Crankcase oil of refrigerating Compressor should be renewed every Six Months Interval.
Unlikes other Lube Oil, Refrigerating plant crankcase oil is Ester Oil and Oxygen can easily dissolve into it.
Large amount of oxygen dissolving in oil reduces properties of ester oil and can damage compressor parts.

Sure.
Pumping down the system is required.
And also, need to reduce low pressure setting.
