    Lovely makes Deb and l particularly love the fabric combination on the duster. l am one for hand sewing the finish on a yoke. Excellent tips on how to cover up mistakes as we all make them! I’m looking forward to your Nerida Hanson pattern choice and the dress reveal segments. Very exciting😊

    Fantastic placket tip. I am not bad at them in general but will take on board your tips to improve my results. Like you I reduce stitch length at corners and points that need to be clipped- makes me feel more secure. Also put some lightweight interfacing (small square) at the base of the placket and at corners that will be clipped into. Love the tip about adding a piece of fabric as a design feature. Love both of your makes. 😊 Lynne

    • @dbdesignsandsewingaustrali5668
      @dbdesignsandsewingaustrali5668  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks Lynne, that’s true about the piece of interfacing, when I made the Vogue dress at Christmas it had little squares everywhere, often the pattern instructions suggest it for stability. Is that something we were taught at school to reduce the stitch length, I can’t remember maybe I am channeling my mum. Have a great sewing week, Deb 🪡🧵💕

    Love your Aurora dress - beautiful fabric. I know what you mean about making a mistake (and hate when it happens right at the end, so frustrating and as you said makes you lose your confidence even though you have made great projects in the past). So good to have some more Australian TH-camrs.

      Thanks Marlene, we all lose confidence when it doesn’t work out, it’s good to have a backup plan. I do enjoy the Aussie TH-camrs. Have a great sewing week, Deb 🪡🧵💕

    Love the Friday sews format Deb, with the hints for plackets. Ive made only one Wardrobe by Me pattern, which was the canvas jacket and it was the first shirt type pattern I’ve made in 40+ years . I took it slow and made exact marks and found it a great pattern. There was a video for the make as well, which i watched, but didn’t need. The Aurora dress version you’ve made looks great as a kaftan or Coverup!

      Thanks Paula, the Wardrobe by Me Patterns are good and seem to fit well, the Aurora dress/kaftan will be great if we get some hot weather. Have a great sewing week, Deb 🪡🧵💕

    Great tips to hide little mistakes, and both dress and duster look great. I am patiently waiting for you to demonstrate the new overlocker, and to hear what you really think of it , I'm still thinking hard to buy one, not done any recent sewing, just hemming curtains 😢 small new sewing room is proving a challenge 😮as is downsizing everywhere here, like your new intro, regards Diana from NZ 🎉❤

    • @dbdesignsandsewingaustrali5668
      @dbdesignsandsewingaustrali5668  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Diana, you can hide most issues and the only person that will know is you. We are looking at moving to rural Victoria in late 2024, hopefully I will get a big sewing room, not sure how I will go in a small space it is a challenge to downsize. Hope you get some time to sew this week, Deb 🪡🧵💕

    Great information, thank-you. I have made the joti duster with the buritto method as i like the lined look, however i'm sure i made mine too large even though i went with the pattern measurement at the bust! Love the caftan it looks great!

      Thanks j-asewistdownunder, I measured a medium, but looking at the finished size and it is cotton so would really be for Summerish weather decided to size down, glad I did. Have a great sewing week, Deb 🪡🧵💕

    Hi Deb, love your new intro! The Joti Duster turned out wo lovely. You'll get alot of wear out of that I reckon. And the dress in lawn fabric is so, so lovely. And great suggestions on how to hide mistakes or issues. I too had an issue with the Ciolo desks with the neckline so much so that I don't wear it much. Mine is also in black, and white linen from spotlight. Plus it's too short! I'm still in 2 minds on what to do with it. Great vlog! ❤❤

    • @dbdesignsandsewingaustrali5668
      @dbdesignsandsewingaustrali5668  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks Deb, you could always use a plain black or white linen strip and take in the front and add a band on the bottom to extend it, I’ve done that before. Have fun sewing, Deb 🪡🧵💕
