They Were Forced To ABANDON This 1850s Neoclassical Home And Leave Everything Behind

- In this episode of Urban Exploring, I will be taking you for a tour through this grand old 1850's Neoclassical home. This beautiful home sits on a large plot of land, in a beautiful quiet location, and over the years the house has seen a couple additions and modernizations. Despite these renovations, much of the original charm and features still remain today. A note was left behind from the owners stating they were forced to leave in the summer of 2017, for reasons unknown, but whatever the reasons were forced them to leave most of their stuff behind.. Join me for a deep dive into this beautiful home!

I can't guess the story to this one. A lot of renovation went on but not quite completed judging by the downstairs kitchen. It also appears they had time to start a yard sale and then just vanished for whatever reason which I'm sure was not good.
Thanks for the tour Greg!
🤠👍
Notes:
1:08 Someone likes you Greg and it's strange the porch roof is wider than the porch.

23:15 The note:
"July 22 2017. Today I watched two trees get pulled out of the ground and part of the barn get demolished while I sat on the stump of the swing tree. It's really sad to watch everything get torn down around us while we pack up boxes."
(I couldn't make out the flip side of the note except they'd be moving in August and that they bought toothpaste.)
Haha I wonder who honked at me. It wasn't a friend, I don't think.! LOL.. I will look at that link you posted.. the rest of the note says "and get ready to move in august we dont know if we are moving the 4th of august or the 29th of july but we are seeing waht is cheaper
i found this journal book in my junk closet so i thought i would start writing in it other than that we went to the store and got toothpaste"
Thanks for being there and leaving the notes as always john!

😃👍👍
John looked the link - Sweet!
It's very cool. Thank you for sharing that John!
I was surprised they left those drums behind, not cheap to replace. The old movie posters were really cool. One of my cousins had an ice cream car that was similar to that old trike. Keep Orange Crushing It.
Yeah drums are not cheap at all it's very surprising. I'm not surprised to hear that actually lol
Thank you sir
Check my comment for the link to a short vid on the trike.
"Time crapsule" really had me laughing. Thanks for that.
Lol. I'm glad that made you laugh, if you watch some more of my stuff it probably won't be the only thing lol. Thank you for watching laughing and leaving the comment I appreciate it
I love the original house exterior. It almost reminds me of a gingerbread house with the unique masonry skill. It had some unique features. I was shocked by the beautiful antiques left outside. The young girl's note was heartbreaking. It seams as though it was a rushed move and like they probably didn't have a set destination for where they were going. I hope all turned out well for them. I found the moped extremely interesting and can't help but track it down. I have an idea that it's a Schawlben from the 50's - 60's but can't find all the features on it. I have many interest, my dad raised me while working on everything and hunting and fishing while my mother influenced me with fashion and my grandmother taught me proper manners for a lady including needle work. I can't paint to save my life. Thank you for another excellent video. Again another basement you couldn't drag me into, major props!
That moped was really really cool. I agree with you the exterior is absolutely amazing. Sad thing is is even though that she left that note, years have passed and nothing has happened. Very strange isn't it. Thank you so much for watching my videos and leaving your great comments. Sorry it took a little while to answer!
@@UncappedFilms I figured that by the video. It was from the looks of it an eviction for them. But I'm not sure how that would work in Canada with different provinces, etc. It was so much stuff. When we bought our house we offered the former owner to come anytime to finish cleaning the attic out but they never did. I've got an attic full of their kids'baby things. And I'm sentimental so I'll organize it and since it is relatively new, it will be put to use for "grandma's nursery" one day lol. But they did have the chance to get it and I'd still let them have it.
From what I can see of the moped I believe it was an awesome 1950's model. I can't find an exact match. But I actually think it had a hood over the drivers side as well as the side cart. I just saw a couple things that indicated it had a frame, especially on the side cart. If you like I can send you a pick through Insta. My dad was a spoiled only child and had a moped in the 50's. Nothing like that though.
I appreciate your responses. It's nice that you respond at all. So, no apologies. I look forward to the next video.
@@katlhp957 I appreciate that people take the time to watch and write me so I do my best to acknowledge/respond to them! It may become impossible one day but I'll do my best haha.
I think that is nice of you to give the former owners time to get their stuff. most people wouldn't.. it'd be gone week 1 lol. so kudos to you for that.
A viewer named John Shinn posted a comment with info on that, I think there was a video of the commercial for it too if I'm not mistaken. I pinned the comment.. That model is actually a 1970 or something like that!
This is such a cool place too, love being able to explore from my couch
Hey! I'm glad you watched this once and enjoyed the explore! It's nice that you're able to join me whenever you have time!
Looks good ❤ That detail on the outside. Another one that left alot behind😢 I feel bad that they couldn't take it all with them. I'm liking the cabinets in the kitchen and that view I❤ look at the fireplace😍 like that chest. Liking all the trim work. The baseboards 😍 loving those built-ins. All the windows are 😍 Look at that chest its sitting on 😍 Like seeing the growth chart😍 everything bout that front door. Loving it but the time has come to go to the next explore Greg👍✌
Hey Catherine! glad you enjoyed this one. It was really beautiful outside. That chest was very cool, a few people pointed that out.. I went back a couple months ago, that one bad room has deteriorated significantly! I'm glad you enjoyed so much about this one!! thank you!
30:18 I love these shelves omg!!
I'm glad you are enjoy this!
Excited to see this video!!
I hope you enjoyed it!
Hello Uncapped, you have another cute home video here, literally, this home looks really sweet just like a dollhouse, I can just imagine how cute it was in it's prime.
Thank you for sharing this "dollhouse". 😊
Hey Didi! It's very nice to hear from you again, I'm glad that you enjoyed this place, I really enjoyed filming it. That's a perfect name for it! Thank you so much for continuing to check out my stuff!!
@UncappedFilms You are very welcome Uncapped! Take care! 😄

Thank you Rebecca, I really appreciate that and it's nice to hear from you finally then! I hope you'll comment more and even show up at a premiere. Thank you very much and I hope you have a great night
In England it was common place to have a plumbed in basin in the bedroom in the older homes, Victorian era most certainly. I use to be a private housekeeper & I’ve seen many bedrooms containing basins, usually no toilets though, no en-suites just the basin & maybe a small cabinet or mirror above it 🙋🏻♀️🇬🇧
Hi Sally! That's very interesting to learn, I was not aware of that. Do you know why this was a thing? That's interesting to learn, thank you for watching and sharing that with me.
Too see this make my heart break, I absolutely hate seeing books left behind too rotten like all those outside. With all that outside I wonder if they were evicted! But too leave picture is so sad, something you can't get back. Just so sad.😢
Hi Pamela! I agree with you 100%, it's very sad to see someone's life Left behind outside like that. The note I found inside certainly made it sound like they had to leave urgently, but it doesn't make sense cuz the place still stands and everything is still there. Very sad indeed. Thank you so much for taking time to watch this and leave a comment I hope to hear from you again soon
29:27 resuming at this point 😂
Welcome back
Made my selection
I'm glad you found this one!
The old guitar case and drums got me. I wonder why they'd leave that behind 🤔. Great explore Greg 😍💯
Hey brother, thanks for watching. Makes it very strange to think about, doesn't it..
Great adventure
Thank you Karen! It makes me so happy to know that you enjoyed it
this place almost looks like two families could have lived in it, one in the front other in the back. like for an aging parent to still have independence yet family close, new someone who added onto their house for this, so looks like their set up. just the back kitchen cupboards have been removed yet back splash is still there. outside looks like garage sale stuff that was covered and left to the elements.
Hey sparks, thanks for watching this one. That's an interesting theory. You might be right! Those very well may have been garage sale items. I hope you have a great Christmas. Thank you for taking time to watch me
Nice find
Thank you very much Donna!
That motorcycle thing is awesome and it’s killing me that it’s just sitting outside rotting away along with that wingback chair which must have been beautiful. The transom windows around the main door of the house are so awesome. I too can’t understand why they left so much stuff behind. It’s sad the house has been so thoroughly modernized inside, not really any old original stuff except for the baseboards. I believe there may be a market for orig posters
Thank you Kathi! I actually know it's called a transom if it was vented... I didn't know it was called that if it's not. I'll never understand it either it never makes sense to me. At least they left all the original hardware on the doors which is still nice. I think they did a respectful modernization of it. And that motorcycle should not be riding away like that
Welcome to my heart , there was vacancy for one more explorer. Glad i found you. Excellent house. I dontalways need mansions. Just sing regular homes leftbehind is an adventure.
Sorry my keyboard wants to be funny tonight
Cher Anne,I'm honored and happy we found each other. I think you will enjoy many of the places I've posted. Let me know what you think
@UncappedFilms I plan on binging on older episodes to catch up. Nice to meet you as well. Look forward to more good stuff. ❤
Great I will make sure to reply when you do comment again!
Another great explore! It’s amazing some of the things that people leave behind. I got interrupted during the premiere. Sorry about that. Have a great weekend!!
Hey Jamie, I'm glad you were there, I'm even more glad you enjoyed it. You have a great weekend and we'll talk soon!
Hi Greg, the blue motorcycle is so cool, it's a shame it's sitting outside in the wind and weather. It's amazing what was left behind, especially those drums...You could see the smell in the fridge, I always find it brave to look in there.🤭 Another fantastic and interesting exploration.👏👍 Sorry I slept through the premiere.
Hi Andrea, I'm glad you made it to the video, dont be sorry! I agree about the bike, everybody has said the same thing. It's a real shame And yes those drums amaze me, they're nice drums to be forgotten like that! Thank you for enjoying this one, steer clear of that fridge!!
How sad to be forced to leave one's home for whatever reason!
Hey Jeanie, I agree!! I hope you make the premiere!
Wow, you really discovered a beauty, just sad to see abandoned. Thought in great shape, except 1 room ( 15:15 ), Read the 'for some unknown reason' was forced to leave, wonder if those developers were involved... Thank you for finding..
Thank you for watching and commenting! I really appreciate it! I'm not sure what the full reason is they were forced to leave, because it ended up untouched after. No development in the area. It's a weird one. Thank you!!
looks like they liked modern cause for an old house it had a modern feel
Hey Elizabeth. They definitely tried to modernize it in many areas, for the most part they did a good job. I enjoyed this house. I hope you did too! Thank you for watching and commenting!!
Another awesome house Greg that 3 wheeler bike was something different you have the best homes there in Canada cant wait to come back. bummer you couldnt get into the garage looked like some neat stuff in there. Some of those books labeled antiques they must of done up old furniture or something like that. Ohh all that mould reminds me of that mould place you took me to ekk. now the fridge I could imagine the smell to. Were those condoms on that dresser ohh hell no. Hey Greg dont touch that turd on the ground you dont want to end up shit fingered again He He. Love all those monster posters mate especially the dracula and frankenstein one. Another awesome explore Uncapped Films cheers brother.
Hey Werner, thank you for watching this one! Everybody has loved that bike, it is really something special! It is sad about the garage, but maybe its for the best it remains sealed! That mold doesn't compare to the place I took you to though, :D LOL you wont let me forget that incident I gather hahahah . thanks werner, you make me laugh bud.. have a good day!
Ahah yes poor Greg and his poopy finger 😂 🙈 . Watch those record covers hehe
Lololol
Man leaving them drums behind. Those are pricy. They have tried to renovate this place. I wonder what is going to become of this. Another great explore Uncapped Films. 😊😊
I know .it's crazy to think. Two nice sets. Too
Thank you as always
That house looks incredible!

Nice house. So sad they had to leave so much behind
Hey Debbie, thanks for watching. I agree it's very nice place and it's sad that they seem to have to leave but it's still standing there. There must be more to the story. I hope you have a great weekend

@@UncappedFilms
Lookin forward to that Greg!
glad to hear!@@JohnShinn1960
Why did they have to leave without their stuff
Hey Sandra. Its a really good question. The note left behind didn't say anything about why. And even though they were forced out quickly everything was still there so many years later... It's strange isn't it
Could do with out the music
Hey penny. Thanks for watching I really appreciate it. It's an acquired taste not everybody likes to same music unfortunately. I'm trying to use everything that I've created in my videos, I hope you understand and you'll see the genius behind it at some point;)

I hate looking at other people's junk I clicked on the video because I wanted to see the original structure of the house not people's garbage
Judy I appreciate you commenting and watching anyways. Usually I focus on the details of the house no matter what's inside so I hope that I did enough of that for you
