My husband's parents owned an upholstery shop. They always used an electric bread knife to cut foam. I see them in the thrift shop fairly often. Might be worth a try. Keep up the lovely work!
My husband does upholstery as a side job! That is what he uses! That chair and striped fabric were beautiful! My husband often uses a layer of fiber fill! It’s in a sheet! That gives the foam a soft look! It’s just our preference to do it that way! Your cushion looks grew and I love it all! The chair is so beautiful and I love the white pillow you added! Great job!
I have covered cushions in the same way but duck taped the back to help keep it in place. When you want to change, it just comes right off and doesn’t hurt the cushion or materiel. I learned this from decorator Christofer Lowell years ago. 😊
The cart was truly a trash to treasure! With your wood working skills just about anything can be saved. We saved a wicker loveseat from someone's trash at the curb & now it's on our front porch. I would have bought the mirror too.
Mary, I own two of those exact wicker chairs! I purchased them at least 45 years ago and was told by the elderly owner that they had been in her family since the early 1900s! Next time we re-paint them, I’ll use a pressure washer to remove the excess paint. Thanks for that information! Love your videos!
I am always impressed at your ability to have a vision for each piece, subtracting and adding as needed, seeing beyond the initial surface and use. Very pleasing to watch and enjoy the end result.
Suggestion, Mary. I've temporary wrap covered foam cushions with fabric several times, and I use some duct tape on back to temporarily secure it. Works great, and comes off just fine! I also found that wrapping the foam with a thin white batting helps the fabric look better, more cushy, less stiff, and foam color won't show through. Love your chair and cushion!💚🤍💚
Oh Mary, these projects are so inspiring, you’re so creative and your projects are so tasteful and useful , such a sweet Mom you have too, sooo enjoy your videos from 🇨🇦❤️
Wow I love that cart, what an upgrade! My daughter has one of those in her pantry that she keeps her potatoes and vegetables in, it has wire baskets. Someone must have donated the cart and kept all the baskets.
I was going to suggest that too, electric knife the kind used to carve a turkey at Thanksgiving. I tried it out & it works, use with caution of course.
love the wicker chair! Keep in mind that an old electric knife works great on cutting foam. YOu can usually pick one up at goodwill for a few dollars. great video!
Mary, the beverage cart is so sweet! And the chair was in great condition, turned out so pretty, I would have loved it in red!!! You look so pretty in the cute dress, perfect fit too!❤❤
Hi Mary. I love all your projects. An electric kitchen knife will cut right through any foam you need for future projects. You can probably find one at one of the thrift stores. Thank you for all your inspiring work!
Mary, remember next time you're in the thrift store go to the kitchen tools and find your electric knife for cutting foam. You'll love it cuts like butter.
Attention to possibilities is so you! The chair, the beverage cart, the message center were worth saving and transforming! Love what you did with the cups!
The note board was absolutely perfect, can’t wait to try those water transfers!! Also you made the cushion simple and easy for the wicker chair❤. Thank you again and again for giving all of us your talented gift of designing old and used to new and gorgeous!
That table will probably come in very handy. Smart idea. Glad you got to visit with your mom! Thrifting really is a lot of fun😂. Your projects always turn out spectacular!!
Mary, that dress looked like it was made for you. I really like it. The color is beautiful and springy and happy. It looks really good on you. I'm the 73 soon to be 74. Great Grandma that watches you all the time. Keep up the good work. I love what you do I wish I could come out to see you sometime but I don't think I'll ever be able to make it with my health. But I can watch You on TH-cam.
You rehabbed each piece to perfection! I really like the idea of those water transfers, so thank you so much for passing that info on to us. Will have to look for those and try them out.
Mary all of your projects came out so beautiful. Our Goodwill has raised their prices so high you don’t feel like you are thrifting any more. I was excited to find a beautiful old linen table cloth on a half price day for $1.50. Great bargain. Love all your videos. 💕💕💕💕
Love everything you found Mary. The wicker chair and the pretty fabric turned out great. You have such vision for all the things. Thank you for sharing your finds!!
I was skeptical when I saw the bar cart at first, but was amazed once it was done. You sure have an eye Mary. The dress looks adorable on you. Glad you had a nice mother daughter day. Love your TH-cam channel.
Just LOVE the items you redid Mary as always, and the second you picked up those latte cups I was thinking WE ALL know a lady named Mary who would know how to make EPIC candles outta those for a coffee bar, that DRESSSSSSSS is everything on you so beautiful and you cant even buy the fabric for 2 bucks, love seeing what you thrift and thrifting also,a BIG hello from Ontario,Canada.
Good mourning sweet Mary. I so love your down to earth personality and creativity. Loved seeing your sweet momma. I would love to find a little island cabinet for my small kitchen.💕
Great ideas Mary! I had wished you would have gotten that fireside basket. I have one and have plans to paint it but hoping to see how yours turned out and your uses. I had a wicker rocker for approximately 40 years, the last 20 on my covered front porch. It finally disintegrated that wasn’t safe to sit in but how I enjoyed that chair! Have a great rest of the week🍁🌻🍂
I love when you do the "Thrift Store Challenge". Does your mind ever slow down? Your dress is very pretty on you. Thank you for your videos and allowing us into your home. Karen in North Carolina
I can’t believe how fantastic everything turned out. You are so good at seeing the possibilities of these finds! I wish I had a goodwill next door to a planet fitness like the one you visited. It would make me want to go workout more and then thrift!
Just commenting because I know it helps your channel Mary-others have already said that electric carving knives are fantastic for cutting cushion foam. If you can't find one, a new big serrated bread knife works well also. I also cover raw foam with a layer of cotton quilt batting before putting on the fabric. It helps round over and sharp edges of the foam a little-a professional upholsterer taught me that. Everything was beautiful today as always, but i think the beverage cart was my very favorite. Blessings to you and your family Mary!
Love all the projects and your imagination in bringing them back to life. I thought for sure the wicker chair was a goner, and it looks absolutely beautiful now. Enjoy fall in OH! I'm in SW OH and we're just seeing the leaves turn.
I stop anything and everything I’m doing when I see your back…I’m addicted!!! You have the best visions for thrifted items! Thank you for sharing this great video! 🍁🧡🍂
Could you have put a couple of the original pieces you knocked off under the top shelf (since you left the other two for braces) and made a space to slide stemmed glasses through? That might be pretty as well. Such beautiful work!
The beverage cart….oh my word! How you can spot something at a thrift store and envision what it will look like in the end, I’ll never know! 😅 But it turned out totally adorable!!! It’s my favorite makeover!
I think your "frugal" mind works wonders! Not everyone would/could "see things as they could be...not as they are". A real gift. The money you save is a credit to you!!! Carry On!
Mary you definitely have an eye for creativity and what you can do with these various items. The dress looks great on you and it fits you perfectly! ❤❤
Hello Mary!!! Love your thrifting treasures!!!. The dress is so pretty!!! And the beverage cart I love!!!! The chair is a timeless treasure for sure!!! You do a fabulous job transforming thrifted furniture!!! Take care God bless!!!!
I've been following you for several months now, I really like almost everything you transform. Today you were unique in your summer clothes - you also transformed beautifully, I couldn't take my eyes off your transformation. In the spring, we both planted so-called frozen strawberry seedlings. How are you did they grow and bear fruit? Just a little for me, but now they have grown. I wish you a lot of joy from your sons, a still pleasant husband and a healthy mother.Dear Ms. Mary thank you very much for the inspiration to keep even old and worn things.
Love your talents, Mary ! Your mother surprised me when she easily lifted that little cart. 😊 Where has Pebbles been ? Haven’t seen her in the last few videos.

Mary, you're one of my favorite artists on TH-cam. Love, love, love all of your creations. You are much appreciated!
Mary, your photo shots at the end of the video are so professional. I especially liked the chair with the cat posing. Perfect. Great ideas.
My husband's parents owned an upholstery shop. They always used an electric bread knife to cut foam. I see them in the thrift shop fairly often. Might be worth a try. Keep up the lovely work!
I was going to say the same thing! I used an electric knife to cut foam to make positioning bolsters. It cuts through foam like soft butter!
Maybe an electric knife can be found while thrifting also😊
Yes, an electric carving knife works great.
My husband does upholstery as a side job! That is what he uses! That chair and striped fabric were beautiful! My husband often uses a layer of fiber fill! It’s in a sheet! The barn wood slats and shelf look absolutely wonderful on the beverage cart. Inspiring as always, Mary!

Mary, your vision for making things fresh a new always amazes me.
I absolutely love all your finds today. It was wonderful to see that brief look at your mother. I do have to say the mug set was my favorite.
The cart was truly a trash to treasure! With your wood working skills just about anything can be saved. We saved a wicker loveseat from someone's trash at the curb & now it's on our front porch. I would have bought the mirror too.
I love everything you do!

Really liked how you put the barnwood in as shelves in the lil table. Always love your projects. Thanks for sharing!
Mary, I use an electric handheld meat cutter that I thrifted to cut foam. Easy peasy 😊
I am always impressed at your ability to have a vision for each piece, subtracting and adding as needed, seeing beyond the initial surface and use. Very pleasing to watch and enjoy the end result.

Wow I love that cart, what an upgrade! My daughter has one of those in her pantry that she keeps her potatoes and vegetables in, it has wire baskets. Someone must have donated the cart and kept all the baskets.
I use an electric knife to cut foam. It works well and I usually see the knifes at goodwill. 👍😊
Love the videos ❤

Painters tape could be used for additional hold on temporary fabric placement too 🌸
