    That is not a hoarders home. That is a home that someone has lived a lifetime.

      We threw away about 1000 blue styrofoam containers we found still in the bags in the attic….

      @@thehocketthome we laughed about our grandmother washing and keeping all her Styrofoam. They lived in a time of reuse and recycle.

      @the hockett house I agree with all the viewers' comments that this was someone's home and lifetime. It's called empathy. But, I find that most of your replies have a defensive tone. You're replies with exclamation points don't feel sincere. And your incessant whining about everything. "All this goes; I like new kitchens. We're flipping, not thrifting." Uppity much? Can't even finish watching this video with all the complaining. Rhetorically, why did you even choose this house? 💔 No need to respond to me, as I won't be reading it.

    I guess I have to add my two cents; it’s not a hoarder house. I have to say that my house, my son’s houses, and none of my previous houses had a lot of lighting. You buy lamps.

    People seem to think a house needs to be filled top to bottom with trash and garbage to be a hoarder house. Like the Potters House series in Curiosity Inc
    There’s much potential and with hard work you should make a good profit.

    That's not really a HOARDERS house. It's cluttered, but by definition of "hoarder" this isn't one.

    • @thehocketthome
      @thehocketthome  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      We did clear two 26 foot moving trucks of stuff and over 20 contractor bags of trash before filming.
      And I wouldn’t call it extreme hoarding but definitely hoarding.

    This is not a hoard the elderly person left there after their children moved on and took none of the rubbish with them, obviously they were not in good health and able to empty it themselves. Very sad that they had no support,I’m sure you toured the house and got a great price so no point whinging about the contents

    • @thehocketthome
      @thehocketthome  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That’s actually not the story of this house: we got to know the owner fairly well and did a lot to help him. We got a great price and he got a fair deal.

    You sure missed an opportunity to make money. You could have sold quite a bit of that stuff you call 'junk". People buy almost anything. I once sold a bunch of jar lids---no, no jars, just lids. An estate sale, a garage sale, ebay, many ways and it would have brought in money for the reno. The items like the cleaning products alone - people buy that stuff. Some of the furniture was vintage and some antique. You missed a chance for profit. Even those Styrofoam containers could have been sold.

    • @thehocketthome
      @thehocketthome  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's true, you could make money on almost anything - but we're not interested in being thrifters.

      Actually we helped the owner of the estate move 2 uhauls from the home before closing that we paid for ourselves. His attorney said we were angels sent to him because the owner otherwise would have lost the home. But we hope you’ll stick around for the renovation!
