Fabrication 101
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 18 ธ.ค. 2019
I am a teacher, a welder, and fabricator trying to inspire the next generation to pick up the torch and build something.
I have been a welding instructor at the high school and post secondary level for the past 14 years. Before that I worked as a welder fabricator at a custom off road shop followed by a few years as a heavy equipment diesel mechanic and repair welder.
I started this channel in an effort to expand my instructional reach.
I plan to produce videos covering welding and fabrication techniques that are of interest to fabricators of every experience level.

Друг подскажи, как называется электроприбор для резки металла , ты его использовал на 16 минут 30 секунд ролика.
It's an air powered small reciprocating saw, commonly called a body saw.
Looks great glad you went with the gray looks good.
Thanks 👍
Настолько большие зажимы это сделано самостоятельно?
I'm not sure which clamps you're referring to.
@@Fabrication101 они называются еще по другому струбцины
Когда нет трубогиба, приходится много резать!
I have a bender, but it I don't have the correct radius for the square tube.
Really useful video. Thanks a lot for sharing.
Glad it was helpful!
You did an awesome job on those fenders.. I'm gonna try that on my trailer... thanks for the great video.
Thanks 👍
thought it was gonna pop when I saw that sawzall going in
Glad you kept it real if i could say i never made any dumb avoidable mistakes id be lying
Called the tire cut when you went and got it lol
I guess is to much tools and much money 💰 never end
Great idea with the flip down fender, does the tab welded on to the deck risk a puncture? Maybe if you drilled a hole in the top 8inch steel, and weld tab do bottom one so it goes through the top hole then the pin to lock in place? Great video though i will be looking into doing my own trailer!!😅🤙🤙
Haven't had any issues with the tab. It barely touches the tires on my rig since they ride up on the trailer tires a little.
It is “Sand Hollow” not Sand Hallow!
Do these make any racket going down the road?
Only on very bumpy roads. Even then, I don't think it's any louder than the ramps bouncing around under the trailer.
If you load heavy without the outriggers you get weight at the back and the resistance at the front with the truck pulling down. This can eventually bow (catback) your trailer in the middle or crack the frame.
How much did this help for loading with a forklift?
I recently picked up three roll-up shop doors, and getting the fender out of the way definitely helped. The guy running the forklift was impressed.
@@Fabrication101 I was wondering because a forklift still can only get as close as the fender when flipped. Just that extra height clearance was the difference? Good to know
Bed rails seem to be hell to drill thru i use them alot myself
saw that coming. thx for sharing.
Dude they make them on 45 deg
Good to know
Saw it coming. No pun intended.
Pun appreciated 👏
The jacks in the back are for when you put a heavy load they help prevent picking the ass end of your truck up when loading and unloading
Looks great have a great time in Sand Hollow see ya at the stampede.
Thanks!
That's the breaks!
You wouldn't happen to have all your dimensions for the entire bumper would you? I'm actually going to build this same exact thing
Nothing specific. Let me know what you're looking for and I'll send you what I can.
@@Fabrication101 the first part that you built that houses the winch would be great. Everything else after that I could figure out
Keep plugging away your going to make it see ya at the stampede.
Right to the wire, looking good!
Thanks 👍
I live near a steel plant. The steel plant uses railroad rail as part of the mix when producing "bed rail angle". It is not the same "formula" as the "angle iron" we generally purchase at the steel yard.
Interesting, I've heard that it's a different mix but didn't know about rail metal.
Looks great I’ll have to catch up with you at the stampede and check it out .
Looking forward to it.
Awesome video sir! Been thinking about this for weeks on how I'd do it and this is truly the best and easiest way. Thank you for posting.
Glad it was helpful!
Promo`SM 🙃
We’ll that’ll add some clearance looks great hope to see you at the stampede.
Got a lot to do but I plan on being there!
Outside the box thinking, NICE!
What trail was day one?
I believe it was The West Rim.
A wood stove with one of those fancy exhaust pipes that extract every ounce of heat are what we use up north. A standard box fan behind the piping will have that shop roasting. As for your joint mounts...I've always used the joint itself with a thin machinist shim on one end to tack it together. If you plan on doing this more in the future buy a 3/4 bolt center section for a Johnny joint (or aquire a used one) to use as a mockup. You can use sections of small tube to slip in the 3/4" bolt hole if you mocking up for a smaller bolt. Love the shop and the detailed fab video. Nice work buddy!
Thanks
We just built steel fenders that you can drive over. Makes fenders stronger. Can stand a blow out can stand to leave truck sitting on top if needed. I use rear jacks to lower a bit not all the way to the ground though or you won't get it back up it will be in a bind. Use it to load that way your pulling truck don't raise up in rear and cause your truck to start rolling away.
Who's not addicted to tools ? 😎👍👍 and you can make and fix stuff
Good point!
Tks for the video going to do mine the stands in the rear holds the back of the tralier is to keep from putting a load on your hitch when you load
your video is the best ,, i wish i would have seen something like that 10 yrs ago ,,i sold my trailer it was super heavy duty ,, i had to crawl out every time ,, to get out ,, daaa ,, im not worried about the tire that was cut im always in a hurry to get ur done like you ,, i would take that short cut also
Badasssssssssss
Great deal on that Mac's brake cleaner. 😊
It's good stuff!
Excellent nicely done ⭐️👍🏻
Thanks
Do those trailing arms have an antiwobble in the front joint? When I kill my leaf springs I’ll be going down this route too, only really see the fabricated style like Barnes/Ruffstuff have.
Yeah it's like a spherical ball surrounded by urethane bushings
Wax and buff the floor ,l am doing mine. Easy to clean.
Hadn't heard that solution.
I am looking for someone to place a 4BT into a 1966 bronco half cab. and some body work.. In western Canada
If you put a couple 1inch wheel spacers on each side could your brounco sqeez thourgh? You need those stabilizers or wood boocks to keep weight on the rear tires of the truck, and keep it from moving
He needed about 6 inches more width so he wouldn't run over and destroy his fenders. I have a lifted ram with wide tires, I ran my fenders over and bent the shit out of my fenders, I pounded them back out. When I had to unload, I overfilled my ram tires to thin my tires and ran barely back over my fenders. I need new fenders still, I will try buying some and making them lift off.
Easily done fella, done similar myself many times 😭
Has anyone mentioned the rear jack stands yet?
Only a few. 😅
Thanks for the video the dry ice idea seems like a good idea. Glad I watched this video since I found pretty much the same size crack in the same place in my fuel cell today of course right after fueling it up for a trip Tomorow. :(
Glad it was helpful!
decided to try some JB weld tank repair (Stick form) It worked for that trip well leave it that way until I use all the fuel in the cell then fix it correctly.@@Fabrication101
Yep I was thinking you were going to cut the tire.Your not an idiot

That was actually a really sound video dude. Few things I’ll be using especially the ear plug wire cleaner haha
Glad to hear it.
