I wanted to find out how possible it would be to become a Director of Football in FM as opposed to a manager. I've tried saves where I allow the DOF to do all of the transfers, and I wanted to try flipping it so that I do the transfers and a "head coach" does everything else... In this video, we finalise our transfer business in our first window at Almeria. I've done what I always do and spent silly money on players that I almost certainly don't need... oh well! I think the rest of the business is good... Also we play the first few games of the season!

Neymar gets at least 10 assists because of his set plays. Defo worth the year. I'd sell Daka as he will get in the way in terms of the players you want to start instead of him. And that forces Iceman into picking the right team!

Loving the series! Quick question - how does your manager deal with playing players depending on their playing time status? Does he play the 'star players' more even if they don't fit in the style properly, or does the manager tend to ignore the playing time agreement?
He will probably care about the playing time a lot. I haven't done DoF on FM 23 yet, but have played like that for years in previous versions, and playing time is probably the number 1 criteria for why a player gets picked. That is why we sometimes have players playing all the time in unexpected positions, since the assistant manager has to find a way to put them in the team. I feel like the Totteham experience hinted that this is still a thing on FM 23, as Kane kept playing no matter what (and maybe that was a thing with Romero too?).
And I actually like these dynamics, since as DoF we can't manage the playing time by choosing when to play someone, so our share of work is actually on building a balanced enough squad where everyone is happy with the role they have.

Neymar definitely worth it for one season! Always have to get some old heads in whilst the kids are developing! Do you use the squad planner much to see what the manager's ranking of players by position is for the season, and future seasons?
I'm going to love this upcoming seasons. Seasons for true FM lovers haha Great signings but I can't believe you didn't manage to get a back up right back, you're getting old hahaha Anyway thank you for the episode !

Wing play in the 4231 is very good inverted winger/wingback interactions are very powerful. You may want to decipher how he sets his lines and how wide your Ass Man plays, so you can at least train your main tactic to his preferences.

I wrote this on 17 minutes in, so you may have done this later in the vide - You should change the tactic you have up in the tactics screen from a Gegenpress to Wing Play as that is what the Ass Man plays now

I think it is more fun to play with unusual formations and playing styles. It gets boring playing with a 4231 or 433 gegenpress every time.

What are the recruitment focus you use to find all those young guys with potencial?
Just search for players between the ages of 15 and 18 that have minimum 4 star potential and they’ll find loads

Loving the series, hopefully it will make SI think about adding this to the game as a proper mode to play.
I would also love it if SI gives you way less influence as a starting manager and according to your reputation or time at club, give you more control as a manager. I find it unrealistic that I can start as a 30yo Sunday leugue player turned manager and sack the staff and control all aspects of a big club 🤔

Young players has tendency to grow even in height so don't always worry when a young player is not at a certain height at 19 yrs
They very very rarely increase in height
Would have liked if you signed a few less young players as it seems a bit unrealistic but looking forward to the save anyway
You are saying Almería wrong the letters are well pronounced but the focus should go on the -ría

Gotcha - he was still the best option we could have gone for though I think, let’s give him the benefit of the doubt for now.
@@Clayts yeah hopefully he can take the team to at least a decent enough finish to build on. Finishing his license may improve his stats as well.
