  • Ready for some wintery fun? Learn how to make your own, Simple DIY Snow Globe with Nana's easy tutorial! It's easier than you might think, and fun for all ages.
    FULL TUTORIAL: welcometonanas...
    A Simple DIY Snow Globe is such an easy and delightful craft! Follow these step-by-step instructions to create a glittery snow globe out of a mason jar, glue, water, and your choice of figurines.
    I just love how these cute snow globes came together, featuring some of our favorite Frozen characters, Olaf and Anna! Making a snow globe was on my grandkids top 10 craft list. They loved choosing objects to put in their jars and putting it all together.
    I loved seeing their faces when they shook their snow globes and watched the glitter fall. This is a perfect craft for a personal time with your kids or for a party. Make one for yourself or for a gift while you’re at it! You’ll love how easy this project is.
    Plus, you probably have most of the supplies already on hand:
    Glass jar- Collect a variety of sizes of jars from recycling. Clear glass works best.
    Small items that fit upright in the jar- Christmas ornament or small figurine.
    Glitter- Use a color(s) of Glitter that fits with your figurine.
    Distilled water- Distilled Water is without minerals and such that create "floaties".
    Clear glue- A clear glue like Elmer's Glue, Clear is used to thicken the water.
    Hot glue gun- This is for gluing your figures into place. A Hot glue gun glue does not dissolve in water!

    question! did the water turn a funny color after a bit because the green of the tree bled into it?

    • @WelcomeToNanas
      @WelcomeToNanas  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mine didn't. I wonder if your tree had a dye that dissolve in water?

      @@WelcomeToNanas could I use just tab water?
      Clear glue is cold silicone?

    • @WelcomeToNanas
      @WelcomeToNanas  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@teachermardossantos-lumen6648 You can use tap water but distilled guarantees there are no minerals or other things that may cloud the water. I don't know about clear glue and cold silicone- I know silicone is used as glue but my experience is only using clear silicone from a caulk gun.

    Will tinfoil work? I have trees that have wood on the bottom and if I cover it with aluminum foil or tinfoil will it stick?

    • @ShellyCarlson
      @ShellyCarlson 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      So I don’t have any experience using tinfoil with this craft. But I would think that if you wrapped the base of the tree in tinfoil well, so it is secure and doesn’t come off the tree once it’s in the water. The glue should stick to the tinfoil and then to the base of your craft. So I’m thinking it would work, but again I’ve not tried it before myself. Let me know how it goes.

    I'm about to do one of these snow globes, but I've a question: I'm going to use some basically "2d" wooden figures, should I somehow cover/protect them [and how?] before butting them in the water to prevent... I don't know, that they rot or are destroyed by the time they will stay in the water?

    • @WelcomeToNanas
      @WelcomeToNanas  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This is a great question- my figures were plastic so that was not an issue. They will be fully emerged in the water so if you are wanting this to be a long lasting item I would think it would be wise to coat them with something protective. My best advice is to ask at a hardware store. I have used Spar Varnish before- which is used to protect boats. That may be an option, but again I am not an expert.

    How much glue???

    • @WelcomeToNanas
      @WelcomeToNanas  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I didn't measure it, put in a couple good squirts from the bottle- but it was probably 2 Tablespoons in the jar and the rest water. The purpose of the glue is to make the water a bit "thicker" so that the glitter hangs in the liquid longer after you shake the snow globe.

  • @jamietan8002

    Just a few drops of glue makes the difference?

    • @WelcomeToNanas
      @WelcomeToNanas  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I added more than a few drops, a good squirt! The more glue the "thicker" the water is so the glitter takes longer to come down.

      Bought them in a discount store but that has been some time ago and I don't know if they are still available. Try searching on Amazon for "small Frozen figurines"

    • @WelcomeToNanas
      @WelcomeToNanas  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The items of clay would need to be fired in a kiln to be able to withstand sitting in water. Then they would not dissolve over time. Hope that helps!
