Yeah i have this issue, was loading into a game and my xbox suddenly started lagging (as if it was going to crash but didnt) so i restarted my xbox.
After restart the audio was completely gone eventhough my headset works on my phone fine and was working fine on the console before.
I tried resetting my console (keeping data/games) but now i cant get back on to check if the reset worked because i need my wifi password.... the person who has that is asleep right now -_-

The problem that I’m having is when I be trying to talk to people, I hear all this video game audio the sound effects the music from the game inside my headset and I’m not able to hear people talking. The only thing I want to hear through the headset is the people in the chat talking and I want all my sound to come through my TV or my stereo whatever not the headset because the sound in the headset is louder than the people talking.

I tried your tutorial and still nothing. I just got my elite controller and new headset. It worked fine until I was on discord one day and all sound stop coming through my headset. Its been over a month and I tried factory reset, power cycling. Everything.

@@Bluepr9nt USB headsets aren’t supported by Xbox, you have to use 3.5mm jack on the controller

I’m gonna buy a ps5 at this point first chat mixer is disabled then I want to update the controller and it says looks like ur controller batteries might be low which I just put new ones in but Ig Alr then it says replace them or plug in ur controller use cable which is in and it still isn’t working
