      The hkp2000sk is perfect 4-in barrels on compacts Irvine but to have this bigger body and 3 inch length is awesome

    The p2000 is a beautiful firearm. Been eyeing one in 9mm. Would prefer the subcompact but wouldn’t mind the full size. But $500 brand new is a steal! My local gun store a used one for $600! Awesome find!

    when you test a firearm past 10-20k rounds you learn weird stuff about reliability such as how making a slightly bendy but oversized plastic pinkey extension will confuse every internet expert while also preventing cumulative damage from dropping the magazine on the floor thousands of times, which would otherwise cause reliability issues/damage. just one of those things. if you look up and translate the original reports from the p2k and p2ksk military/boarder police trials, this was a specific finding and change that was made. i put ~20k rounds through my g22 and its basically shot itself to pieces. it malfunctions now in really strange ways. for .40, i almost feel like you need to practice with atleast 5k if not 10k+ rounds to get to a level of profficeincy where you can trust your skill as much as you would with 500-1000 rnds of 9mm. the irony is that if you actually train that much on essentially every .40 on the market, you shoot the gun to pieces and its no longer reliable. a reliable .40 cal + enough training is actually cheaper if you buy an HK than most other guns since you only need to purchase the gun once

      @@theccwdad Yeah, I've noticed that. I think it would be a mistake if gun companies stopped producing .40 firearms. It's an excellent, more powerful round that (in most cases) fits into many 9mm platforms without having to require a larger frame, unlike the .45, even though it is more powerful than the .45 (on average). I've always liked the .45 and still do, but I think in general that the .40sw is a better round (not including that more .45acp firearms exist) and if I'm not mistaken it's also a little cheaper.

      @vevenaneathna 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      20k rounds of .40 in my glock 22, the thing is basically shot to pieces. the slide randomly slides forward and jams on a round if you insert it too forcefully while cocked back. the slide rattles and flexes side to side much more than brand new and causes feed issues. the recoil spring has lost some of its sprungness and you can physically see the slide kachunk back into battery with every round, sometimes it drops the sear and needs to be recocked to fire if i pull the trigger too quickly. hmm what else, idk. glock scaled up their 9mm and tried to shove a .40 inside it which has 30-50% more energy than 9mm and you can tell the margin of reliability and durability just isnt there. with the HK p2ksk i believe it was actually the first gun to use a "nested" or compound recoil spring and HK actually controlled a preliminary patent for a short period of time which delayed most other EU located mfg from copying it until a few years ago. imo if you shoot enough to be competent with .40, you will have to buy 2 guns unless you buy an older HK like this or maybe that older SW 59whatever that was actually made around the .40. theres a reason they never made a VP40sk, it was just too hard and no one asked them specifically to. look up the hkp7 that was chambered in .40sw and the ridiculous changes HK had to make to the slide inorder to build in the same level of safety and reliability as the 9mm version.

    Thank you for the great video. Now compare the p2000sk to only da/sa hammer fired guns. There are a LOT of people who will never CARRY a striker fired pistol. Many believe them to be too unforgiving for their needs (cocked pistol with a 5 lb trigger). This is one of the best options for those people, as there aren’t many guns in this category (and certainly not of this quality).

    The hk p2000 is literally a rounded down version of usp compact . It’s a combat duty pistol that is built to last 100,000 rds . So yes you can go smaller and thinner . But they aren’t in the same class. Is hk level necessary? Not really unless you want to shoot a lot and never have to replace anything.

      Modern .40 smokes 9 and .45 most of the time. Modern 40 has 500-600 Ft lbs of energy. neither 9 or .45 come close anymore .357 sig is sweet, but stupidly overpriced and almost unobtanium, like borderline extinct. .40 and 10mm are the ultimate semi auto cartridges, most bang for buck, readily available.

    Although the 40 is superior to the 9 mm, you are dead wrong it cannot do it all! Here in Alaska over the last 15 years, the 10 mm has been replacing the 44 magnum as an every day carry because it has proven itself more than capable of dropping charging brown bears! The best all-around that can do everything subcompact is the Glock 29! I owned an H & K spurless hammer version of what you were showing here in 9mm. With lightweight rounds from Underwood made by Lehigh defense there’s nothing the 40 can do as well as the 10 mm yet the 10 mm can do everything the 40 mm can do and a lot more! With the lighter weight bullets you can use it for self-defense against dangerous life-threatening upright bipedal hominids. In this area, the 40 is perfectly adequate. If you go into the woods, especially Alaska, northern Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming, the 40 will come up short against bears. End of story! This is where the Glock 29 simply cannot be beaten by any other subcompact! you choose the correct round with the correct bullet weight from a high-end manufacturer like Underwood, and the 10 mm is perfectly capable of taking down dangerous, threatening quadrupeds of the genus Ursis. Be at Ursus, americanus or Ursis Horribilis. With the obesity epidemic in America today, the 9 x 19 and the 40 and the 18 inch penetration will soon be found to be in adequate penetration. I speak from the experience of thousands of hours spent in the operating room dealing with extreme battlefield trauma during the global war on terrorism, as well as level, one trauma centers in cities, which cannot figure out why they have such a high crime rate was guns, because they have completely banned them! I’m sorry, but I don’t want to sound like an arrogant physician. However, I do have the experience in the operating room, which you do not. I also perform a necropsy on every bear which I kill here in Alaska. There’s only one subcompact capable of protecting you, against the full range of threats from the city to the northern woods in the lower 48, where Ursus horriblis lives, and in Alaska, where they live in your yard. If you’re only going to stay in the lower 48, and in cities, then yes, the 40 is perfectly adequate until people become more and more obese. Everyone picks their own poison. The number one factor is practicing enough to be able to hit reliably accurately and quickly. Number two is bullet selection, so it will not only penetrate far enough, but it will do severe enough damage to incapacitate the threat as rapidly as possible. in this regard, the 40 simply cannot and never will be able to keep up with the 10 mm! Nice review well done professionally done scientifically however the conclusions based off of countless thousands of hours in the operating room both military and civilian are incorrect. The reason the 9 mm has been chosen is most police forces including federal do not want to spring for enough money so their agents can train to handle the 10 mm. As far as penetration if you can find one to 357 Sig will do anything of 40 will do however, the recoil will not be as severe and the internal damage is worse because the velocity is higher. Remember kinetic energy is mass times velocity squared divided by two. Therefore with a proper bullet 357 Sig and 10 mm stand head and shoulders above 9 mm and 40 smith and Wesson. This is not opinion it is scientific fact backed by thousands of hours like I stated in both military and civilian level one operating rooms. One thing I forgot to mention, of course practice so you can control it proper bowl selection, I mentioned these. I did forget to mention proper bowl placement is the only thing which will keep the 9 mm in the 40 competitive on the low end with the 357 Sig and the 10 mm. For those who think I’m just talking I carry a 10 and I have killed for bears with a 10. Each one required one shot. The central nervous system hit resolve it was necessary. With an upright bipedal hominid who is morbidly obese with many layers of clothing on you’re going to need something that has enough energy to punch through all of the layers of clothing, the fat and still have enough energy when it arrives, inside to not only make a sizable permanent one cavity, but a temporary one cavity which will destroy blood vessels, insufficient quantity to cause enough internal exsanguination for rapid incapacitation.
