The Bible, old and new testament, is quite adamant about monotheism and the avoidance of any idolatry. If Jesus meant to say he really was God and to be worshipped, it would be a break with that tradition and would require a specific statement to that effect. Instead, Jesus repeatedly in the NT speaks to this issue by making further statements to the effect that he cannot do anything himself and that he is just a representative. So this "rebuttal" really isn´t one.
Jesus has two natures, divine and human. The hypostatic union. He spoke in his humanity when he said those things

What I am saying is not conclusively showing that Jesus is not God or that he shouldn´t be worshipped. Instead I am trying to show that the weight of evidence points away from assigning divinity to Christ, not towards. And that given the environment Christianity is introduced into, with Gods having Sons as an axiom and a common belief in the then ruling empire, further indicates that being sure Jesus is God or that he should be worshipped as if he is God is not the only valid conclusion here if evidence is to be considered and rationality, logic and reason used as tools.

Muhammnad advocated crucifying others. (Qur'an 5:33, Muslim 16:4131) Jesus was crucified himself. According to his followers, Muhammad had others give their lives for him. (Sahih Muslim 4413)
Muhammad is a false prophet and Jesus Christ is the truth.
And Yeshua spoke again with them and he said: "I AM THE LIVING GOD, The Light of the world. Whoever follows me shall not walk in darkness but shall find the light of life."

Jesus Is a God to be worshiped IS the core and the base of Christianity, so if the base is Not mentioned clearly and directly, then something IS wrong.
In Islam, the base and core of the religion is that Allah, the God, is the only God to be worshiped. It is mentioned in the beginning, middle and end of Quraan. 100s of times. But in Bible, the core of Christianity which is Jesus is God, worship him is not mentioned even once.
I am a Protestant and have never worshiped Jesus like I worship God. Jesus is sitting at the right hand of God! Jesus is my savior not my God!

If they don’t think that Jesus claimed to be God in the numerous proof texts, then just ask them; “why don’t you also say these same things. After all, it’s not a claim to divinity” and see how they suddenly become silent.
They know that a mere creature doesn’t claim to be the truth (John 14:6) to resurrect the dead on the day of judgment (John 5:28-29) to claim to be the Son of God (John 3:16, 10:36) to forgive sins (Mark 2:5) to be the Lord of the Sabbath (Mark 2:28) and to be the Resurrection and the Life (John 11:25) and to be one with God (John 10:30) and to claim a title exclusively for God (John 8:58) to be the the Judge on the Last Day (Matthew 25:31-33) and claim to be the Lord of King David (Matthew 22:41-45) etc.
If a true prophet says this, I’m gonna worship him as God. Jesus did that, and that’s why I, and numerous other siblings in Christ worship him as our Lord and God, the giver of eternal life.
