My mom started watching this show out of nowhere after a lifetime of not believing. She got to learn a lot about who Jesus is and didn’t seem too concerned about the theology. Glad I have some more family to go to church with now

Matthew chapter 10 clearly tells us that Jesus gave all 12 of his disciples power over unclean spirits to cast them out, to heal the sick, raise the dead etc. if Judas was never a believer he would not have the power to cast out evil spirits which can only be done by the Spirit of God. How can an unbeliever cast out an evil spirit!? They can’t. Judas fell away This not an endorsement of the chosen either.

They have a congregation in Alymer Ontario (about an hour away from me) I have heard insane stories about them. Apparently they have sacrificed babies in the wooded area behind the Church. This might be unbelievable if most of the congregation wasnt made up of Mennonites who dont register any of their children’s births and have them all at home.

Every time I tell someone to watch The Chosen, I let them know that there was some artistic licensing in the show. I also encourage them to go read the Bible so that they will understand what is going on and what is truly happening. Remember that a Mormon and a Catholic are helping and Evangelist with this show and there are definitely some nuances that need to be addressed that don’t line up exactly with the Bible.

I believe that it is a description presnted by the chosen. They are not presenting the exact gospel but rather a version of it. The scene of jesus pleading with judas makes sense. Jesus would have/actively does pleade with individuals to accept salvation. However him saying hes had it before (in terms of the show) reflects the decision of judas to follow jesus originally. The show the chosen reminds me of the movie the last temptation of christ, ft willam defoe. This movie is not canonically biblically acurate, however it does show the weight of christs decision of the cross, and showed the omnipotence of christ in another light. He chooses at the last second to be spared from the cross and is shown what would happen if he were to live instead of die. Its a slow burn movie but it emphasizes for our sake the more human side of jesus. From what i e seen of the trailer they haven't messed up. But the show the chosen from its inception has never been a cut for cut biblically accurate example of the gospel, but rather the gospel presnted in modern day entertainment, for which the creator has also acknowledged. I also apologize for being paragraph guy in the comments, but figured id comment.
