are the best gun reviewer on you tube there is . Very precise , to the point , and no BS. Much appreciated.
People tend to underestimate single stacks. They're very easy to carry very comfortable, and i've heard that in like 95% of defensive firearm incidents the defender doesn't fire more than five shots anyway
I heard the opposite, people tend to unload the whole mag in about 15 seconds, especially when in tunnel vision. It should be up to the level of training, but as I've SEEN sometimes 5 shots might not even take down one opponent considering the adrenalin and the power needed to effectively neutralize the threat.
These days I have put my double stacks into service as home defense guns. I’m only carrying a single stack, either my Shield 9 or XDs 45. I prefer the thin gun and the thin magazine in my pocket. I don’t need more than that to get out of trouble.
@@LucasSanfelicewe can take that mindset and take it places like “i need a fucking tank” cause “this could happen”. The reality is unless ur in a gang or are a involved in organized crime you wont need more then a few shots. Why would a group of people come after you? And if a group of robbers and theifs came they would back away immediately after seeing a gun. They pick on easy targets
I bought this very pistol a few months ago. I took ot to the range once. The front sight fell off on maybe the third mag. I did find it and the range officer pulled it back in with his brass thief squeegee. I bought this gun because it was dirt cheap after rebate. It is what it is. Never will be my primary. Back up only. A bit snappy and the trigger is not good. I have 2 Taurus G2Cs that have similar triggers and they are under car seats for a reason. It does conceal well and goes bang reliably. 8 and 6 round mags trail the rest of the industry and mags are impossible to find.
Yep. Plastic optics ready striker guns .they work. Most of them. Meh..demand drives supply . The majority of the market is easy to please. Hunt the good ones down for a bargain..& pump the brakes on election year.Any time gouging & any time a whiff of fear based sales might be on the midnight breeze . I don’t do too many gunfights anymore, soo…ya know. Takem easy.
As always, an Excellent Presentation👍 To the nit pickers: If it's offered Single stack, folks complain it's not Double stack. Double stack? then folks complain it's not thinner Single stack. Think weight for you carrier's. If it's 7 round, complain it's not 9, 10, 11 round. If it's smooth without side levers, slide grip serations or safetie paddles like CZ 10 Mini, complain for bumps, serations, gas brake pedals making it wider. Think smooth no snag pocket sock carry. My point?, Every pistol is beautiful to the user. One design doesn't thrill everyone. Be SAFE ⚠️and not stupid.👍🍺🇺🇲
Of course. Everyone has their own personal preference. That's why these kind of videos are important. To help someone make a decision or know what to look for before they invest their hard earned money.
You bought it that cheap because no one is buying them, are old stock, and have problems. You may not have problems now shooting , but will eventually.
Own one, great gun! I would say one of the best ergonomics for such a small handgun! Perfectly lies in the hand and easily can be fired with one hand. I liked it more than Glock 43, Walther PPS m2 or Sig Sauer P365X.
Just bought one from PSA. $229 with $50 rebate. Single stack? Yes. 6/8 shots based on magazine. Shot it last week. Shot trash ammo to very good ammo. It ate everything I fed it. I love Berettas. This is a nice pistol. I would prefer a double stack, but for the price and the quality, it’s a nice small pistol.
When Beretta brings a ccw double stack 12 rounds of .380acp. or 9mm. that comes with an optic or is optics ready, has co-witness tritium green fiber optic front and rear night sights, and accessories rail, aggressive stippling, and comes with 3 12 round mags I'll be impressed. Thus far they are not trend setters, but followers. And they are not priced to compete. Try giving us an actual deal worth considering.
Are you serious? Bro, Beretta M9 service pistol ring a bell? Over 2 decades of combat service all over the world, and Beretta was the first firearm manufacturer back in 1529. But yes, I agree. In a world of 10 round micro pistols with tritium sights, this gun is pathetic.
I purchased mine about a year ago. Trigger was initially terrible but after about 500 rounds, the trigger smooths out considerably. This is an excellent carry pistol but obtaining red dot plates is a pain; you have to order them separately from Beretta. This gun can be purchased for as low as $200.00 so it’s budget friendly. I’ve only had one failure to eject in 1000 rounds. I recommend this pistol despite its initial rough trigger and low capacity.
I picked up one of these today because my Glock 19 was feeling too bulky and I wanted something way slimmer. Tbh, I'm not crazy about the capacity but it's a neat little gun. I like it.
I have the original APX Carry OD. It's a great little shooter for what it is. (I carry mine as a backup.) I do like the changes with the new A1. Especially the new take-down lever and the more-traditional slide serrations.
I've considered this pistol for quite some time. Right now, there's a 50.00 rebate and the prices have been dropped, making them a less than 200.00 pistol. This pistol is a no frills, CCW EDC, that is everything I need. Having a single stack capacity is plenty. I don't need lights, red dots... iron sights are just fine, especially when most self defense shootings occur at 5-7 yards. This pistol is small and thin, perfect for people who find larger, thicker pistols too bulky and uncomfortable for AIWB carry. It's closest competitor would be the S&W Shield single stack. The only drawback is the rear sight being part of the optic plate and non adjustable.
16,000 rounds through my Nano and still loving the Heck out of this fine, extremely well built firearm. I will have to get the new A1. Man these guns are so mild. Like the new takedown and the serrations. Bravo to Beretta! I have a number of he newer Micro's but have yet to see anything beat the Nano and the Carry. Glad to see Beretta kept the Single stack. I am not a fan now of any of my double stacks for a Micro. Fantastic job Beretta!
16k rounds? Brother, I'm all about training with your carry piece but 16k is bordering abuse. You're past the point that parts will start wearing out and may fail in the event of a defensive situation. Also, why would you intentionally choose a single stack when you can get a double stack in the same size gun? That makes zero sense. Could you give me a list of the micros you have that don't beat this Beretta? I'm curious
@@dilldowschwagginz2674 First of all I bought the gun well before the double stacks even came out. For your information, the Nano came out in 2012. That is NOT a lot of ammo for a gun enthusiast that goes to the range and trains and practice diligently, which I do each week. The gun has Not been abused. It is designed to shoot that much and much more. Break the gun down, for god sake. It is built like a tank, almost over built. These guns will go as long as any Glock etc. And just purchased the A1 Carry and expect it to go on for years with thousands of ammo. How often do you shoot? Once a year?
Another great review! It's hard for a Glock clone to be better than a Glock. The original APX slide design made it unique. Without getting into the condition 1 (un)safe action debate, an improvement on Glock would be loaded chamber indication, or striker plunger protrusion. Beretta seems to be a answering questions no one is asking, and avoiding real improvement.
Just picked one of these up, 399 from Davidson's, and a $100 REBATE IN EFFECT!!!!!! One of the best values in carry guns available EVER! GO GET ONE NOW
Maybe it wouldn't meet the needs of many as their everyday carry but would make an excellent backup. Would easily fit in any fannypack, purse or ankle holster.
It's a nice pistol. It'd be more competitive if it were double stack especially at that price because it's affordable. I can't think that this pistol would be any thinner than my Kel-Tec P11. I've carried my P11 since buying it in the early 90's. When you have something that works really well, it's hard to switch.
@@bluesoverlord man you telling the truth...that p11...is a good carry gun...that p11 started all this compact/micro...but ppl don't pay respect to that old p11...i had a green one
Feel most comfortable carrying the Sig P250. After learning how to stage the trigger, it's very easy to get fast accurate shots. Never felt confident carrying a striker fired handgun.
When I watched this I had a Springfield Hellcat on my hip. I took it out to compare. Its almost identical in every way - the colors, the grip stippling, trigger, the size and weight, optics ready etc. Except for the double stack on the Hellcat it seems almost identical. I like both of them but give the advantage to the Hellcat.
Bought one a few months ago and had problems going into battery after racking the slide out of the box. Recommend the P365 or S&W Sheild Plus over the APX.
Oh my word, first time ever since I subscribed to you channel I've watched it within 40 minutes of it being uploaded. Yippee. My daughter's favourite gun channel
Long story short, my new A1 Carry slide lock would engage pretty much every time I fired. With the help of a gun smith, we took the weapon apart and found that the slide lock spring was there, but the spring was so compressed it was unable to function like a spring. Reaching out to Beretta support.
Actually, it IS. This A1 is just a Nano gen 2 or gen 3 depends on how you'd differentiate them. The original APX Carry is just the same Nano internally, dressed to look like an APX (with external slide stop added). This time around, for the A1 version, they ditched the APX washboard slide serrations (which doesn't work well anyway), added Shield footprint optic cut, and changed the take down button so now you can turn it by hand, no tools needed. That's it :)
I like this gun . I think that too many people are caught up in the high capacity trend. If you cant stop a threat with 7 rounds, then you probably are in too deep... reminds me of the nano .
Ive never been in a firefight, but I feel like too much ammo would be better than not enough. And Im not gonna kit out like Im in Fallujah with extra mags all over my body. That said, my edc only has 11 rounds. The g43x with a 15 round mag has been on my mind for a while, but looking at competitors.
Yeah but why not have the additional firepower if needed? Especially when you can get it in a gun that's the same size? I have a rotation of carry pieces and ALL of them have at least 12 round capacity. Have the 365XL on me right now and I'd take it over this Beretta every day of the week
@@dilldowschwagginz2674 thats great .. carry whatever you want. I also regularly carry a smith and wesson 4" 357 magnum ,6 shot ,and i am not worried about " not enuff ammo"......
It's a modular pistol so my understanding is that if Beretta comes out with a different frame you can house more rounds or even you can swap it out and put it into a full size 9 mm or subcompact single stack is fine it's like you said you can't stop the threat with seven rounds then you probably are in too deep

Which show just how good these pistols really are. Basically a gun that has more than proven itself over time. And one of the best built firearms out there. Just a very solid, almost to the point of Over built guns out there. Bravo to Beretta. Keep up the great work. Love the Nano and Carry!
Berettas are good guns. Apx full size is a killer deal on a US military runner up gun. Like the slide a lot personally .surplus berettas are a terrific thing too.
As soon as it starts we already know you're going to like it. I'd like to see a critical review or hear about something you dont like and why. It helps people think more critically about their choice of firearms, all feelings aside. Reminder: its ok if someone doesn't particularly like your favorite gun as long as it works for you. No need to take offense and get butthurt
I say right up front that I don't like the trigger nor do I understand why it's a single stack. Everything I stated in the review is honestly my take on the pistol. Most importantly, it's not necessarily what my personal preferences are.... that would make a bias review. If all I reviewed were the guns I carry or use for home defense, there would be a lot less gun reviews on the channel. There are a lot of choices and that's because people have different preferences. It's a disservice for a reviewer to go on and on about little things they personally don't like that aren't real issues or flaws. Reliability, durability and accuracy.... that's it in a nutshell. The first time I shot a Beretta 92, I hated it because I was a 1911 guy. Now I love them. For me to go on and on about why I don't like something can change. Once you handle hundreds of guns on a daily basis, you understand that what I think may change and while some will hate this gun, others will absolutely love it. Dude, I've been on TH-cam for 13 years and if I got butthurt over a comment, I wouldn't have an a$$! lol! My advise to you is don't come here with preconceived notions.

It would be interesting to see more stuff you dont like overall even if viewers may get butthurt and give you a thumbs down, ultimately hurting your channel or image to butthurt viewers. Being a content creator, I dont need to tell you about how sensitive gun people can be. Anyway, be good be safe.
Managed to find one randomly at a local store today, I know it’s still new so was surprised they had one. The grip texturing on the beretta is phenomenal and it’s super thin. I do have to agree on the round count, would’ve bought it right there but wanted to see reviews first. Thanks for the precise review, love beretta but I’m still unsure about this one.
The only reason I am even considering one is the $100 rebate that should end real soon. Seen them as low as $150 after rebate. For that damn cheap if it sucks it sucks.
Still waiting for a double stack close to the same specs of a Kahr PM9. This one is close, if they actually make a double stack version I'll be interested
@What's Up? P365 is a half inch longer than the PM9. When I switched from the P9 to the PM9, it made a significant difference in comfort while driving. That half inch matters
Man, I love this gun. Love the Trigger, breaks in well. Have no idea why you do not like it for EDC. This trigger is Smooth, deliberate. Too much of this internet nonsense of having a light short trigger with a short reset. For gosh sake do no even try and shoot a revolver if that is the way you feel. This gun is twice the quality of my 365. Shoots better as well. These guns are solid. The serrations are the best I have seen. One of the best deals in the Gun World And please get over the need for more ammo in a carry gun. Lol, 7 rounds or 8 rounds is more than enough. This is real life, not the internet nonsense.
Too bad I cannot show you pictures on this page. I have dozens including all the parts broken down piece by piece. Fanboy yes, sorry do not work for Beretta.
I can tell you why they pulled this out over a true micro like the 365 or shield plus: they’re just slow to the curve. They always have been. Beretta was one of the late comers to the polymer double stacks as well.
I have only run about 100 rounds through mine. I like the feel of the pistol. The grip makes the gun part of your hand. But, I must agree about the trigger. After 100 rounds, my finger was sore. That doesn't happen with my .45 S&P Shield. Hopefully it will break in, or I may have to adjust my shooting style.
I own two nanos, they shoot great, and I have no complaints. I don’t see a reason to ‘upgrade’ to this model just for the lower bore axis, redesigned grip and optics capability. If it were double stack that would probably push me over. But with a single stack, what’s the point?
@@NoTimeForThatNow I have owned the Nano, the APX carry and the APX carry A1. Which have you owned? There are pretty significant changes in the A1 over the older APX carry. The Nano was a honest prototype/mistake and was quickly corrected by Beretta. The APX carry suffered from not going into battery and light strikes. Very well known issues from multiple reports. The A1 addressed the issues and are a bit different in operation internally along with a striker safety/firing pin redesign. If what you have works then continue on. If you want the better gun over all, get the A1. It's not a perfect gun, it's just the better one of the 3 versions.
@@thelawonguns5217 I have no use for a red dot on something as small as the Nano. Defeats my purpose for it. Everything works on my two, and they’ve been very reliable. If I didn’t already have these and needed something that size, Id consider the APX A1. But as it is, there’s no point. I don’t buy things to have the ‘newest’ or an incremental upgrade. The market is good right now for trading, so if you sold your old guns as you upgraded, and are pleased at the end, good going.
@@NoTimeForThatNow Yes, I did sell my other Beretta's. And I do agree about a red dot on a "Pocket gun" I'd never put one on it. I like to carry whatever suits the day or dress attire. For work, the NAA pocket 22 mag, for general EDC it's either the LCP Max, the LCP, sometimes the APX Carry A1, and rarely my P365XL. If I ever "needed" a bit more it's the Beretta 92X compact. If I "needed" even more it is my Arex Delta gen2 L. That gun is super light and slim. And then if I've simply lost my mind and "need" the most firepower, for my casual stroll around the park it's my XDM compact 10mm. 😄
Great review brother. I bought one for $259 I couldn’t say no for the price, after the rebate I only have $159. I got all the sig,s&w,hellcat,Taurus gx4,g43&48 in that size. so I’m not worried about the capacity. It’ll be a great little backup for $159.
I own a old 92 that I bought 30+ years ago, I've stopped logging my rounds about 5-6 years ago at that time it had 50+k rounds throught it, when the APX came out I decided to buy it, well within the first mag it blew the exstractor,. Being under warranty and having a warranty repair 40 minutes away I took it there. Picked it up about 10 days later then to the range, within the first mag it did it again, Finally after 3 times it's fixed and running well. However I don't trust it enough to carry. PS, I only run new brass ammo and brands that's been around for years.
The problem you’ll have with reloading these under stressful condition is that your hand will clutch the gun and the mag with your pinky. Once you press the ejector button when clutching the gun with your hand under stress, the mag will not eject as your holding right to it and pinky is pressing on the mag. That’s it. It’s same capacity as a revolver pretty much at this point.
thank God there are still people with common sense. I swear some people would put an RMR, a light, an IR illuminator, and BUIS on a Derringer and carry it appendix if they could.
@@jwilsonhandmadeknives2760 I don't even like attachments to a handgun as nothing beats good old training with a weapon. It's like people are trying to compensate their poor shooting skills by having so many attachments to a pistol.
I snagged this pistol because it was a bargain. I love the grip and I don't mind at all that it's only an 8+1 magazine. It is what it is, which is why I bought it and Beretta is a trusted firearm brand. Everything about it is great but the only thing that I am disappointed in is that there is not rail on the barrel for a laser sight. I know it has an optics plate on top, which is great, but they really could have added the rails for the laser on the barrel and it would have been perfect.
I appreciate your reviews. Please keep them coming! Re: this gun: I think the Kimber R7 Mako, the Shield Plus, and the Sig P365 and a few others are much better options.
@@LIONTAMER3D Funny u should say that since when u use the proper ammo as the manual states, my kimber micro 9’s are awesome, like an extension of my hand, very accurate, very low recoil and I have never had a jam or misfire and so easy to carry in a pocket or on your hip. My most favorite EDC to carry !!!
Thanks for the review Sootch. I started watching your reviews about a year ago and enjoy the information you share. Even though you are a Glock fanboy lol.
I think the plan here is to release the single stack first as a proving ground and then release a double stack soon. A lot of the new magazines come from Italy too so why would Beretta not use them?
thanks...BUT i have Walther pps classic......it be thin...and it is still IN.And paid for.got it for $275 new in box with 2 mags 5 years ago.If i what Beretta hi cap,i getout my FDE PX4 compact=15/17 9mm if giggle goodness!!
It's not just the extra thinnes It's carrying the extra weight of the additional ammunition. Some of these semi-double stacks are good but when you pack in extra extra ammo in the mag your concealed carry get on the heavier side. Carry an extra mag in another pocket. When you are wearing shorts and a t-shirt weight matters.
I really want to like this gun but I’ve had a nano (jammed) and I had one of these when it came out and it was unreliable as well. Thanks for the review I love the look of this gun.
@@aaronsherwood8348 I agree 100% I wanted to like them but after buy grip frame sights and mags for nano and apx carry (nano with new face) they both would jam/double feed/failure to eject, it would happen ever few mags and couldn’t trust my life to something that flakey.
I had same problem but polished ramp/chamber with Dremel, changed extractor, and worked with it for quite a while. Also, requires a really firm grip. Now it’s as reliable as Shield/Glock. It’s just not a “shoot right out of the box gun”. Similar to Kahr in that regard.
@@benb5960 that’s nice u got it working, I’m good with the grip, I can control and shoot 44 mag snub and and small semi auto with small grip. It’s a shame you had todo all that to make it work good, if it was 100% I’d still have them both and probably carry it still today for deep carry or backup.
I tried so hard to justify having this as my edc, but it’s just so damn uncomfortable in my hands and the ergonomics seem off to me. I love beretta so I was pushing it and had it in my cart multiple times. I’m glad I didn’t though. I need beretta to come out with a serious micro compact contender to all the other stuff out there.
Right on. I like Beretta too (I'm a big fan of higher end Euro guns) but this one is a no go. The CZ P10M is the only single stack micro 9 I'd spend my money on
Firearms in general have been in a cul de sac for decades. Short of Lazer or some other revolutionary technology, we're just going to see fads coming and going masquerading as innovation for the foreseeable future.
In a gun fight an average of 3 bullets are shot does one need more than 6? I would say absolutely. I would not want to be left with a 6+1 and my life depending on more rounds. The APX A1 looks like a really nice EDC, just wish it at at least 10 rounds.
I certainly don't trust my life to questionable "averages". I agree - it's better to have it (more ammo) and not need it, than to need it and not have it.
A LOT of people, if not most, don't care about capacity. Honestly, adding more rounds has become a way to sell guns to "gun guys," but those people don't realize that probably the majority of other people don't care. Singlr stack pistols like this are extremely affordable and stlll carry as many rounds as you will need. I still have my original Shield and feel no need to upgrade. Guns like this one are still well suited for their intended purpose.
Sootch00…..Thank you for the review. Being able to carry allay long and not feel it, is very important for a good CCW firearm. If you compare it to the Shield 9, how long did it take S&W to come out with their 9Plus that holds more than 8 rounds. At least the Beretta is already optics carry ready.
I think it would be good to start showing how the magazines eject with the slide back. They won't "throw" like that without the spring pressure against the underside of the slide, so I'm always curious how that ends up.
See the targets picture-in-picture and know the actual distances. A lot of content creators don't really want you to see how they shoot - or don't shoot.
@@greatcornholio5541 Junk? Not really man. I owned a Nano years ago and that trigger was real bad. This is the A1 version of the APX carry. Not the same as the APX that palmetto had on sale for $300.
There is a lot that could be said about this advanced pistol. It is designed and manufactured by the oldest gun manufacturer still in existence that can stand behind it's product. It offers a lot of value for the current final cost of purchase with features that include one of the shortest micro compact 9mm pistols currently available, 2 magazines with an extended 8 round and a pinky extension and base plate for the 6 round, optics ready, optics red dot mounting plate of buyers choice upon registration, hammer forged rifling barrel for better accuracy and longer life, modular chassis for interchanging current and future grip frame options and facilitates gunsmithing as well as owner self-service, the side grip panels feel great and are well designed, the front and rear needle point texture is great to get a good grip on to get a good grip, reliable and easy to conceal carry for personal self defense in 9mm. The cons are it does not offer a lifetime warranty, only a three year warranty. The overall length is 5.8 inches, not 5.64 inches. The slide is 5.64 inches and 1 inch wide, not 0.9 inch. The owners manual specifications page reads the total length is 5.8 inches and the width is one inch. The slide is not flush with the grip frame beavertail. The site radius is shorter. The front white dot site is not a night site and should at least be florescent if not tritium. The front and rear needle point texture is too uncomfortable out of the box for practicing at the range without a rubber grip or grip tape added. The trigger is too narrow, uncomfortable to pull after practicing at range and may cause a finger blister. The trigger needs to be wider and smoother. The reset is improved, but could be shorter to compete with others high quality micro compact 9mm pistols. Overall, thumbs-up to this advanced pistol as one of the best in it class that offers a lot of value in a very competitive market.
After visiting numerous gun stores recently, I’ve never seen this model in stock or on display. I see plenty of P365s, Hellcats, Rugers, and Walthers that are micro compacts. Is this a high demand micro compact or nobody wants it?
Beretta miss the mark with this gun! The ruger max 9 is 11+1, hellcat is 13+1, P365XL is 12+1. Even the Taurus has a high capacity G4 with 11 rounds!!! This is nothing else but a Beret Nano with a modular frame!
@@WillPrimo they still miss the mark. I rather paid the 100 extra and get something with more capacity. I haven’t checked the prices but, I am willing the Ruger Max or the Taurus are not 100 more. And if it is the Ruger is optic ready so what’s your point?
@@WillPrimo man look at just about every one else comments. The market is going for higher capacity micro guns. From a market stand point they completely missed the mark. I love Beretta but they really miss it with this one. You will see when they stop making that gun soon. You see how not many reviews about that gun on here???
Even though you don't like the trigger, it seems like a good carry trigger to me. Less possibilities for accidental discharge. That's important in a quick thinking self defense situation. I think a 6 lb trigger pull is perfect for self defense. Just my opinion.
Absolutely I’m sure that was the intention design wise.
People act like they want a shooting competition trigger on this thing, wrong gun lol.
I'm with you on that, any perceived difficulties with a heavy trigger will be mitigated by adrenaline .

I applaud the effort to speak softly about a gun that obviously didn't impress you.

I own Berettas and believe that they are among the best available but I dont understand why anyone would produce a new micro pistol with a standard 6 shot mag in todays micro 12 shot world.
It’s not new. This is a Beretta Nano with a different frame. Same mags, and same terrible trigger. So many better options for the same money.
everything is a pro/con. weight, width and overall dimensions still come into play. the sig p238/9238 are still very popular in the micro pistol market for these reasons.
Just grabbed one for $299, and the $100 Rebate puts me at $199 all in. How could I pass that up. Glad to see good reviews.

In the summer days it’s much easier to conceal a single stack than a double stack. Single stacks are still very relevant for certain situations.
The p365 is smaller than this gun amd comes with a 12 round mag, so no they are not underestimated they're just obsolete.
@@LucasSanfelicewe can take that mindset and take it places like “i need a fucking tank” cause “this could happen”.

If it's 7 round, complain it's not 9, 10, 11 round.

Just picked up one of these today and run 200 rds through it, very nice accurate gun. no complaints at all!
What about that trigger though? No complaints there? I'd suggest buying a carry gun with a decent trigger

It's hard for a Glock clone to be better than a Glock. The original APX slide design made it unique. Without getting into the condition 1 (un)safe action debate, an improvement on Glock would be loaded chamber indication, or striker plunger protrusion. Beretta seems to be a answering questions no one is asking, and avoiding real improvement.
Thanks Brother! I'm a Glock guy but nothing wrong with more choices : )

The 380 probably doesn’t kick as much since it being a shorter round. Although the new beretta doesn’t look too bad recoil wise
Long story short, my new A1 Carry slide lock would engage pretty much every time I fired. With the help of a gun smith, we took the weapon apart and found that the slide lock spring was there, but the spring was so compressed it was unable to function like a spring. Reaching out to Beretta support.
Update: Beretta mailed a slide lock spring. Very different from what was originally there. After installation, no more problems.
bravo Beretta! another beautiful piece of art.
At 6:35 it looks more like a Beretta Nano, not a Pico.
The whole APX Carry was nothing more than an updated Nano. Side, barrel, chassis and frame are interchangeable with the Nano and vice versa.

So four major changes: 1. New trigger 2. New slide serrations 3. New optic cut 4. New take down

No need to take offense and get butthurt
Money talks louder than our self defense. The "big boys" eventually learn this.
The Beretta is a much better shooter than the Kahr. A little bigger, but a really sweet shooter.
OK Beretta 😆
The point? The point is is this is the better edition of the two. That's the point.
@@thelawonguns5217 they are identical except for cosmetics from what I’ve seen. But you go ahead and buy it.
Thank you for the presentation. Bought one as a result of your review.
Well it is certainly Prettier than the first gen APX. Looks interesting.
Ya but who tf cares how it looks? Your life certainly doesn’t
I love first gen looks. Second gen looks like all other polymer pistols out there.
Great review brother. I bought one for $259 I couldn’t say no for the price, after the rebate I only have $159. I got all the sig,s&w,hellcat,Taurus gx4,g43&48 in that size. so I’m not worried about the capacity. It’ll be a great little backup for $159.
Where did you get it? Online or local?
I own a old 92 that I bought 30+ years ago, I've stopped logging my rounds about 5-6 years ago at that time it had 50+k rounds throught it, when the APX came out I decided to buy it, well within the first mag it blew the exstractor,. Being under warranty and having a warranty repair 40 minutes away I took it there. Picked it up about 10 days later then to the range, within the first mag it did it again, Finally after 3 times it's fixed and running well. However I don't trust it enough to carry. PS, I only run new brass ammo and brands that's been around for years.
The most revolutionary conceiled carry pistol since the SIGP365 the BARETTA Apx A1 GAME CHANGER
Everyone take a drink every time sootch says “one of the big things”. 😂
I'll pass on this one. Internals to close to the Original Pico.
There are a lot of big things obviously.... lol!
@@dwaynechristensen6449 pico is Beretta pocket pistol what he showed that was his daughters was a nano
@ 10:20 A gun that small doesn't need attachments. That would defeat the purpose of having a small gun.
Agreed, the point of a weapon this small is to be able to conceal it and having anything attached defeats that purpose.
thank God there are still people with common sense.
Agreed, this is dead on arrival. Would have sold loads of them in 2015-17. Not so much anymore.
@@timunderbakke8756 Amen - brother!
Which one of them cost 350$
funny you should say that since Kimber is beyond caca =/
@@LIONTAMER3D Funny u should say that since when u use the proper ammo as the manual states, my kimber micro 9’s are awesome, like an extension of my hand, very accurate, very low recoil and I have never had a jam or misfire and so easy to carry in a pocket or on your hip. My most favorite EDC to carry !!!
Thanks for the review Sootch. I started watching your reviews about a year ago and enjoy the information you share. Even though you are a Glock fanboy lol.
LOOKS. JUST. LIKE. A. BEAUTIFUL. GLOCK. #1💥🔥🇺🇸
AND. OF. COURSE. GLOCK. IS. BETTER. GUN. 🇺🇸
It literally looks like a mix between the p365 and hellcat, but they couldn’t figure out the magazine situation
Well they’re all guns so there’s that in common.
Remoinds me of the compact FN 509s a lot as well.
@@jasonmedcalf2707 look at the FN 503. Basically the same gin
just bought one i love beretta handguns i Love my nano which reminds me of this one
Just bought this pistol from palmetto state armory. $250 !!! And a $50 rebate. Incredible deal
I really want to like this gun but I’ve had a nano (jammed) and I had one of these when it came out and it was unreliable as well. Thanks for the review I love the look of this gun.
The worst carry pistol I ever owned was a nano! Haven't purchased a Beretta ever since
@@aaronsherwood8348 I agree 100% I wanted to like them but after buy grip frame sights and mags for nano and apx carry (nano with new face) they both would jam/double feed/failure to eject, it would happen ever few mags and couldn’t trust my life to something that flakey.
Just bought one today after watching your review
I tried so hard to justify having this as my edc, but it’s just so damn uncomfortable in my hands and the ergonomics seem off to me. I love beretta so I was pushing it and had it in my cart multiple times.
I’m glad I didn’t though. I need beretta to come out with a serious micro compact contender to all the other stuff out there.
Right on. I like Beretta too (I'm a big fan of higher end Euro guns) but this one is a no go. The CZ P10M is the only single stack micro 9 I'd spend my money on
I had the original for my wife she loved it. Trades the old one in and got her this same one and she loves it 🤷🏿♂️
8 and 6 round magazines in a single stack 9. Now that’s innovation.
Bleh, s&w did that yrs ago.
Exactly. Way to read the room Beretta
Firearms in general have been in a cul de sac for decades. Short of Lazer or some other revolutionary technology, we're just going to see fads coming and going masquerading as innovation for the foreseeable future.
Who says they tried to innovate? It's just a carry gun
Man it's weird seeing my hometown on the slide next to such an iconic name.
Is it too much to ask for a 92x scaled down to this size? With 10rnd mag, threaded barrel, optics cut..just the sexy design Beretta is known for.
I have enjoyed your videos for years now. Keep up the good work! I like the looks of this Beretta.
Thanks Eric! I appreciate it Brother
Thanks for clarifying "slide serrations" in the video description rather than "slide rails" in the video.
That "Pico" looks a lot like a "Nano".
Tip for easier and faster takedown: pull the trigger first, then turn the takedown lever. The slide practically jumps off
I think it would be good to start showing how the magazines eject with the slide back. They won't "throw" like that without the spring pressure against the underside of the slide, so I'm always curious how that ends up.
Go to a gun store and try one. Pretty simple.
Graham Baates tests mag eject force with the slide open, and the gun upside down, on his channel. Look for his tabletop reviews.
These are $270 right now with the rebate till end of October. Worth it for that for sure. If anything just to keep in the truck or something.
I love your videos but why don't you ever show your targets at the same time that you are shooting? I would really like to see accuracy also.
See the targets picture-in-picture and know the actual distances. A lot of content creators don't really want you to see how they shoot - or don't shoot.
@@RidersRange well a lot of viewers like to see them shoot the target lol
GREAT review! I just bought one since Beretta has a $100 rebate on this!!!!!!!!
That damn trigger pull took 2 mins..🤣
That’s why I love my Glock 36 45cal single stack 6+1. It’s slim and I think I would love that with optic
I have over 200 rounds in my A1. Trigger is much better now.
Nobody wants it / nobody knows about it
It literally just came out, takes time for guns to hit stores after an announced release.
No that’s not why lol
This is one of the few options I have being left handed thanks for the video!
Probably going to go another route.
Beretta miss the mark with this gun! The ruger max 9 is 11+1, hellcat is 13+1, P365XL is 12+1. Even the Taurus has a high capacity G4 with 11 rounds!!! This is nothing else but a Beret Nano with a modular frame!
If mag capacity is the only reason you buy a gun something is wrong
8+1 is plenty in a concealed carry. Every gun you just named is at least $100 more. The hellcat is almost $200 more.
Love how in depth your gun reviews are! Thanks for the video! I’d love to get this pistol for my wife. Perfect to stash in her purse.
Thanks for the kind words Greg!
