Thanks for the video Brandon. I'm 74 and just getting started in welding. I'm currently building a welding table built on top of a Kreg rolling cart. You have given me some great ideas for storing and attaching items to the cart. Hey Brandon. I know this vid is 3 years old and you may no longer be looking at comments. But I meant to tell you this before and will now before I forget. 1) I get much inspiration from your vids. Thank you. 2) I have the same Evolution saw. Love it and found a great way to self collect 95% of the metal filing it makes. I bet you could fab a device for metal cut off saws that would be a bit more sophisticated than mine ;-) The way I do it (also works for my mounted portable band saw) I have a powerful magnet about 1.5" in diameter inside a cheap Harbor freight nitrile glove. Simply place it behind the saw where the most metal shards shoot out and it grabs the bulk of them. Why the nitrile or latex glove? You know how hard it is to get metal shavings off a strong magnet. The glove works great to allow you to go over to the trash can turning the glove inside out to let the shavings drop into the trash away from the magnet. Used a heavy duty ballon first, but it was too hard to release the filings. A Mag Switch magnet would be best, but they are expensive, so I went the cheap way LOL.
You are without a doubt the best welding channel on TH-cam. You're to the point and you're attention to detail is on point. Not to mention you're a great teacher. @@BrandonLund yeah was looking for some welding projects for my shop and i ran into your video.....I needed a place to hang my grinders and that was a perfect welding project.....keep up the good wook man
Awesome job, Brandon! One little thing; on those flowmeters, it's the *top* of the ball that is your CFH reading, so you're running closer to 19cfh. Turn it down a tad and save you some money welding this steel scrap, save 20-25cfh for stainless!
@@BrandonLund No problem, bud! I'll have to figure out how to post pictures of the gantry crane I built last week. Thing is insanely overbuilt for the size it is, but we had the scrap laying around, so it works.
Yes! My OCD would have kicked-in without that hole as well! Great video, Thank You...and just in time. I have been toying with ideas for a grinder rack for some time. ( Hmmm..."Let's Go Brandon's" grinder rack kits....could be lucrative 🤔)
It's the eternal workshop problem. You accumulate equipment to fill your available space. About 5 years ago I moved away from a place with a quite wide and double car length garage that I used as a hobby workshop. I now have a home with a pokey little one car garage as my "Play room". It's really annoying having to drag out larger tools (bench drill, bench grinders, welders, etc) from where they now live on shelves to use on my now solitary workbench rather than having separate workbenches with all the required kit already at hand for cutting/grinding, welding or painting. Every 1 hour job now takes 3. :(
@@Reman1975 I know the feeling. A lot of the hobby type jobs never get done because it becomes a scene full of foul language and flying objects. This usually leads to a good purge of the hoard of materials I have been moving around for years.
@@basshead8555 Oh god yeah. I know ALL about hording usefull stuff. Last time I moved I HAD to go through the contence of my wall of large plastic storage crates I use for storage in the garage. Amongst everything in them I found quite a few duplicate tools I'd forgot I'd even had, enough part boxes of nut's/bolt's/washers to start a small hardware shop, and a fair few spare parts I'd kept for my Fiat 127.......... And I haven't owned a 127 for over 25 years. :D On the plus side, The Fiat bit's fetched enough on eBay for me to buy myself a cheap portable bandsaw....... One shelf empties, another one fills. LOL !
Hey Brandon, I didn’t realize you had such a nice rack! Actually, they are nicely designed. How do we accumulate so many grinders? I just looked, and I have six. Your channel grows because of you, Brandon. I’ve seen channels with 5,000 subs after ten years.
Seems to need a hanger for the makita disc wrenches?? My objection would be that it takes up wall space which in my 1600 sq. ft. shop is still at a premium. Almost all has either a bench or toolbox where there isn't a power tool so reaching it would also be a problem. The problem is made worse as I have sixteen grinders at last count of all sizes which would need a large rack to say the least. Storage in the shop is always a big trade off. I like the design though if I find room I might actually adapt it to swing out on a hinge.
Thats a nice rack! Man you have a nice setup there....I'm just learning to weld...I have a stick welder I would like to go with a mig but idk where to start lol Exhaust with an arc welder is rough lol
bigfordmano5 thanks man! My advise is grab a cheap hf welder to start and work your way up. I've built tons of stuff with a hf welder. No shame in the game if your having fun 😉
Maybe make a video explaining auto darkening hood from harbor freight (the one I got) like adjusting everything...I'm a noob but getting better thank you for the time and effort you put into your videos! Its much appreciated
@@bigfordmano5 If you're welding less than 1/2" materials with .045" or less wire, set your hood darkness to 9 and the sensitivity to 6-7. That should have you handling pretty much everything. You don't want to go below 8 on the darkness ever, unless you're doing something like plasma cutting or oxyacetylene torch welding (for either, 5 works about perfect). Any lower than that is for ultra specialty types of welding at crazy low amperages on very small parts; not the usual garage project. If you're having trouble seeing, even if the lens seems okay, swap out your outside clear lens. That thing will get crazy dirty & pitted, and it's hard to notice until you actually pull it out and compare it to a new one. The difference is like night & day. (Especially since you're running stick. I know pipeline guys who go through 2-3 lenses a day sometimes.) Hope this helps.
I have a little arc welder, I'm getting pretty decent....I've done exhaust and various other things...its a forney 100st...I think I'd like a mig welder I think. I appreciate all the help! God bless you all!
Brandon, I didn't see in the show notes what kind of bench grinder you have. Probably right there in front of my nose but if you don't mind, what kind is it? I like the beefy rests it has.
It's just an inexpensive Harbor Freight grinder but I've been real happy with it. The stones that come on the grinder are horrible. Once you replace them the grinder is really well balanced.
Could you do a video on grinder usage? I’m confused past 4” cutting, 4” grinding. When do you use flapper bs grinder? Why do they make all the sizes? I see 2” pneumatic on car tv shows. Thanks..
@@BrandonLund not so much a memory problem, just maybe a hoarding issue and too much stuff. I'm slowly getting things more organized, so this will some day get taken care of. My shop is 10 miles from where I live, so I can't just go out and spend half an hour there. When I go, I want to get as much done as possible. I had more than one storage space I rented, and cut my expenses this way, but I'm done bargain hunting until I get some projects done. I'm now using maker space near my house, so I'm making storage carts that I can roll around, and this way I'll keep similar things together. It's nice to be able to spread things out a bit to get to the bottom, but since the space is rented by another person, I have to limit that.
Yah I tend to fall into that hoarding trap myself. I'll have something laying around for years that I collected and eventually convince myself it's time to get rid of it and sure enough within a month I'm trying to find it only to remember I tossed it. Deciding what to keep and for how long has always been a struggle for me and probably a lot of other like minded folks 😁
@@BrandonLund my dad had things for years that he would find a use for. I'm that way, too, but the hard part is the decisions we make in regards to that.
Hey Brandon, I started watching you before you got so famous that people are chanting "Lets Go Brandon" and wearing the shirt with the same logo! :) Mike from Illinois
Great build Brandon. I have one question, what where the holes for? I thought you might be notching them so the grinders would sit in each location, but it doesn't appear that way.
LOL I still cant believe it took me about 2 weeks to figure out why everyone kept saying Lets Go Brandon to me. I just thought they were digging me hahaha 🤣🤣🤣
It's not cheap but my Fronius is super nice. The YesWelder is really nice too but took me a minute to get everything adjusted properly. It has a lot of adjustment.
Brandon, I’ve saved some money and done my research but still spinning in circles on my final welder purchase. Brand name in case i don’t care for welding and I need to resell it later or no name with more features and functionality. Can you offer any advice?
Thats a hard question Mike. The route I personally went many years ago was i started out with a no name welder around the $199 price point and built tons of stuff with it. From there I bought name brand stuff. It's a gamble buying the no name stuff because you dont know if it will last a year or a month and the waranty might not be there. If cash was a concern and you think you might not like welding, maybe a HF flux core welder might be a good way to see if you like it because they are pretty good about a warranty expecially if you purchase a protection plan. If cash isn't much of a concern then maybe go with either a higher grade HF welder, a Hobart, Miller or Lincoln. I personally like Miller and Hobart. OR you could go BIG and buy it once and be done with it by getting a Fronius 2200 multi machine. Fronius will always hold it's value and is the best welder that money can buy hands down. Whenever I start a new hobby I usually go the budget route in case it's not what I expected or in case I lose interest but ultimately it's a personal choice.
@@BrandonLund I went with an Eastwood MIG 180. Doubled down on sales and coupons and free shipping for a total of $449. There was a spool gun option but I’m starting with steel and will get the gun for aluminum when I’m ready or maybe go with MAP gas and alum rods. Now I need gloves, helmet, etc, lol. 11/5 is my birthday!

i liked that.......Now i gotta make one
It's pretty handy man!
@@BrandonLund yeah was looking for some welding projects for my shop and i ran into your video.....I needed a place to hang my grinders and that was a perfect welding project.....keep up the good wook man
Thanks man and welcome aboard!
Enjoy your channel and project videos you do --- keep them coming will keep watching thanks
Thanks Jesse 👍 more to come!
Wicked good grinder rack
Thanks 😁
Nice build
Thanks Nathan!
Oregon here Brandon. I have been looking for an idea like this. Looking good and happy to see your channel grow
Thanks Morris I appreciate it. You guys are the reason. Thank you! 🙏
Going to build this. Great design! Cord control was a element I wasn't sure where i was going to go.
Thanks Mandel! 😁
Very nice work, ive been looking to do something similar in my shop. Hood down lights on.
Right on man!
LETS GO BRANDON!!!
I love it! ❤
Such a gorgeous helmet man that is sweet @Brandon Lund
Thanks man!

Awesome job, Brandon!
One little thing; on those flowmeters, it's the *top* of the ball that is your CFH reading, so you're running closer to 19cfh. Turn it down a tad and save you some money welding this steel scrap, save 20-25cfh for stainless!
It's never too late to learn. I always went by the center of the ball. Thanks for sharing that!
@@BrandonLund
No problem, bud! I'll have to figure out how to post pictures of the gantry crane I built last week. Thing is insanely overbuilt for the size it is, but we had the scrap laying around, so it works.
Thats awesome man! post it up!
Nice, another project on my list, thanks a lot
@PaulTec thanks man!
"We gotta drill that hole. That is going to drive me insane!" 😂😂 That's funny but I would be the same way!
It's a blessing and a curse Christopher lol
I would have just used one of those acme holes that the road runner used.
Hahahaha the younger guys are scratching their heads Tom lol 👍🤣
Yes! My OCD would have kicked-in without that hole as well! Great video, Thank You...and just in time. I have been toying with ideas for a grinder rack for some time.
( Hmmm..."Let's Go Brandon's" grinder rack kits....could be lucrative 🤔)
Right on James! 👍
Your ideas keep me busy on the weekends. Plus I know what Santa needs to bring me this year ( more angle grinders ).
Hahahaha you can nver have enough grinders! Thanks buddy! @Shane Barton
Now that's funny you and your wife ROCK
🤣🤣🤣 thanks buddd! I appreciate your support! 🙏 @Joe Rss
Awesome, super nice design!
Thanks buddy!
Love the shirt!!!
Thanks John! 😉

Just looked up the meme! Absolutely 100% - lets go Brandon!
🙏👍@Christopher Salisbury I'm glad I'm not the only one here that was unaware it was a thing Lets Go Brandon hahahaha 🤣🤣🤣
Great t-shirt lol 😆
Thanks Mike 😁
Brandon, could you make horizontal screw clamps for your welding table? This might be a nice addition to what you already have.
That’s a great idea Bryant! Thank you! 👍
@@BrandonLund you could use acme thread, and it would last longer than using bolts or all thread.
I love that idea!
@@BrandonLund the part with the handle to tighten, if you use two smaller pins on an angle, it will help keep it from wanting to pop out.
Bryant so like cut it at a bit of an angle? Is that correct?
I wish I had the wall space for this. So many tools not enough space. Very nice work!
Thanks man. I'm running into this same problem. I'm running out of space!
@Reman1975 I feel you brother!
On the plus side, The Fiat bit's fetched enough on eBay for me to buy myself a cheap portable bandsaw....... One shelf empties, another one fills. LOL !
Really enjoy your video's not real sure i understood the link above message but we will continue watching from Texas
Thanks Ricky!
Lets go Brandon. Nice Grinder Rack.
🤪🤪🤪 thanks David lol
I missed it. What were the holes for?
Hey Brandon, I didn’t realize you had such a nice rack!
Actually, they are nicely designed. How do we accumulate so many grinders? I just looked, and I have six.
Your channel grows because of you, Brandon. I’ve seen channels with 5,000 subs after ten years.
@Mel Gross thanks for noticing...😏 lol. I appreciate your support man!
I like that hinge idea Douglass! As far as the wrenches, I don't use them so I didn't create a space for them. Those end up in the bottom of a drawer.
Thats a nice rack! Man you have a nice setup there....I'm just learning to weld...I have a stick welder I would like to go with a mig but idk where to start lol
Exhaust with an arc welder is rough lol
bigfordmano5 thanks man!
Thanks for the suggestion! 👍 I will check it out :)
@@bigfordmano5
If you're welding less than 1/2" materials with .045" or less wire, set your hood darkness to 9 and the sensitivity to 6-7.
I know pipeline guys who go through 2-3 lenses a day sometimes.)
Hope this helps.
Thanks..
Great suggestion! Thank you. I will cover this very soon! @mike coughlin
I'm sure I would have as many grinders as you, but it's gonna take me a while to sort it out.
Its pretty bad when you "find" a couple grinders you forgot you had🤣🤣 it sucks getting old hahaha
Hahahahaha all this fortune and fame is gonna go to my head 😎 🤣🤣🤣
Your chop saw is design for metal only but can you use any miter box with a metal cutting blade?
Unfortunately you cant @BRIAN PIRTLE. The reason is that the blade spins too fast on a regular saw which overheats the and dulls the blade.
Great build Brandon. I have one question, what where the holes for? I thought you might be notching them so the grinders would sit in each location, but it doesn't appear that way.
That was my template leftover from when I built a fixturing jig. I was just using up scrap
The story about the comment and then your wife buying the shirt made me laugh!!
LOL I still cant believe it took me about 2 weeks to figure out why everyone kept saying Lets Go Brandon to me. I just thought they were digging me hahaha 🤣🤣🤣
@@BrandonLund i dig what you build gives me ideas for some of my projects!
Thanks man! 👍
I would of made the dowels longer to hold more disks @Brandon Lund
Probably not a bad idea
Hey I got quilting for what is the best set up for a self darling helmet
I was trying to say question
It's not cheap but my Fronius is super nice. The YesWelder is really nice too but took me a minute to get everything adjusted properly. It has a lot of adjustment.
Need to make a grinder rack
Ive had this setup for a while and I'm real happy with it.
I think you made a great choice! Those Eastwood welders are nice. It won't give you any trouble. Congratulations on the new purchase!
Hey Brandon,
I like your clear explanations. I’m sure it’s me but your sneakiness didn’t pop a link for me. Bummed, love to take you up! You could pm me a link!
