Get some dril/tap fluid it will drill easier and your bits will stay sharper longer. Regular oils just don’t do much.
I am pretty sure bed frame is more of a hardened steel.
Bed rails seem to be hell to drill thru i use them alot myself
Good project! I wiped out a bandsaw blade on bed frame…use a wheel now.
Bedrails will destroy blades and bits. Use heat or abrasive means. Thin pieces will snap not bend.
I live near a steel plant. The steel plant uses railroad rail as part of the mix when producing "bed rail angle". It is not the same "formula" as the "angle iron" we generally purchase at the steel yard.
Interesting, I've heard that it's a different mix but didn't know about rail metal.
Railroad iron on its own is easier to cut than bedrails.
