The red sofa and chair set were right upp my alley. Would get them reupholstered, of course. The mcm headboard with the cubbies was also on my 'wish I lived closer to that store' list. Our city had our curbside free weekend last week and I managed to get a art deco inspired waterfall top dresser with working drawers and a mcm laminate buffet with drawers. Just down the street so i managed to move them home with a wheelbarrow. My hubby didn't even noticed them in the garage when he came home.
I love shopping with you! There was a lot of cool stuff today. I have not been in our local ReStore in forever. I really need to pop over there to take a look and to drop some things off, too. I’ll be excited to see what you do next!🌸
Hi Katie. You are such an inspiration for me. I love how you give new life to old furniture pieces. I picked up a wooden end table at a thrift store for $15 and I'm looking for a similar piece to make a set. Haven't decided yet what I'm going to do with it but you give me lots of ideas. Thank you! Greetings from Edmonton Alberta 😃👋
I really loved this video!! Getting your insight into each piece is like GOLD!! Thank you for sharing your experience and can't wait to see the refinished pieces!!
Love your channel, Katie! Question for you - are there ever solid wood pieces, such as those bed frames, where it's feasible to repurpose it entirely into part of another piece of furniture? For example, if a solid wood headboard were large enough, would it ever be a good idea to harvest it into a table top and make an entirely new piece of furniture? Keep up the great work!
So helpful! When you take us along on your hunt for potential remakes, I learn so much! I'm trying to stay focused on my own (outdated) Roxton maple furniture to update for myself so I'm staying away from my local thrift shops.... for now!!😊
Wow, Angie! This is a terrific tool to add to your shop. When I saw the little wooden round with Nacho's face, I instantly wanted to buy one, but with a Christmas hat. I really the coasters too!
Hey Katie, Thanks for taking us along on your quest for a flip. I am glad that you were successful and I can't wait to see what you decide to do to them. 🌺😀
I’m happy you found a few pieces to work on. I feel in love with tiger oak dressers. I refinished one n the veneer was shot so I took it off n low n behold there was oak underneath. Wasn’t tiger but I was still happy. I wish my town had places like yours with lots of furniture. Will be waiting to see what you’ll be doing next. ♥️😊👍👍🌟🌟
That was so fun shopping with you and learning from you!! Have you ever thought of helping some of us rookies with what to do with furniture we already have and what to do with it?
That’s a great trick for a lot of drawers but usually the art deco drawers require A LOT more attention then that. It’s just the nature of the construction style used on those pieces.
Nice off you to take us with you and show what the Thrift store have to offer ! So many pieces and one even more beautiful then the other. It is always hard to make a choice when there is so much to see in those,s Shops, for me it is always difficult to pic one..... But the to two dressers you bought and i am curious wat you will do with those two ! Nice video and very interesting to see what in Canada landing in a thrift store ! See you on the next video !
LOL… ‘We’re’ going way back…to the 70’s. I survived those sorta wood, chocolate brown plasticy ‘Spanish’ things when they came out. I really didn’t like them then. It just surprises me when anyone likes them. Usually they are a generation or so younger than I am…lol.. There are some things we def agree on…others, not so much. 😉
Really interesting pieces, loved a lot of them myself. Price is so off at thrift stores and especially the Re-Store, in my opinion. I often wonder who is in charge of that at stores. We were at Goodwill and they had an old cassette deck that they had priced at over $100!! Thanks for sharing your trip with us! Kacha just redid one of those big clunky pieces in her gold leaf style.
Wow.....I live in the Moncton area and saw the same pieces you did at value village. I can't believe how expensive furniture pieces have gotten in Moncton in the last few years. Still cheaper than some places in the GTA but still.....
So on those super big pieces with the molded plastic on the fronts, what do you do? Do you take the molded parts off? Just curious, loved hearing your options on various pieces.
Katie, I have a dresser and a chest of drawers from the 30's, solid white oak I was told. They are totally stripped down and I want to leave the natural wood look. What product should they be finished with? I live on the prairies so should be able to get similar products to you.
You paid 170 and 200 dollars for these dressers. I know you are a philanthropist and can afford to give away furniture you buy and restore. But those of us who are trying to make a living cannot afford to pay those prices. I would love for you to teach us on cheaply priced furniture that makes a good profit. I loved the table with the legs and its hutch dresser. The price for the table was a bargain at 50 dollars but the second part was I believe 175 which is too much unless both are purchased together. Still, you will need chairs so it might not be a profitable set. I do enjoy your art which is why I watch your videos and I want to thank you for that very much for sharing with your subscribers.
I’m also on a budget but $200 for a dresser that can be restyled and resold for $800-$1000 is a very profitable flip. Most of the furniture that I work on was picked up for FREE.
You just weren’t in the mood today. You could learn to make a drawer- just watch TH-cam. 😂. Seriously I think you need to start harder repairs to rekindle your open spark.
I am enjoying the tour of furniture stores, however I’m a little taken back with your need to paint and paper furniture, some of it should not be painted and one day if it’s a quality piece of furniture, someone will be stripping it back and restoring it. That tiger oak furniture is not to be painted, that furniture needs a restoration not stripping and painting, sorry if I sound negative but I’m in shock at your desire to destroy vintage and antique furniture 😱
well if you actually watch her channel you'll know she's one of the few furniture flippers who actually try to respect beautiful natural wood, she only paints over them if its cheap veneer or damaged beyond repair. if she weren't picking up these pieces to restore, they would probably end up in the dumps anyway.
So great to see with your eyes what pieces you'd pick and what's a good price for things vs not. Thanks for taking us along, Katie.
Thanks for watching!
You do have great videos. Very enjoyable.
Wow, I’m only 5 minutes in and I can’t believe the high prices on these used pieces.
I'm about to start my first flip piece for my daughter... You gave me all the tools and confidence!
You can do it!
Good luck!!! You got this!
SO nice to hear you comment about the pros and cons with some of the pieces....trains your viewer's eye.

Love watching your thrifting adventures! It's like a treasure hunt for unique furniture pieces.
Thank you Katie! That was fun!
So glad!
Thank you for taking us along! See you soon! ❤
Thanks for coming

I LOVED this episode! I feel I learned a bit of how you LOOK at things. Do it again! Thanks, Katie.
I am always so happy to see a new video from you! You are one of my absolute favorite teachers/flipper/friend!
You're the best!
Whatever project you work on will be beautiful when you are done with your magic!❤

Absolutely! That's just not really my jam.
Thank you for letting us join you on your shopping trip i look forward to seeing what you do with your purchases ❤❤❤

Really great to tag along with you today and see what caught your eye and what you might do with different pieces. Thanks! ❤
Looking forward to see which ones you will be transforming back to beautiful. Enjoyed taking the trip with you.
It was fun to hear your thought process while hunting for viable new flips....and love your pretty manicure!!
Great comments, Katie!! Love your opinion and knowledge!!!

Hey Katie,
Thanks for taking us along on your quest for a flip. I am glad that you were successful and I can't wait to see what you decide to do to them. 🌺😀
Yes! I loved having your thoughts as you checked out furniture ❤ thank you Katie.
You make these thrifting videos so much fun!

It was fun looking at the available pieces
Thank you so much for sharing your perspective on each piece. So very beneficial for those of us just starting out.
That was fun Katie! Thank you so much!
That was so fun shopping with you and learning from you!! Have you ever thought of helping some of us rookies with what to do with furniture we already have and what to do with it?
Maybe one day!
What a great selection of thrifting stores to shop in
I was surprised by the various prices 😮😮
With wood on wood draws, rub a candle completely over both sides including the bottom runners, they then slide well
That’s a great trick for a lot of drawers but usually the art deco drawers require A LOT more attention then that. It’s just the nature of the construction style used on those pieces.
Hi Katie,
How fun!
🧡🧡🧡
I love these videos! Especially when you went around looking at curbside finds ❤
Thanks for keeping the ReStore in your rotation! Great pieces today
Loving thrifting with you. Thank you!!
This is so helpful!!!!!!!
Would love to see more of how you assess/choose furniture either at the thrift or scrolling FBMP
Great idea! I'll see what I can come up with.

That was fun! I loved those faux tiger wood pieces at the Restore!
Always fun to go shopping with you
A fun shopping trip! 👍🏻
The trends here in Sweden are so different, Im constantly saying "the one to the left, the left, ah you walked right past it"! lol
This was fun! Due to failing health, most of my shopping is online. I can still watch others shop, though.
It always comes down to good bone structure ✔️🌟💜

As always, you are teaching us invaluable information about furniture! Blessings from Oregon.

I hope you go back for that dining table with the leaf.
Wow.....I live in the Moncton area and saw the same pieces you did at value village. I can't believe how expensive furniture pieces have gotten in Moncton in the last few years. Still cheaper than some places in the GTA but still.....
I love your eye and expertise
The prices Katie is quoting seem fair to me :) great finds
I love this video so much!! It was so relaxing and interesting to watch!!
Oooh.. the one on the right at 14:32… would love to see that closer….. LOL… and then you did look at it closer… 15:40…Thanks.
This video was very helpful. I want to work on some pieces, but don’t know where to start
This was fun!
You are so nice! God bless you!
The bakelite handles on the one item are worth more than the asking price.
So on those super big pieces with the molded plastic on the fronts, what do you do? Do you take the molded parts off? Just curious, loved hearing your options on various pieces.
You need to fly back to Ontario, rent a U-haul, shop and drive back 😊
Loved the trip today ❤😮😊

Those flower tables are cute. Never seen those here in Manitoba
So interesting
Great picks
Great video ilovet thanks for sharing.
I Always enjoy your videos.❤
Katie please go back and get that mid century end table please please please
I was surprised the salvation army prices were so high.
Would you take off all the molded plastic on that big dresser?
VV boutique is getting so expensive Katie. I usually take a donation to get the 20% off coupon before shopping. Lol. Unless it’s Tuesday senior day.
I find our Value Village prices are really high. I rarely shop there.
Pleas, please, please go back to the restore for the buffet!
what name of last place ?
When you go to thrift store you can make a offer on furniture .
Those prices are crazy for such damaged pieces. Maybe next time
Its a Butterfly leaf

I don’t like less worked job
