A Shocking Look At This ABANDONED Retro 1970's Luxury Home | WHERE DID THEY GO?!?!

- In this episode of Urban Exploring, I will be taking you for a tour through this gorgeous split level home, built in 1978. This home sits on a very large piece of land, in a prime location of the city. Inside, the home retains many of its original 1970's features and charm, while also seeing some renovations and modernizations over the years to keep up with the times; including a stunning hot tub sunroom. The home was eventually purchased by developers and will be demolished and replaced with multi family dwellings, and as a result, has sat abandoned for a few years, while decaying and developing some serious mold issues. Join me for a last look inside this 1970's GEM!

This one had me thinking it's an older 60's design but built in the early 70's with 70's features- (by the arched brickwork and some cabinetry but no it's 1978! 20:54).
Thanks for the tour Greg!
Stayin tuned! 👍🤠
Notes:
6:13 Those cabinets also should've been replaced on this kitchen update. A bad mismatch at my perspective.
20:10 60's looking fireplace.
23:27 Researched and found this to be called a "hoosier cabinet" for when kitchens didn't have the built in cabinetry we know of today. The dispenser on the left is a flour sifter.
Found a quite a few online but no exact match. Those selling for $250 - $2595.
Yeah it even had me thinking it was that old. So I was surprised to find out at that point the video that it was apparently built in 1978. I guess that makes sense that they still could have used those design choices to have a certain look. Possible Right? Glad you enjoyed this one and thank you for being at the premiere as usual. I have pinned this for everybody else to enjoy
The info on that cabinet is interesting John. I thought the place was older too. The fireplaces were beautiful, but didn’t look 70’s to me. The kitchen was way too dark. Were you around in the 70’s John. That was my craziest decade. So many great memories. Today I think back & thank God I lived through everything 🤷🏻♀️take care

@@JohnShinn1960 I just had my bday, 4/23/59. What month were you born?
Great explore as usual honey I love the house looks like it had been well looked after the architecture arches are beautiful and the floor's are really well looked after we don't have them unless you are lucky enough to have a Victorian house most homes hear have tiled floors which are not very nice so they are covered with carpet .
Love the veranda there so lovely to sit out with your morning coffee ☕️ and wellcom the new day can't wait for your next one your nearly to your 100 explore and numbers going up well done honey. 😘
Great job filming--I love how you walk in a room then film where you just were--we really get an idea of layout. You have a sharp eye for details! :) Love it. Thank you!
Hey gosheepie! Thank you I appreciate the kind words. I started doing that in the last bunch of videos because I think it does help people get a better idea of the flow of the house so thank you for pointing that out I'm glad you noticed. Hopefully you'll stick around for some more videos! Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment! We have a premiere tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. Eastern if you want to join us
Feels like a house one of my friends would have. DANG IT, i wish i was a 70s kid instead of living in this technology infested world, i always wondered what my house would look like if it had the 80s furniture. sorry im talking sooo much but i find these videos super cool so please make more!
Hey Richard! Thank you so much for watching and leaving the comment I really appreciate it!! I'm glad these places make you think with your imagination. Things were quite different even 20 years ago. Never apologize for talking too much! That is totally welcome here. Thank you for watching and hopefully I'll hear from you more!
that house was like a maze I would get lost living there.
Nancy, haha that's kind of funny and some places I've seen are even more confusing. Thank you for watching this one!
@@nancywhittington3535 So would I Nancy, I would HAVE TO HANG ONTO GREG, I WOULDN'T MIND THAT THOUGH!! ❤️
Beautiful I love the purple room and dresser
Hey Donna! Glad you enjoyed it. That was a pretty cool room I thought! Always nice to hear from you I hope you have a good day
This house on the outside looks a lot like the houses in a neighborhood my family and I moved into in 1972 in the Denver Metro area. Colorado Springs Co is also full of houses with the same exterior and floor plan as this house.
Another beautiful house being torn down in the name of development. I think they left the bedroom set because they split up and didn’t want reminders they were married, but the bedroom furniture was too big for the bedroom anyway. I thought the hot tub in the sunroom was very strange. I would not want a hot tub inside a house, moisture issues. The balcony was nice but it’s on a street that’s very noisy and that I mean the backyard street. I think the house may have been abandoned for at least five years by the peeling paint, ceilings coming down but back in the day. This would’ve been a nice house. I bet the owners would be sad if they could see the condition that’s in now. Great video as always.
Thank you very much for watching and commenting Kathi! That's an interesting theory maybe you're correct. I like that hot tub room, if there was a sliding door to keep it separate from the rest of the house I think the moisture issues would be non-existent. It is a shame to see the place like this and I'm sure they would be very disappointed. Probably would wipe up the tears with the millions they got for it lol. Thank you as always
Thank you Uncapped for the house tour, it was very interesting! I LOVED the hardwood floors, they were so clean and shiny, very pretty! 🤗🏘❤
Hey Didi! Thank you for joining me for the tour, glad you enjoyed this place! Hardwood floors are the absolute best!
@UncappedFilms OH wow, I know, it just seems to spruce up the place when the hardwood floors are bright and shiny, the whole place just smiles! 😁
I agree. It's a thing of beauty
@UncappedFilms It really is, I know that they say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, well yes, but, beauty is all around us too, 🪷🌸🌻🌹⚘️🌷🌼🪻🌺🪴's are beautiful, 🏡 🏠🏘's are beautiful, beauty is everywhere and in everything and everybody. 😀 👋
@didibolter9362 I totally agree!!
Another one gone 😩😩 looks good from the outside. Looks like nice floors. The archways. Big windows to leave in alot of light. too bad the cabinets in the kitchen need work 😩 but it is big enough. Like the wood trim around and baseboards. Has some nice light fixtures thru-out. Nice patio 😍 .Liking that fireplace downstairs❤. Liking that sunroom with the hot tub in it 😍 Those wall to wall bookshelves are nice. Hey copper still there 😯 Who would leave their fishing trophys behind 😢 Well Greg as usual I liked the explore but woulda liked to figure out where that water/moldy damage came from. Well there is always a next time Greg 👍 Until then ✌
Hey Catherine, this place was cool, I like that oldschool arch design they used.. That hottub room was really cool to me.. The copper probably is gone now hahah. But good point about that. I'm glad you enjoyed this one and all the cool features it had. I appreciate you very much!
I'd say, given my experience living in houses of the same vintage as the one in this video that the house started out with shag carpet. Shag carpet was what was put into all new houses in the early to mid 1970s, and perhaps the very late 1960s.
Hardwood floors have only seem to come back into vogue since 2000.
wow hey there greg nice place and falling apart from the inside and build in the late 70s that old fire place did look pretty cool i like em but my favourite kind of fire places were the open type ones you put your wood into loved them kind, pretty strange the most of the ceillings were falling down and lots of the paint work stripping away from the walls but i do love the old type polished floor boards there really nice the old type bathrooms i didnt like the basement parts looked a little bizzare for my liking but greg pretty nice explore again mate i did enjoy this video much greg cheers my friend look forward to your next explore.
Hey Peter! It is a great place, but did it ever fall into a state of disrepair eh?? I love those kinds of fireplaces as well.. and yes the basement was VERY strange, but hey, it makes for a good explore right? Thank you as always for watching and commenting!!
Nice explore Greg. It wasn't in too bad of shape until you went down to the basement(s). Thanks for the video.
Hey firefly! Thanks for watching this one I'm glad you did, the looks were very deceiving weren't they??? Thank you for leaving the comment I hope to hear from you some more!
Hoosier cabinet with a flour sifter. The metal shelf is for rolling flour for biscuits, pastry, etc.
Hey Kathy! Thank you for watching and commenting. I had never seen that before so that is really really cool to me. I hope you enjoyed the video and will check out some more
The metal container in the hoosier is for flour. Has a sifter in the bottom😊
Nice !!!
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed!!
That was great Greg. I definitely have to watch it again to see everything I missed. It was so deceiving how big it actually is. First time for everything-that bread thingy. Too bad they left it to rot. I did watch all your explores, just missing the lives. It was great talking to you. Stay safe
I'm glad you made it today, it was nice to see you! It was super cool, so go ahead re-watch :D hahah.. It was deceiving in size, and that thing is super cool, maybe the coolest thing i've seen so far doing this
I love the floors!
Hey Laurie!! They're beautiful right?? Thank you for watching and commenting! I hope you'll watch some more of my stuff!
That is a beautiful house 🏡
I agree Laurie. I am glad you enjoyed it. Thank you again for watching and commenting!
Deftly older yes awesome place kitchen too dark nice rooms , now down stairs the book case shelves are very old style nice space for sure but on other hand i would had open that section up from that old time kitchen and the wash room .That hot tub id be in that before even knew something was going on.lol. Awesome older home .id have to look at the exterior/interior below to see how it is lookin before moving in.Love your videos.
Hey Barbara! Thank you so much for the compliment and watching and commenting! I really like the hot tub so I'd be in there pretty quick too I think. I'm glad you enjoyed this place, it was a cool one to share with you!
@@UncappedFilms rightfly thankin you gettin back to me? yes using that tub pain away for a while lol.
Hot tub would be nice after a long week too! I always get back to people!
Awesome explore as always! This house kinda reminds me of my grandparents house. They had the pine floors and wood trim with that orange color to it. They also had a bakers cabinet similar to the one in the sunroom. I always assumed that was a coffee grinder, but makes sense that it’s for flour as well. The sunroom was cool as well as the stone fireplace. Great video bro!
Hey man thanks for being there. Glad you enjoyed this one! Always love when places remind you of the past I think that's very cool. I never see one of these things before and you actually have one in your life? That's cool!
@@UncappedFilms My parents actually have it now, but they are wanting to give it to me.
That flour cabinet is beautiful but why is it in the basement? That is a strange place to have it.
Hey Connie!! That thing was awesome I'd never seen anything like that before. Actually it was in the sunroom which is even weirder!!
The damping is what everything coming down is from the realstate Co. is not keeping the place kept warm ;must be they can not pay for the hydro on all the time ,It will cost to redo the whole down stairs at least 30k !
Hey Wayne! Yeah I don't think they care about the place since they're going to tear it down, but this place really deteriorated quickly compared to some of the places I've seen. Most likely a water pipe burst. Thank you so much for watching this video sir, I hope you'll check out some more and comment again!
Nice home! I have a soft spot for multi level split homes.. Not too many stairs at once and the way they're laid out. Floors were beautiful 😍 upstairs!
I really liked that old kitchen contraption downstairs, it'd be a nice fixer upper to keep.
As always, great explore, great chat!
Thank you again for a fun-filled Thursday evening 😊🤘🤘
It is a cool spot, and the more i see split level homes, the more i appreciate their design, they are pretty cool! That kitchen thing was super cool right?!! Glad you had fun, it's great you're part of the group now!!

It's a Hoosier Cabinet
Hey Sandra, I've heard that particular one is quite valuable. I never saw one before. It's pretty cool! Thanks for watching and commenting I appreciate it!
Cool house. I love it. Great video. Love the archways. They don’t build houses like they use to
Hey Amy, I agree, nothing has the character and charm that old places had anymore.. Thank you for being there as always!!
Lookin forward! 👍🤠
see you there!!
Pretty cool! Thanks
Hey Karen, thank you for checking out and leaving a comment! I hope you check out more of my content!
This place has features that say the 1960's. Always cool explores Greg, always love seeing whats next! Keep Orange Crushing It!
Thank you for being part of this tommy! I really appreciate you! And I though 60's / 70's too. The 1978 build date is odd isn't it.
I’m off to work in 20 minutes or so. I’ll try and pop in
Hey Heather! Hopefully you get a chance to pop by that would be nice
Cool video ty
Hey Donald! Thank you for watching and leaving your comment I appreciate it! I hope you watch some more of my videos

ohhh good catch, i didnt even see that at first!

Maybe animals made the ceiling come down.
Hey Donna. That definitely is a possibility!
I'm thinking must've had a flood issue at some point
It may have or maybe receiving down the Walls it didn't look like there was any water stains in a lot of the areas with mold.
Yes it's a Hoosier Cabinet, was in kitchens with flour sifter to make bread.
Hey Sharon! Thank you for watching and commenting! I never saw one or heard of one of those before that day... that is so interesting
I like what you do but I hate the intro song, please do something different with it
Hey Eva thank you for watching and commenting. I wish I could please everybody but unfortunately I can't. There's an upside to it, it's my music. I hope it won't hold you back
I think the. droppings were from a dog
Hey Wanda! It is very possible, as much as I point out turds I'm not much of an expert on what they are from lol. Thank you so much for watching and commenting and I hope you watch some more!

Yes please stop using the hell word
Hey Sandra I apologize for that
Where this place is the land is valuable. Do you know if it is getting redeveloped. Again another awesome explore. Big Hugs 😊😊
Yes it is. The property is absolutely huge too. A few acres at least. Thank you
