NEW SERIES!
I wanted to find out how possible it would be to become a Director of Football in FM as opposed to a manager. I've tried saves where I allow the DOF to do all of the transfers, and I wanted to try flipping it so that I do the transfers and a "head coach" does everything else... In this video, we start a new adventure. After moving away from Spurs, we start again abroad... in sunny Spain. We appoint a new manager and start doing what I do best... signing new players!

Great choice for a challenge. Prefer finding mid-high level players for decent prices and slowly building a trophy chasing squad. Looking forward to this 🙌

Almeria was left field but i am glad you went there. They are my team in Spain essentially because i managed to take them into Europe in an FM game a few years ago.
He's also only got his continental A licence. Develop him to the pro license and roll the dice that some of those attributes may improve.
Excited for this save Clayts LET'S GO!!! On a side note, it's pronounced Almeriiiiiiiia, with emphasis on the i (in case you didn't understand it haha), can't have the DOF not pronouncing correctly the name of the club he directs 😅 good luck with the series can't wait!

Almeria is a great choice. Tick over in Spain bit later ...I think it's July 12th. Also it's piping hot all year round. Be a great retirement home for legends! I'd sell everyone complete rebuild get loads of cash in and get a mix of legends and newgens. Be a lovely time.

Was buzzing when I seen the reveal. Currently in 2030 with Almeria - searching for that elusive UCL, just after winning my 6th la Liga in a row. Clayts is the goat. Really looking forward to this.

Can't believe I've just found this. Never thought I'd see my team on FM TH-cam...
So, after watching up to here
Some comments
1. As soon as you set one tactic "just to show us what the manager will probably play" the players are actually training with that tactic set as the Primary Trained Tactic which means they are likely to play it
2. You can try and change the preferred formation of a manager by setting the tactic (as in comment #1) and then seeing him play that formation - especially when his 2nd favored is something you might actually liked.
Yep - which is why I go with the tactic that is already the preferred one - and a preset version of it so as to influence as little as possible.
It’s a workaround game mode and we have to work with what we’ve got

As someone who supports Lille I'd like to say that Chevalier is an awesome goalkeeper, he's been amazing at Lille, great signing!

Great choice, really excited for this! Do you not still need someone to cover the right hand side though? Or are you relying on Vella adapting to there? Otherwise I'd say the squad looks in decent shapes, just clear some of the unneeded players and maybe use the free wage bill to get some exciting youngsters for depth I'd say

No matter how Spurs does after your departure, it can't possibly turn into a bigger dumpster fire than it is in real life right now.

it will be interesting to see how long spurs can stay prem and ucl title competitive and how much more they win before they naturally return to being similar to the rest of the top 6. i wonder how long before they sell their stars like sesko, pino and bellingham and who they bring in with that money.
Colon is still the dream but we need to get to a point where we have £84m in straight cash to spend because of his release clause

You really inspired me, but what instructions do you when a match starts? Go on holiday? And how are you deciding which tactic the club is training on? These are the thing I don't know what to do.
Would recommend M’bala Nzola, was the top scorer in the league and for Vallecano in the game and has been extremely reliable as a striker for me over the last couple of editions of FM
Charles Vella is a bargain at that salary. It's way lower than some of the contracts you inherited for players who are older, lower potential, and no better right now. Plus if he's only worth the low end of his value at £39 million he's worth it. You paid £4.9 million and you're paying him about £3.4 million per season, so worst case he doesn't improve much, you can cash in and still make a tidy profit after taking salary into account.
I would start looking at the ageing players that I want to sell by next year and recruit in those positions. I think there are valid arguments to try to sign a really good cb or winger (which you've already done) to influence results but with two gks over 34 you absolutely have to sign at least one gk (which you've also done) since you'll need one or two more next year. I think I'd focus on a cb to move varane out of the team asap and start looking at which first 11 players can become squad players either now or next season and be improved on.
Almeria got champions league football under Fernando Torres on my save. Ex Chelsea strikers seem popular!

Varane is not worth the purchase at all. Could look for defenders with similar attributes and max value £2m-£10m (with good physical attributes too 😂)
The squad can do with a complete revamp. Maybe keep players for the club series (see how they develop till the end of the series). Vella looks like a beast
Definitely should focus on players age range for the squad progress. The value and potential of players should play key to Almeria’s development. I’m intrigued to see the talented pool of young talents under 10m value and max age, 20.
Including any young talents at Tottenham to shortlist and pursue once the club establish themselves financially.
Would you consider scouting the staff across La Liga? I believe improving the backroom staff will bring a massive boost to Almeria’s presence in the league and Europe also, plus you can weaken your rivals.
Definitely need a new goalkeeper but you can tell its gonna be a good series

Don't think you should sign chaves, for that sort of money for a year you could probably pick up someone similar that would be yours to build a team around like you did with the lad from partizan
