In the mid-1950s, there began a new era in which African Americans began to migrate to Ghana as a result of its independence. African Americans, especially civil rights activists such as W. E. B. Du Bois and Julian Bond, went to Ghana to aid the country's development and escape the racism of the United States.
In this video I share Dale and Deisa’s story of moving from the United States to Ghana. Deisa was a pharmacist in the US and Dale was an investment banker over in New York. Now they have relocated to Ghana and are establishing their lives here.
    0:00 Intro
02:20 What initially got you to make the decision to move here to Ghana?
03:49 What was it about Ghana that made you decide to move here so quickly?
06:01 What did you do once you decided to move to Ghana, what was the next step?
09:41 Did you have any idea of what to expect in Ghana before you came here?
12:46 Have you had any major challenges since moving to Ghana?
13:00 How did you avoid challenges in Ghana?
16:18 Have you guys made many connections with other people since moving to Ghana?
18:03 How did you find a home in Ghana?

My name is Jasmine and I have relocated from Sydney Australia to Ghana in west Africa as of the year 2020.
My parents are of Ghanaian descent and so am I although I was born in Australia. Here on my channel, my goal is to give you a real glimpse into what it’s like to live in Ghana, from the Ghanaian food, to the Ghanaian culture, to the Ghanaian lifestyle and everything in between. My goal is to satisfy your curiosity about Ghana and help inspire to explore Ghana.
My prayer is that these videos do just that for several African’s in the diaspora.
Follow your bliss because life is short, follow your bliss because human life has no intrinsic value, follow your bliss because everything happens for the greater good and follow your bliss because it has all happened before.

People always get amazed and frustrated by how the pace of living in Ghana is so slow. I am not sure whether this is a good or bad thing to others but to me, "Rushing" as we call it in Ghana is the cause of many diseases and crimes. The rush to get things done so quickly causes escalating of blood pressure, stress and anxiety. Frustration from rush can bring a lot of anger and crime. I've witnessed a lot of these in places like Lagos, Toronto and New York.

So I word out the feeling I’m actually getting staring at the paint… the old man became amused then replied “all his life I’m one of the few to say something like that about that painting” it started a whole new conversation because I love painting myself. Lastly, I love how he talked about that paint coming back to his root along side finding out his history bate back to the Motherland. A whole story on it own they can explore on their channel. This is an exceptional couple; they did their research and plan wisely. They knew exactly what type of accommodation they wanted, and they got it. I love the apartment. And they shipped things that have sentimental value to them; things that give them a feel of the past or connection with where they are coming from, and that gives them a kind of familiarity in their new home. This interview is very encouraging to people who are thinking of moving to Africa.

Watch all of the interview and I must say your guess is very simple and wise. I can tell they living within there means and not above there means very important. Booked my ticket a couple of weeks ago for the summer, can't wait to come to Ghana...I will be there for one month....I would love to see some places too....maybe some houses and apartments too.

It's a cultural thing! We have Ghanaian friends who come and ask "where the hell are the bars?"

It’s better to rent a place for at least 1 year, study the system look around, contact TH-camrs or course like Jasmine, drive around, then you can decide where you want to finally settle down. Importantly don’t spend all your money on one mansion, you can invest your money on another property that can bring in income like AirBnB. Thanks Jasmine.
