Awe, my mom owned a flower shop in the 80s-90s. She was famous for making those permanent flower vases. Although she had to use a product we could only buy at a particular floral wholesaler. Elmer's didn't sell clear glue back then. Of course, hers always included her signature (She added something that secretly let the world know she personally created her arrangements, bouquets, etc.) but I LOVE that the basic concept is coming back. 💜

@@misshulabuloothe1st953 She hid a special, classy, but inexpensive (fake, but higher end) pearl into the arrangement. Nothing super flashy, wouldn't distract from the overall look. The color/design was unique, provided by that wholesaler, created just for her shop. For regular customers, they enjoyed looking for it. She was very creative in how she did it.

The clear glue in the vase is a heck of a lot cheaper than resin which gives you the same effect. Never thought of using glue. Very cool. When you did your stained glass piece, I notice you used puffy paint, I lucked out and found black hot glue sticks on Amazon and I love it. I did a wine bottle similiar to what you did with just making different shapes, almost like puzzle pieces, then went in and colored it with alcohol inks. Turns out great.

Depends on the craft too! Clear Glue should be fine for things that are temporary or seldom handled, while Resin will last much longer if it is something that will be handled often (like jewelry!)
Glue will retain a softer texture while resin is much harder. Glue will yellow quicker than Resin (Resin will sometimes yellow if exposed to enough sunlight)
Glue isn't a bad tip for something fun and inexpensive- especially if prone to mistakes (Like I am! XD ) Plus Glue is a lot safer to use around pets and little ones while Resin needs to be handled in its own well-ventilated environment. I don't have human children, but I do have a couple of clingy cats who lament my isolation while I play with resin. I'd definitely try it some time!

You can also use a hot glue gun with ultra clear hot glue sticks and add small drops here and there to several petals on each flower. When the glue dries it looks like water/dew/rain drops on the flowers to make them look even more realistic. I like to tip the petal downward for a few seconds as soon as the drop of glue touches it so the glue slowly starts to move downward just enough to give each drop the appearance of movement. Its a very effective way to transform silk flowers into realistic looking live flowers just after a fresh rain. 🌼🌺😊

This did not…I repeat DID NOT work out for me 😂. My Elmer’s glue must’ve been defective. When it finally did dry (actually closer to 2 weeks), about half the glue disappeared…and not because it was clear, and the other half pulled from the sides and flower stems. When I try it again, I’ll use E6000 or B7000. Hopefully I’ll get better results with one of those.

I think this is a good idea, but only in theory. You said you have time to arrange your flowers to get them just so. But what nobody is telling us is how long does this really take to dry? Also does it turn a yellowish color as it dries? I’m just asking cos I’ve seen this method and some say they are still waiting for it to dry after a WEEK. I do enjoy your channel very much Ty for anything you might be able to clear up.

    • @nicc8230

It can take over a week also depends on humidity in air. Protect from dust. Also it may shrink as it dries add more glue.

You could also use clear hand soap/body wash.. or clear hair gel. But it won't dry and hold like the glue, you'll likely have to change it out once a year or so.
